My gf has stage 4 breast cancer. She said she had a lump 10 years ago, but never really thought much about it. I had my hand on her breast 6-7 months ago and felt a larg mass! I told her go, get that checked out! She waited 5 months and now they say 13 months with chemo! It's awful! The poor thing hurts all the time but moved back home hundreds of miles from me! It's all so heart breaking! She is 43, she is so perfect! Unbelievably beautiful! One of the prettiest ladies I've ever known!

It’s weird, I have cysts everywhere, always sore and itchy. Went for ultrasound to check them out and the sonographer found something. A large mass with its own blood supply. She’s sending me for biopsy. It looks sinister. But the thing that’s weird is that I can’t see changes or feel changes. All of the usual large cysts are easy to feel and see, but this new mass, I can’t actually detect its presence myself. It’s obviously there, I saw it on the screen. That’s actually rather scary to think that if I didn’t go to get the cysts checked i wouldn’t have known about this at all.

    • @carrad123456
      @carrad123456 2 месяца назад

Yes there are masses which grow inside, no nipple discharge, no feeling. Sometimes you go for checking for another cyst and find that is ok but there is something entirely different.
      Wishing you well .

    Hi Dr. Liz
I saw in a previous posting that you had problems with cording and fibrosis after your surgery and radiation . I am a retired PT and have had a right mastectomy and lots of problems with seromas after my drains were removed. I was having acupuncture and the surgeon aspirated the seromas twice. I was then referred to PT . I had no experience treating breast cancer patients. The PT used some very aggressive techniques that will snap the cording. I only improved so far on this technique. I called a very experienced PT who said aggressive stretching triggers inflammation in some people and suggested a super experienced PT who used gentler techniques. I improved quickly . I have recovered about 95 per cent of my range of motion. Occasionally my axilla stiffens up if I stop the exercises. If that happens I use the technique the therapist taught me. It took persistence but in about 2 years since surgery but my surgeon was thrilled with my progress, saying that my scarring is minimal. I know it's tough but there may be a solution for you. Best of luck and thanks for your posts.

Just found a weird lump a few days ago. My dad is going to schedule me an appointment to get it checked out, just hoping for the best here. My hopes aren't high though, it's pretty big now, 4-7 times bigger than a pea. But hey, looking on the bright side, I'm a trans guy who hasn't physically transitioned yet, and this would get my top surgery paid for haha.

I'm actually a man with breast cancer, I realized I had a lump in 2018 and went for a check-up ( mammogram and ultrasound) that detected only fibroglandular tissue and they sent me away. I returned when my nipple inverted in 2021 and it was cancer (lobular) indeed, because of a CDH1 mutation (lack of cadherin)

As ever brilliant advice from Dr Liz. I found my breast cancer as I had the puckering that Liz mentions - although mine was less like puckering and more like someone had taken a cord and pulled it slightly tight, so that there was a diagonal line across part of my breast. It really did seem to have appeared overnight and I then found the lump whilst lying down on my bed.

I knew in February, March I had persistent, spontaneous, unilateral discharge. It wasn’t until late May I told someone. She pushed me to go to the doctor.
I have found out since I have DID Amnesia. My brain without warning can cut off memory and sensory input. Maybe in case you have some degree of your brain not letting you remember something we should all keep a health diary with one person having access. Our brains can surprise.
I knew I had lapses of memory and a couple episodes of being outside myself, watching me laughing or being someone I hate. It took 40 years from being curious about odd episodes to finding the right mental health diagnosis. Five weeks later I randomly lapsed into a five day coma. Now my life is like BC/AD. Before coma and after.

I am about to have a mastectomy and the doctor recommended that I stop taking the tablets (letrozole and ribociclib) three days beforehand to give the body strength. Am I safe in the days without pills? I'm also thinking a lot about how limited my everyday life will be after the operation. How much help will I need and with what? My cousin (mom's side) was diagnosed with Inflammatory Breast Cancer and died within 6 months of her diagnosis, at age 44.
I am 47, and recently lost 34pounds in a 3- months span without trying; I'm so tired and achy with left upper back/side pain (and in the last 2 weeks, my left breast hurts too), so I had a CT scan of my chest, and they found a 2cm lump. My breast health and mammogram is October 1st. I just completed the self exam from the video. I get the pucker when I raise my arms, and some bulging and bluing of the veins along the outside ant top of the breast that is painful. How likely is it that I have what she did?

