Hey I'm new to trotline crabbing I just bought one and set it up. We went out and had some trouble finding a good spot. We ended up getting into a few but they kept falling off before we were able to net them, do you have any tips for why they are falling off early?
probably line to tight and many other factors. takes practice, to figure it. strong cross current.... could be anything... just gotta ease em on up the line. roller possibly... that's one of the many challenges... could be the area, bait, recent cold water layer on top of water Making them drop from rain. just have fun, b safe and give all their space
@@Trotlining thanks for the tips. My roller might be to high up I notice your line comes in pretty level mine was coming in more vertical. The water temp on top was 80.5 and we set the line in about 6ft of water .It is definitely possible that the line was to tight. Thanks again I'll have to try it again. Here we can use trotlines but can't use them in any river with brackish water.

if you know you're losing them why waste your time trolling that direction?
