This incredible cabin was lovingly designed and renovated by its owner, Brett, who lived in it for several years before starting to rent it out to guests recently. If you're travelling to Toronto, you can find out more about it on Airbnb:
www.airbnb.ca/rooms/plus/1360...
The structure was originally built in 1890 to be a coach house and horse stable in the backyard of the main house, and it’s had many uses over the years before being converted into this tiny house. It’s pretty unusual to find a space like this that feels like it belongs in the countryside just a few steps away from a busy street in the city.
The main floor is just 270 square feet (approx. 16’ x 17’) with another 77 square feet in the loft (approx. 7’ x 11’). You can access the loft via a stunning wooden spiral staircase (with hand grips for stability!).
This is a 4-season space and there are quite a few ways to control the temperature to make sure it’s comfortable year-round. For heat, there’s a heated floor, electric wall heater, wood stove, and a space heater. For cooling, there’s a mini-split air conditioning unit, a ceiling fan, windows, and a fan.
We hope you enjoyed checking this cabin out! Again, if you want to spend time here while you're visiting Toronto, check it out here:

Affordable housing not airbnb
Coming back to watch a 2nd time. I've seen some amazing tiny houses, but so far, this one has a character that I haven't found in others. A unique beauty.
Now THIS is urban living! Seriously, a more soulful option - albeit urban proportions. Love improvisation like this. Much respect-
There's something special about having that little bit of extra space in the center since the cabin in more square than a tiny home built on a trailer.
Absolutely stunning in its simplicity history and barn charm!!! I would SO love there☺️🌸
That is a beautiful cabin . That is something I would build for myself.
Absolutely beautiful. How are you doing. Hope you are fine and staying safe out there?
Whats holding you down, Margaret?
@@dutchman8129 income and much more. now I only have false dreams. But I pass on my knowledge.
This is a good use of space. Small but livable, cute, and very functional. Would prefer a downstairs sleeping space.
This is a very elegant and well-designed space, with all the visual features working together for a wonderfully cohesive rustic but functional look. The one thing that I noticed that would make me uncomfortable is the lack of a more secure-feeling protective edge beside the bed in the loft. I love the current look, but for me to sleep there I would need something more substantial-feeling - if only a partial wall of plexiglass in a wooden frame, higher than the current rope frame. How beautifully this is nestled in a backyard space - right in Toronto!
Yes, I was thinking the same!
Agreed. A plexiglass half wall would be a perfect solution. I was also thinking that a curtain would offer additional privacy.
I love this, I could live in it !!!
Yes it’s so beautiful. How are you doing. Hope you are fine and staying safe out there?
It's a beautiful little space.
What an amazing Interior, the Owner had a very good taste and hes done a very, very good job.Its stunnig, the best cabin I´ve ever saw.
I love this cabin. it’s so cozy. I wish we could have gotten to see it when he still lived in it. I always enjoy more when the people are living in the homes we see. 🙂 love the videos guys!
Same here, I love when videos are done of tiny houses with people living in it not renting
@@muyemiakinsete1496 Yes- knowing it is a B&B or something like that changes my perception of such spaces. As my husband and I have already built one tiny home (as a camper- too small to live in legally) and are contemplating building another larger, more permanent one I do prefer those videos wherein the owner is sharing the reality of the day-to-day life in the space he/she has built.
So Beautiful 💜
This is something I would build to live in with all the natural wood walls & pipes for shelves, etc
Really neat little spot. I particularly like the wooden interior which provides a distinctly rustic look and feel to it. The use of space is also really neat, and living there must be just awesome. I think that a relatively simple way to expel heat in the loft would be to put a louvred extractor fan at one of the gable ends... Louvred to ensure that it remains closed when not needed or in use. Great Little place and I love it ❤️😄
I like urban living so glad to see this tiny home in the middle of a city yet still rustic. The best of all worlds to me!
Theres actually some really clever design and space saving ideas here
Beautiful tiny cabin with great ideas for a tiny house. Thanks for the guided tour.
Complete, high quality, well thought out, old country charm and aesthetics, right next to coffee shop and market. I wonder how well it’s insulated against sound.
Have been watching your videos for many many years. Probably around 8 years ? Very happy to see you guys are doing better and better and I must say the tiny houses featured in your channel are always the best !
I think this cabin is my favorite so far…
First of all, it’s made out of a horse barn I am a horse owner, lol❣️
I really love the whole layout. I thought it was very thoughtful and very clever. I especially love the sliding barn door! The stacked washer and dryer and basically a walk-in closet, fantastic idea💯💚👍🙏☮️
I love this quiet warm comfy
Hot damn!! This is so gorgeous! Ooh, perfection! I love it, every little single thing, just beautiful. The owner did an excellent job!
so cozy... I want mine surrounded by rivers and crops
Great tour!
You are really the best showing these Tiny spaces, especially mentioning each and every detail 🤓
Wonderful woodwork, functionality and home feel. This place is a gem, bravo to the owner 👏🏻
Thanks so much! Really happy you enjoyed the cabin tour :)
Gorgeous place to stay in the middle of downtown. All details are respectful of the history of the place and very well though. Love the inviting couch and this friendly stove. The kitchen is well organized and the dishwasher is a top! All this wood around Gide such a nice feeling. Sure you don’t have the impression to be right downtown. I am not so sure about the rope very close to the bed that doesn’t give much protection when you wake up….from a nightmare! I would like to stay there anyway and enjoy the patio during summer. Thanks for this nice discovery!
What a charming place!
I love tiny homes 👑😍👑
It's on Mcgee Avenue, right downtown Toronto, the owner put in lots of sweat equity into this, well done and unique!
