    Candy was well liked and popular while Betty was shy and didn’t have friends. That was probably the reason why Candy got away with it. A lack of empathy for Betty because she wasn’t popular.

  • @Hagridslefttoee

    Once or twice is self-defense. The minute Betty was not fighting back that was no longer self defense, Candy deserved jail time. Especially since she didn’t call the cops and left the baby there.

    • @williepearl278
      @williepearl278 2 месяца назад +18

      Part of their defense was that at one point during their argument Betty wanted Candy to be quiet (I’m not sure what her exact words to candy were) and this triggered Candy. Apparently her mother would talk to her that way when she was a kid and she supposedly had a flashback and became enraged. Supposedly this is why she hit Betty with the axe so many times, but I’m calling billshit.

    What the movie didn't show was that her defense lawyer actually held the axe up to her and she was hysterical on the stand almost uncontrollable. This was the turning point as the jurors had never experienced anything like this prompting them to believe that she needs help rather than jail. Also, the movie didn't mention that when the sheriff searched Candy's home they found a novel that she had been reading about an axe murder that happened on Friday the 13th. Circumstantial at best, but who knows. All in All I believe she got away with murder. She would have been convicted today.

I just was disappointed with the direction of that. It felt like victim blaming because they made the k*ller seem like such a good person who just “snapped” like it was some normal accident. In reality the k*ller was a typical narcissist who seemed “perfect” to the outside world but was evil enough to commit such a heinous crime.. and the fact the k*ller is now working as a therapist & has no consequences to her crime.. just sad af the victim never got justice

    It’s driving me crazy the narrator keeps calling him their adopted son. He’s their son once he was adopted. Sorry may seem trivial but it was annoying to hear him keep calling him that.

    When females do crime they try to find ways to not make it her fault... if you look in comparison to males committing the same crime women get lighter sentences than men ... this major bias should be pointed out during trials by lawyers in male cases but not fully giving a reason of the biases... just say the case v however but make sure its female that got lighter sentencing so that the males may also receive the same if laws remain the same and if in the same state... or similarity between states judgments... or if any cases similar have gone to supreme courts... if at all any criminal cases as such... because there are many people that note the biases but these judgements are almost the same as it was in the past when it comes to women vs males... many times women if attractive or people have sympathy for them in a criminal case the judge or jury go easy on them.... LOL