I am really concerned about the very elderly (86) Professor Baum who is giving talks about mammograms and breast cancer. He thinks the NHS should not do routine screening any more and wants the breast cancer screening service shut down and is being very vocal about it. I know of 2 ladies who have listened to him and decided not to go for screening because they don't have a family history of it. My her 2 + cancer was picked up at 2cm stage, it was deep and goodness knows when it would have been picked up if I was not attending screening. There are several articles by him and interviews, including astonishingly Liz Earle giving him a platform.

I'm currently half way through my course if chemo for stage 2 ER+ HER2- breast cancer. I was 46 when I was diagnosed earlier this year, so too young for screening, and no history of breast cancer in my family to my knowledge.
We should be screening at a younger age, and just because there is no family history, it doesn't mean a person won't get it.

      Hi Sammy
I am not a doctor but I have read about the toxins in Teflon and you need to switch to different cookware. A recent movie called Dark Waters detailed how Dupont (makers of Teflon) have contaminated water supplies world wide with PFAs( polyfluoroalkysubstances) . The subcategory of PFAs in Teflon I think is abbreviated PFOAS ( something like polyfluorooctanoic acid ?).PFOs can cause multiple health problems including cancers . I don't know if they specifically cause breast cancer. Dupont has been successfully sued for the health problems caused in workers who worked in Teflon plants. You should be able to find more info on line

Thank you! Mine wasn't a lump, and so many videos and articles forget to mention all these other symptoms.
Sorry this is so long, but people should know! My main symptom was a vague (easily ignored) pain that radiated up and down that side, so it was hard to even tell exactly where it was. Nothing looked different. And that's NOT even where the tumor was! It's (still) in my armpit!! The other symptom was fatigue unlike any other, and I thought I'd finally overcome my life-long insomnia. I'm a big lady, so I never saw or felt my tumor at almost 2" that was "satelliting" with my lymph nodes, which are all clear now, and the tumor is currently the size of a small pea as I type this.
I haven't had any chemo! Just Ibrance, Lupron and Letrozole!
My breast cancer (invasive ductal cancer) was stage 4 before I ever even got my first mammogram (first week of January 2020), and then everything sped up faster than I can describe for about 3 months. An unrelated spike in my liver enzymes triggered a new scan that revealed tons of tiny nodules deep in both lungs, which were biopsied via wedge resection surgery. And now it also appears to be in my lower spine as of last year, though a biopsy there is harder to get, so they're kinda educated-guessing from what the PET scans (every 6 months) appear to be showing. The lungs sound good, and the nodules are so small you need a radiologist just to see anything wrong! My monthly labs look great on a consistent basis, so...
I feel pretty good except sometimes in Week 3 of Ibrance I feel drained more easily, and less appetite for food sometimes. The only time I got sick on Ibrance was once I took it late at night after realizing I forgot my usual AM meds. Then I took my meds at my regular time the next morning, and "sick" followed shortly after. I accidentally doubled my dose. Don't do that.
    *TLDR:*
I am *_LIVING_* on Ibrance, Lupron, and Letrozole nowadays as a stage 4 "thriver!" *"METATHRIVER"* and *"METAVIVOR"* is what they call it when you start thriving on metastatic cancer treatment, and I truly think you're headed there, but without being meta! I'm almost a little jelly.

Right in the middle of my armpit I have an extremely swollen gland or lymph node. About the size of a grape. Should I be worried? I had a mammogram in December with a report that said “dense breast tissue…”.

I have the same thing right now under my arm. Going for the breast ultra sound next week due to dense breast tissue from my mammogram last month. Also just found a lump, hence why I am here, but really hope it's just a cyst. Best of luck to you.

I’m not a doctor I’m just a woman. You’re 17, you’re very young. Hormones do play a role in breast development and you could still be adjusting to post puberty hormones. Your doctor will be your best help

I’ve had scabs on my nipples since I was a teenager. In 2019, my right breast began to swell randomly (without pain). The nipple became super itchy. The skin is now dark and thickened.
I went for an ultrasound and nothing was found - BIRADS 1.
A few months ago, I found a lump behind my areola in my left breast. I had another ultrasound done a few weeks ago and the rating was BIRADS 4B! The right breast with the itchy nipple showed no abnormalities however, there were lymph nodes with cortical thickening. On both sides actually.
I was always obsessing and checking my right breast, very rarely my left. And now I have this lump and thickened lymph nodes - I’m very afraid at this point.

Is it normal to feel a lump in fatty breast tissue in 30's? Ultrasound and mammogram show no evidence of the lump felt. One side suddenly feels heavier than the next. What other screening can or should be used if no pain is experienced

breasts are naturally lumpy when you're young. If you've been scanned adn there was nothing to see then this is just waht your nomral breast tissue feels like
