  • Hi this is Frank and welcome to the channel.
I just got this new case for the IC-705, It seems sturdy, well built and it looks good.
Note that I did pay full price for this items and i am not affiliated with the seller in any way.
This is my personal experience with this product, your results may vary.
    Link to the item/seller:
    www.ebay.com/i...
The seller says it is made of iron (Pause) it has a removable transparent protective plastic cover (Pause) a SO-239 antenna connector in the front (Pause) low profile spring loaded folding brackets (Pause) Carrying handles (Pause) and can still fit onto a tripod.
The connectors can be accessed on both sides and seems to offer overall good protection.
Now I will be fair, and express my only complaint, the carrying handles are a bit weak, if you carry the radio with just one handle, which I did, in a short time you will bend the handle. So use both handles to be on the safe side. May be a future version could have stronger handles, considering that the IC-705 is not light to begin with.
On the good side, it is inexpensive, shipping was fast, and no import fees for me in Canada. The case looks good and it does protect the radio, which is the goal of a protective case.
If you already own this case, I would like to know your feedback on it. If you have question or comments put them down below and I will try to answer them as best as I can.

Thanks for this video, I've been looking at these and found it hard to find a review.
BTW Those aren't carrying handles, they're gaurds to reduce the chance of bumping the buttons and dials.

May be I interpreted them to be carrying handles, the description indeed does not say, thanks for pointing that out.

Hi, good video, thanks... But my question is: what kind of antenna you have mounted here..?? Can you give model for future information..?? Thank You....

Hi, 2 antennas were used for this video, a standard Dual-Band (HYS NL-R2) and a HF with Tap (Comet HFJ-350), hope that helps, thanks for the comment and question. 73

i have this case, and love it, the best bit in my opinion is the clear cover which protects not only the dials and switches but also some protection of the screen, the so239 socket on the front also very useful. i bought with mine two small extention leads for the speaker and mic so no fiddling trying to fit mic..Cost half the price of the cage. 2E1FLD,

Ref: "two small extention leads for the speaker and mic" that is a good idea!

Wow. You saved me from wasting money on one of these. I was hoping to find a video review before buying. The flimsy carrying handles (I don't care if someone disagrees, these are carrying handles) are so flimsy. That's an automatic failure for me. I like everything else about the case, but the flimsy handles are a NO. Thanks a lot.

Yes, the "handles" are the down side, glad this video has informed you, thanks for the comment!

    Thanks for the review!
I received an adhesive foam strip that spans the width of the case. Where is recommended to place this strip? Toward the front? Back?
    Please advise, and thank you!

It is set at the top of the Radio, stick to inside case's frame, see the first 15 secs of the video, you should see the strip at the top. It is to protect the radio.

I know most HAMs don't use a manual, but it'd be interesting to find it online. Might you have a link?

I have not seen a specific manual, it is pretty much straight forward.

Looks along similar lines to my Side KX I have for my KX3, the side protection plates are very strong on mine and I also have a much needed protective shell/cover. Haven't seen many offering the protective front shell which I think is a must and worthwhile investment for your 705. Thanks for sharing.

Yes indeed the transparent top cover may be much appreciated by some. Thanks for the comment.
