    I usually dislike more realistic art but yours just feels so alive and unique! Like it was staight out of a picture in the best way possible. Also, could you give me some tips on how to draw anatomy? I don't know why but every time I try it just feels wrong haha

    • @ncunning
      @ncunning  27 дней назад +9

      Thank you so much 😀. Hm i think its definitely NOT about learning all the muscles and bones and more about understanding the proportions of the “human mannequin” and drawing it lots, maybe in life drawing. Its just lots and lots of practice. If theres a shortcut, i dont know it…

    • @joresenurez5127
      @joresenurez5127 23 дня назад +3

      simplify the muscles to primitives, remember how they connect and use references.

    I loved the 3D figurines, they are simple and look easy to draw but it hard to get them positioning in 3D space. I want more practice like that so that you can draw from imagination. Kim Jung Gi did that a lot that most of his stuff is 85% imagination goes straight in with ink, I loved watching his process.

    May i ask how thick/heavy the paper of you sketchbook is?
    And about that oilpainting sketchbook, i just started mine.
    Of course, gessoing the pages twice, but after a week the paint still super wet! I can't continue on the next page yet.
    I did expect the paint to dry more rapidly because of the paper speeding the drying process, but i doesn't. You mix a medium into your oils for sped up drying?
    Greetings!

    • @ncunning
      @ncunning  28 дней назад

      Im not sure. Moleskine doesnt state the thickness of the paper in the book so i dont know. Feels like 160 -200 gsm maybe? I could be way off…
      I use a little liquin to speed up drying but its also true that the brand of paints you use and temperature of the room will impact drying too… for example i have a few pigments that just take forever to dry

    This is a fantastic sketchbook! Love the range of the images and subjects, and how you layer everything to build a narrative. And I'm a sucker for good ink work. You kept mentioning that you were getting images for portraits/figures off of a website, but I couldn't make out where you got them from "kayno?" - you say it first at the 2:17 mark with the girl with the flowers on her head. I've heard that word before from other artists, too, and I would really love to find out where I could get better figure references! Thanks in advance.

    loved the tour, the diversity of the drawings is just mind blowing… i have a question, what kind of pen/fineliner do you use for pieces like the one at 6:22? what tip size? i just love the hatching and the crispness of the text!

      Oh thats my favourite pen. Its a 0.05 staedtler fineliner. I buy them in boxes of ten. I love them but they dont last all that long.
      Thanks for watching!

    are those really watercolor paintings? cause they look too opaque and if so how did you do it with watercolors

    • @ncunning
      @ncunning  Месяц назад +1

      Yep. Im not really a watercolour painter to be honest so i dont really know what the “right way” is. I just use a little bit to add colour to ink drawings. Which one looks opaque to you and maybe i can give more info?

    • @roger2599
      @roger2599 Месяц назад

      @ncunning the nuns showing their feet, maybe its just me who thinks its too opaque cause im still inexperienced with traditional painting, ive just been drawing my whole life

    • @ncunning
      @ncunning  29 дней назад

      Oh no that is definitely watercolour. To be clear the black of their cloaks is ink, the skin is watercolour.

      Thanks! I dont think anything was longer than 2 hours. Maybe 3 max. Sometimes i would maybe spend some extra time hatching while watching tv or something. The reason its hard to tell is i would do little bits throughout the day rather than one big session. Thanks for watching!
