    Seriously, if *anyone* is in doubt of doing a motocamping trip, just do it! It is a great way to get to know your motorcycle’s limits (and your own!) in a lot of ways. And you will find out that those limits lie a lot further than you initially thought.
    Packing is always a challenge, but you really need a lot less than you think. Be picky with what you take and re-evaluate your choices a few times before you go. Just make sure you don’t set your goals too high and that you’re having fun! Good luck!

    A tip I have is a lot of times ( but definitely not all the time) campgrounds are actually fairly close to civilized society. This means you can just run into town for a hot meal saving you some space by not having to bring food or a way to cook it. It's not exactly in the spirit of roughing it, but every ounce counts.

  • @sasquatch6829
    @sasquatch6829 2 года назад +13

    Lmfao…. I’ve seen the festival ninja… literally an entire campsite strapped to a little ninja… it worked. He arrived through dirt roads covered in mud and actually didn’t dump it despite his campsite throwing the balance off considerably. He said he’d never do it again though.
    Just because you CAN do it….. doesn’t mean you should.

    Sleeping on cheap motorcycle storage. Never forget the good old milk crate strapped to the back seat. Works great, has loads of places to tie other things and there's a high likelihood you've got one floating around in your garage already.

    My best advice, buy lightweight and compact backpacking gear. You will thank yourself for the extra space you get from buying gear that packs up small. That lightweight 5 pound backpack tent that packs up to 16x6 inches will be much better than that 12 pound Walmart special monstrosity made with cheap materials that packs up 30x10.
    Yes, I am that idiot who did camping trips on a sport bike which is why that smaller gear is a must if you do something dumb like I did. However even with plenty of room the smaller gear gives you more space for the important stuff. My Givi 15 liter tank bag and that big ass Nelson Rigg CL3000 tail bag worked flawlessly and held enough for me to survive 6 days away from civilization including food and water. Pro tip, buy a water filter and save some weight and space so you can not have to worry about dragging gallons of water around with you.

  • @delcrookes

    putting up the tent I find its easier doing it by my self, having a buddy help just makes it harder, when packing for the trip pack light and keep it basic, you will soon find out what you need and what you didn't, if you do have a buddy with you share the load , you will not need 2 of everything ( apart from a tooth brush ,,,, depends how much you like your buddy) , get on the bike and enjoy the experience and make memories

    Oof called out for my tacoma and sport bike.
    I'll just say a 65L backpacking bag plus using all backpacking gear, tent, pad, sleeping bag, cooking gear. You can fit everything you need for a week including food in that bag. I'm used to carrying it on my back for +40km trips. I'm actually starting to ride my SV650 to trailheads before hitting trails(given they're soft enough otherwise I'll use the fully built tacoma)

    • @ShadowKstr
      @ShadowKstr 2 года назад

      So - here's my question - Backpacks are ok? I mean, I would not put a full 60L monstrosity on my back, but something around 40 filled to the gills, might do the trick. Is that something acceptable? I have a Vitpillen, and my capacity to put staff over there is kinda limited. So yeah. Backpacks? Yay? Nay?

    In rural areas you can almost always find a cut hayfield, farm lane between corn fields, a tiny patch of woods, or a country cemetery to camp in free of charge. Get out of sight of the road and don't enter in view of any houses if possible. Carry a lightweight camo cover for your bike to make it invisible. If by chance the landowner catches you, tell him you got lost, apologiz profusely, and promise there will be no trace of your visit. Why pay to camp if you don’t have to? Like Valkyre Mike once said, "Camping is always free."

    Just came back from camping. 3 tips - buy smallest tent you can find. Your bike don't need one and you can just cover it with pocket size tarp. 2) buy smallest, most priciest sleeping mat. 3) buy that small tire pump that can be charged via USB and have flashlight build in. It can inflate, deflate your tires, check your morning pressure and shed some light at night when you cook your MRA

  • @MrKillervincent

    Me ignoring all of this on a yzf doing rallies 😂 pop up tents are great if you can fit one, they dont pack so small so I'd actually reccomend a pole style tent over a pop up, an air bed packs pretty small tbh (one with a built In pumps brilliant (check out the HI-GEAR, best but of kit I've bought in years and an air bed is essential to a good nights sleep, that and a warm tog sleeping bag (mine opens up like a blanket too which is great if its warmer) a couple of burgers and a disposable BBQ makes a great weekend away anywhere

Keep it snug, not tight, at the waist and a little loose on the shoulders so most of the weight is on the bike. A singular opinion, by me, that could only be be verified by unfortunate circumstances involving no longer having access to more conventional quadrupedal locomotion.

    I wonder if those magnetic tank bags might stick to a metal tank through a bit of some kind of tape so grit doesn't vibrate abrasions into the paint surface.

    Please test some more adventure bikes !! What if one young squid would like one, not to park it in front of Starbucks ?
    I think you would be able to actually do fair comparison between the different bikes. Forget the GS ! Africa Twin, Tiger 900, desertX. Only the cool bikes for this one. Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪!!!

    I dont understand yammie's perception that most adv riders never take the bikes off road. In CO that's the ONLY place I saw them. I never saw someone commute on 1 in CO.
    & in SC I see a fair number used to commute, but they're usually c9vered in dried mud...
