One of my favourite descriptions of Kira I ever saw was that he’s a main villain who would much rather be a minor background character that nobody cares about. He was much happier before he entered the main story.

No one heard explosion at the school, explosion of severed hand and Hayato didn't understand that happened to the couple that Kira killed. God, the set-up for this episode is so great. I've seen this episode many times before but it's still amazing, Kira is the serial killer but you can't help but root for him to succeed in getting the sandwich bag not because he's the bad guy, but because of what might happen IF he gets found out. And just as you finally take a breather, the fuse lights up on that dynamite of a problem.

The funniest thing is how this episode makes you feel Kira is so gross at the start, but as soon as we are given his motivation to get the hand back we can't help as viewers to root for him to succeed. It's really funny that when he's about to be caught we are like, "OH NO!" instead of "Oh yeah!"

Kira = so you can't notice this as much in the anime but in the manga it's way more apparent that Kira's face was based on David Bowie. Also your right his stand is a queen reference.

what i love about Kira is how realistic he feels. he's not some cartoonishly evil monster like Angelo, outside of murder, he lives a normal life. he has a job, he has a routine, he has work acquaintances. he's just an introverted guy that happens to kill women and F*ck their hands. THAT is good writing
This episode (and equivalent manga chapters) are peak Araki basically showing off how hard he can play tension ping pong. Neat lesson for writers and, due to the david production staff of this episode *nailing* it, also great for directors.
Another really nice touch in this part is that in earlier episodes before they fully introduced him, there are a few places where they just put Kira into some crowd shots to make him look like just another dude in the background.
This is why Kira is one of the most unique angst agonist characters of all time

You have to give credit to Araki for making the villain the protagonist of the episode and you're rooting for him in a roundabout way to succeed because you know if he doesn't he'll most certainly kill(or try to) the protagonists or anyone else who gets too close. So it's a nice twist on the trope because we want the character to succeed NOT because of the danger he's in as this kind of situation normally would be, but because of the danger that HE poses to everyone else.

Definitely one of my favorite villain introduction moment. JoJo always have fantastic, memorable villain introduction but Kira is definitely my favorite.

What I like about DiU's main antagonist Kira is that we see a lot of things from his perspective that we get equally excited for the main cast to find out his identity soon and also stressed about Kira's overall situation 😂
I love how the previous villains were a vampire that wanted to rule the world and an ultimate lifeform trying to achieve perfection.

So these two-parters are the perfect introduction to Yoshikage Kira, his abilities, and his personality (his quiet life is fascinating, his nails are very important later, and let's just say that he doesn't exactly "cut off" his victims' hands). Also, the music is amazing as always. That opening radio song was great, and Kira's theme is one of my favorite villain themes. This was great, but next episode is guaranteed to blow your minds.
