When you look at what FARMER'S need to run a farm like combine harvesters, Tractors them things alone leads into a few million...When machines, Tractors breakdown their paying for a new tractor or parts to get them fixed... The land is where the money is at but without the land they can't farm... The wage they come out with isn't that much especially working 16 hours daily, 365 days a week in all weather's ... I applaud them...!
I live in the country and I have seen farmers in their tractors with their headlights on working in the fields getting the crops in before the weather changes. There is no 9 to 5 for farmers.
My family had a farm and I currently know 3 others from the area that still have their farms, they do it for dedication, if it was for money they would have quid decades ago.
The value of their land is the collateral they need when the time comes to replace or buy a new tractor or a combine harvester. The Labour inheritance tax cuts farmers off at the knees.