This is Amazing and I would love to rent a place like this to live instead of your typical apt... My goodness it's so charming and perfect! Kudos to the man who rebuilt this.
Flawless aesthetics.
Great lighting design.
I want plans!
A stunning beauty! I wish I could take my own ideas and make them fit into such a beautiful and functional reality. It’s much harder than it looks!
This is LOVELY! I'm too old for stairs and lofts, but love everything else.
Love the whole disign and interiour , gorgeous
Such a cozy space. Everything you really need. So homey.
I want one like this, been considering a tiny home, main worry...heat,I always said when I get one, must be with wood burning stove,/fireplace etc, & plenty of hot water ♓👏😉
Looks fantastic.
Brilliant design and thoughtful execution!! This is a passion project!
A nice tiny home. Almost looks like one of those CUTEBEE scale model kits you can build. I think a skylight would add a bit of airiness and natural warmth to the space. 👌
Such a cozy place. I would love this to live in. I don't like big houses.
Perfect! Absolutely perfect.
Gorgeous
Absolutely love the rustic charm n kudos to the space planning, I could definitely live here!♥️
This little cozy cottage is absolutely unique. Thanks Matt and Danielle for sharing ❤
Thanks Cathy :)
OUT OF THIS WORLD!
I love all the wrought iron everywhere and the rough wood look. I also love the staircase!
This channel is just amazing
Thanks so much, happy you're enjoying the videos :)
Une vieille dame avec un cachet incroyable.

This is amazing!
Love this!! Such a cozy rustic home!! The owner did a great job!!
I Would Build That Same Cabin as A Sitcom Set.
Beautiful and cozy home.
I want a place just like this. I absolutely love it!
Wonderful restoration! My reservations only go to the staircase which I don't consider safe, and the tiny dining area.
Hello Susan. How are you doing. Hope you are fine and staying safe out there?
Lovely little space, with every need accommodated. 🙂
This is amazing! Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for posting and sharing. Very nice cabin.
Justement, je pense bien aller faire un p'tit tour à TO bientôt! Superbe plan... comme quoi il suffit de peu d'espace pour créer un refuge invitant.
Absolutely beautiful
This is absolutely beautiful 😍. I would love to live in this. The simple life in a beautiful little log home. Now that’s living the good life. I’m in love 🥰.
I would NEVER leave!! Absolutely gorgeous!! 💖❤️🥰
It’s beautiful! I would love to live there!
It’s really nice. How are you doing. Hope you are fine and staying safe out there?
Love it! This is my dream home for sure!
Love it. So cozy and charming.😊
Nice, but...I could see a bit of light coming in from the bottom of the main door. Also, it would be too easy to fall out of the loft.
wow well done looks spectacular
Beautiful.
Beautiful
Really nice
I love this!
beautifull work even if i would change some points it is a lovely place. it looks inside so much greater than the shown outside views.
i would chance: pipe instead the rope, change the concrete countertops with some light stone
Awesome space.
Neat little spot to hang your hat for a while! Thanks! 🙏💕
My house used to be a barn and has the original ladder, horse stables, we have 4levels but only use 3 . We have original chains n hooks also . My house is pretty unique
Beautiful 🥰
Awesome!!
Best one yet
New drinking game: every time the guide says 'space' you drink. Good Luck 😅
Haha!! We did notice I said it a lot while we were editing the footage :) Thanks for watching and hope you enjoyed the tour.
Incredible!
Yes it really is. How are you doing. Hope you are fine and staying safe out there?
Inviting space! Enjoyed your "steel drum " music.
Thanks so much Allan! We're definitely enjoying using the new drum in our videos :)
Love this!
would love to love there
My dream home!!!!
Accessory dwellings like this will help ease the housing crisis. Hopefully, some will be offered as affordable long-term workforce housing.
It's very nice
Thank you
I love it
that's so so cute.
A very lovely redone barn! I am surprised that an egress was not required in the loft? I had to have this done in my loft due to having a wood stove within city limits in US even though my home was detached from other homes. I had to do this as required but also realized that with no window in a loft it was a safety feature should one have a fire regardless of wood stove or other fire hazard.
i love that house. I would live there.
Omgoodness..... Where do I sign up. Absolutely beautiful 😍
Awesome! 🌀💚🌀
A wonderful little house. So cozy. Would love to live there :o)
Anyone else see the handle on the floor of the shower?! I really really want to know if it lifts up and if so what was under it!!
bien fait
The only thing I would change would be the beam over the bed. As it is right now, it's a definite head-banger.
I would take it out and put a much smaller beam there. That way you keep the rustic look, but it's not a hazard.
Funny, when i saw that i shared your feelings as a first impression, then i remembered my cabin. A boyfriend/handyman thought the ceiling ties, connecting the two halves of the ceiling (perpendicular to the ridge line, like this piece of wood), were obnoxious, so he took out every other one. Instead of every 2', i had one every 4'. Then came another carpenter/handyman. He assured me we could do without any at all, since it was a small cabin, we don't have any snow load where i live, etc. So he took out the remaining ceiling ties and sheetrocked over the entire inside of the roof. Looked great.
Then later, having some unrelated roof-leak issues, the roofer casually mentioned that the house was pulling apart, and that below the tarpaper and composite roofing, there was a 1-inch gap between the ridge beam and the rafters! Silly me, for letting those ceiling ties go!
Anyway, i think the designer of this renovated stable has thought it through carefully, and i bet if he considered that one piece of wood unnecessary, he would have gotten rid of it-- in favor of aesthetics and headroom comfort-- in a jiffy. Instead, in my opinion he wisely chose to retain it so as not to run into the problem i have.
