  • We took a family trip up the River Frome and along the Wareham Channel towards Poole Harbour. It was a glorious summer day in the middle of August 2022.
    Come along for the ride!

If I'd known you were in Poole i would have given you a shout. I have just come back from an unsuccessful 3 day trip with my Orkney 440. I recently bought it & it requires work! Your advice would have been great. 😀.

What model of trailer are you using? Is it a Hallmark Rollercoaster 1?

The trailer is made by Indespension Not sure the exact model, but it’s a break back roller version. And approx 16ft.

Do you have to wait for high water to launch on the river grime?

It’s the River Frome so Ridge Wharf and Redclyffe are the places to launch from. Baiter Park is a good cheaper place to launch in Poole Harbour though.

I bought it mainly because I wanted a depth gauge and to know my speed over ground and it’s good for those things. I bought the detailed maps as an extra so is a good navigation aid too. Haven’t used the fishfinder yet though. Fishing will be on the cards next year.
I find it nice and simple to use even though it’s not touchscreen. And I found the 7 is the perfect size for my dashboard and plenty big enough to see the detail and use easily.
