I usually dislike more realistic art but yours just feels so alive and unique! Like it was staight out of a picture in the best way possible. Also, could you give me some tips on how to draw anatomy? I don't know why but every time I try it just feels wrong haha
Thank you so much 😀. Hm i think its definitely NOT about learning all the muscles and bones and more about understanding the proportions of the “human mannequin” and drawing it lots, maybe in life drawing. Its just lots and lots of practice. If theres a shortcut, i dont know it…
I love the flmaboyance, the nonchalant attitude and the delicious playfulness that this sketchbook offers. I have grabbed a sketchbook recently and using it to draw whatever comes to my mind. And the feeling is beyond enjoyable. Thoroughly enjoyed this tour of yours.
This is such a cool challenge and your execution is so wonderful in all of the drawings, love the way you don’t have to go into full depth to talk about each drawing, visual feelings and visual stories is so cool
This wee book is FULL of energy and life. LOVE the idea of the angel of bad drawings haha, might use that idea for mine and name him the 'Doodle Reaper!' This really inspired me, thank you so much for sharing!
Lovely stuff, makes me want to pick up a sketchbook that size to try a similar challenge. My current is used for everything from warm ups to hatching, markers, ink, blocks in space. The idea of having one of just “finished” pieces is very compelling
This is literally the best sketchbook tour I’ve seen, even tho I hate it when ppl just talk abt their sketches,I felt like I could listen to u speak abt all ur art and everything man! So much vibes and just WOW !!
Love your sketchbook! And you sent me down a delightful rabbit hole about that Duchamp photo. How had I never heard that story? So cool. Your smoking illustration really captivated me too.
Moleskin sketchbooks are REALLY good quality for the price point! Working on filling my own moleskin sketchbook. =) This is video is VERY good and inspirational.
They are good quality… but honestly they used to be better. They downgraded the paper a few years ago but kept the price. Cheeky cheeky. I still use them though obviously
This is soo relaxing to watch. I love your art! You're so good at drawing from life. Your drawings of your daughters surely are my favorite. Just pure awesomeness ❤️ Thanks for touring us inside your sketchbook!
This might be annoying to hear, and I think is counter to what most people advise, but I just think you need to be committed to the point where you do it even if you dont want to. Everything worth doing is like this... I find switching between oil painting and sketchbook work to be enough for me to get over any frustrations that build up.
Thanks so much. Theres no good reason other than my camera set up points at the easel but i tend to work in my sketchbook in other places. Like if im in the studio im usually painting. BUT, you arent the first person to say this so I promise theres some on the way. The next few are painting based but stick with me, its coming.
Neil, that is the most interesting sketchbook tour I have watched ( and I have watched a heaps)> So much to think about!!!! Techniques, composition....etc, etc. Your mind Rocks!!!!!! Cheers, Muffy from Australia.
Thank you so much for sharing! May i ask how thick/heavy the paper of you sketchbook is? And about that oilpainting sketchbook, i just started mine. Of course, gessoing the pages twice, but after a week the paint still super wet! I can't continue on the next page yet. I did expect the paint to dry more rapidly because of the paper speeding the drying process, but i doesn't. You mix a medium into your oils for sped up drying? Greetings!
Im not sure. Moleskine doesnt state the thickness of the paper in the book so i dont know. Feels like 160 -200 gsm maybe? I could be way off… I use a little liquin to speed up drying but its also true that the brand of paints you use and temperature of the room will impact drying too… for example i have a few pigments that just take forever to dry
I loved the 3D figurines, they are simple and look easy to draw but it hard to get them positioning in 3D space. I want more practice like that so that you can draw from imagination. Kim Jung Gi did that a lot that most of his stuff is 85% imagination goes straight in with ink, I loved watching his process.
Oh dont be jelly, but thank you. I appreciate it. Ah very little is from pure imagination but quite often i will adapt a reference quite a bit… but i am usually using some kind of reference image
The simple answer is to just to start drawing every day. Build a habit. Find people you really like and copy them. When you go back to your own stuff you will find it has taken on a bit of their knowledge. Repeat. Push through when you feel discouraged. Be humble when you think you are doing great. Repeat. Im still doing all of this and it is still difficult. Good things arent easy. Good luck and thanks for watching.
Lovely work! It takes me months and sometimes years to fill a sketchbook, but I wouldn’t trade the time spent drawing. You are so inspiring. Thanks for sharing your work.
Well normally it also takes me months. This was a specific challenge for October. For reference ive drawn maybe one page in my other sketchbook in November. Needed the break! 😅. Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed it
What a joy watching this sketchbook flip through and in only one month filled it that's amazing . I loved the "collage" way of compositions a lot . Thanks for sharing . Looking forrward to your painting sketchbook .
Oh thanks so much for watching and leaving a comment. Im really glad you liked it! Honestly im not sure how I managed it in a month either…. Oil painting sketchbook was 5 years in the making. Its filmed just need to edit it. Itll be up next Thursday 👀
@@ncunning No apologies. It's just an interesting tidbit and your drawing of it is fantastic. I should have also mentioned that your sketchbook is fantastic and I thank you for sharing your work!

loved the tour, the diversity of the drawings is just mind blowing… i have a question, what kind of pen/fineliner do you use for pieces like the one at 6:22? what tip size? i just love the hatching and the crispness of the text!

As a 16 year old artist this is so inspiring to me, i wish to complete a sketchbook in a month. Any tips?
I think getting into a habit. A routine of drawing. That is key. It has to be easy to actually do the work
