Nuzlocke Ruleset:
1. If a Pokémon faints, then it must be permanently boxed.
2. I can only catch the first encounter on each Route.
3. No bag items in battle, except for pokéballs. (Held items are allowed)
4. Must be played on "Set" battle mode.
5. Cannot level over the next gym leader/elite 4's highest level pokémon.
6. Z-moves are banned.

Those IVs were so good for a Jynx too
The problem with ice types isn't necessarily that they're bad, it's the typing that just sucks defensively. Ice types that are bulky just don't work well and they need to focus more on being offensive powerhouses which a lot of them are such as Weavile, Cloyster and many others. Ice type needs a buff tho.
They should have buffed ice types instead of making the fairy type. Fairy type is fucking bland and garbage.
@@calculus3661 fairy is one of the best types in the game. Also having a new generation and the only thing changed is a type that isn’t used that much
Ice should resist water, bug, and ground.

With these rules and the method for Jynx, you could get a fully evolved Salamance as first encounter for Mono Dragon or Mono Flying in these games if you repel through all of Route 3. That could be pretty OP if you get Moxie, since Hidden Abilities are also gotten through SOS encounters.
I remember getting a Salamance at level 15. was sick
u probably just ban salamence overall
You could, but I banned Salamence in my dragon run, so theres no point
I'd assume there's an unspoken rule where you need to take a catch on the first possible route to start the run, Salamence would be quite risky to catch in that case

I love that you do nuzlockes of gen 7, it’s my favourite generation not accounting for nostalgia. I don’t think other nuzlockers have heard of speed-up for in cutscenes lol.

I'm confused. Did you use ability capsules on Cloyster? At different times it was shown with Shell Armor and Skill Link.

Yep, you can get them from the Battle Royal Arena place in this game. BP is completely safe to farm with Mantine Surf so its fair game

My first run of USUM was actually a mono-Ice run (vanilla, no nuzlocke), and it went surprisingly smoothly. Granted since it was my first mono-type run the early-game was a bit fast and loose (AKA using Seel before it evolved), and I did do some trading shenanigans to breed my own Vulpix with Snow Warning and evolve my Eevee into a Glaceon early (because come on why on earth is Glaceon always so late-game?), but once we got the team all set up, things went really well.

I'm planning to do a Ghost monotype hardcore nuzlocke on Ultra Moon, only ever played these games once and I don't even know if I completed a playthrough, but I'm definitely learning a lot about this gen and the mechanics watching nuzlockes like this, have my sub good sir

not sure if i agree with SOS chaining for ecounters. I thought the whole point of a nuzlocke was to catch the first encounter
Hey DocZ, in that Lusamine fight, Vanilluxe setting up hail then switching to Jynx and using Psychic would've prevented the sad death
21:11 since Vanniluxe can survive and screen was for two turns, you could have used hail chip for bringing it in the range to kill with the psychic

A Psychic or Poison Hardcore Nuzlocke of Ultra Moon could be fun, but also, a pacifist run, where you have to win without dealing direct damage. Since you're working on becoming a doctor.
Using DarkraiTV's method on his ice nuzlocke run. Unfortunately I had to reset due to crabrawler not appearing on all trees between route 2-5 and the eevee I had most likely had the lowest ivs ever since I barely dented Totem Araquanid before getting killed
Yeah darkraitv’s method isn’t legal in my rules. But getting the Jynx is nearly guaranteed to have perfect Evs. Crabrawler won’t help much with the Totem fight.
If you get the Delibird at seaward cave and use an easier level cap that matches the Kahunas, rather than Totems, then delibird would have drill peck available.

@@DocZ Tbh using that Jynx with your rules made things a lot easier for you rather than beating Hala with the Pokémon that Darkrai used. Plus with your rules, shouldn’t you have caught that Smoochum, which was the first encounter on that route rather than the ally Jynx..?
@@jacobdeweil3553 kinda. The rule is more like "catch the first ice Pokemon" rather than encounter, so not necessarily the first ice pkmn that I meet but rather I can only catch one mon from the first battle

At 30:54, how come you opened with Lapras at all? Even if how you thought the damage calc. between charti berry and rock blast was the case, what advantage did opening with Lapras and switching to Froslass give you over simply opening with Froslass?
I thought charti would reduce all Rock blast hits and bait the X scissor. This way I could fling a choice specs onto it and shell smash cloyster. But if I hadn't started Lapras, Rock blast five hit actually kills cloyster.

Nice run, impressive work! I gotta say, regarding the Charti Berry stuff in the E4 Olivia fight, enemy AI isn't aware of the berries, right? I would imagine it doesn't consider the held item when choosing a move if it doesn't get announced (unlike Air Balloon, for example), so I think that's why Armaldo used Rock Blast instead of X-Scissor. Maybe I'm wrong, though, idk.
No AI is always aware of damage reducing berries. Infact its only aware of berries. Rock blast only has its first hit reduced so it would have done more damage anyway

I feel like its ok the use pokemon that evolve into ice types if they have an ice move. Not sure how you would get them though

the only way Crabominable outspeeds Glaceon is if Glaceon has close to worst Speed IVS and EVS and Crabominable near to perfect and +speed

I think it's the first encounter of each pokemon, and it was technically the first Jynx?
Since all the Pokémon appeared in the same battle they can be all considered part of the same encounter, as if they had all appeared at the same time.

charti berry gonna reduce the damage of only the first hit of rock blast so he saws the kill on lapras +magnezone saws the kill on cloyster with any move he could have go for flash cannon and kill vanniluxe

That is a challenge alright! However, your chaining breaks one of the first softcore nuzlocke. Capture first encounter of that type.
So idk, this would've been tougher if ya did that instead
It probably be the same, sure Smoochum is weaker than Jynx but you'd have Jynx again later on and the results probably would be the similar

I really really love your stuff! I had an open question if that's cool? Anyone can chime in. Is it rude if I comment something about strategy? Like a question or alternate suggestion. I.e. when you lost Jynx to Milotic, I think vanilluxe could've done it instead with snow warning->protect->ibeam->protect->repeat and hail damage would ko before vanilluxe goes down, but am I overestimating hail damage?
Milotic is faster and and would kill me with hydro pump since light screen wears off after the first protect

your run your rules if you do a hardcore nuzlocke and dont count sos encounter then the first pokemon you run into catch but if you want to include sos encounters than you might as well count them
