Addressing comments about brides assuming their family will take care of it @ 14:02 - As a side note, speaking to the brides - please don't volunteer your guests to do things and just assume they're going to do it. If you would like your friends or family to do something for you, PLEASE ASK! It's messed up to just assume and volunteer people for stuff. Even if you know them and you know they'd generally be willing to help out, you don't know if they had other plans. What if they had something going on at home and they were planning to head home early? What if they're tired after night of partying? What if they have other things going on you don't know about? Do not attempt to take away someone's choice to do or not do something by just assuming they will do something for you. That applies to not only weddings, but life in general. Do Not volunteer people for things and assume it will get done! It's not your place to do that!
Jamie- I’m almost in tears listening to your early experiences because I can totally relate. When I started out 23 years ago, I also had no mentor or guide. I did all the things you talk about- trusted that family/bridal party would take on responsibilities, ran myself ragged doing set up that was not my job, and took on the blame and brunt for things beyond my control. But I wouldn’t trade those days for anything because I learned so much about this business (and myself!). Now I earn my clients respect by being upfront and transparent and being fierce about boundaries and it’s awesome to witness you do the same. You continue it to inspire me and I wish you so much success with your course. What a great gift it is to all who partake ❤️
Thank you Jamie! I just coordinated my first wedding this month, and I made some mistakes. 😅 Thank goodness the couple and their family members were still impressed with my performance! The only reason I was any good at all was because I watched so many of your videos. Being subscribed to your channel is like taking a crash course in the wedding industry. Thank you for helping me realize I totally want to be a part of this industry!
I live in England (but but... I’m marrying an American 😉) anyway where I live in a area called Rusholme, there’s a curry mile!! A mile of curry restaurants either side. They all survived for 40 + years and they all sell curry 😝 there’s room for everyone xx
Dear Jamie, the last 2 video's i saw, you look a little mad, or defensive. Don't worry bout what anybody says, keep being the lovely sparkly Jamie you are... I just love your vids. It helps me alot, inspires me! Thanks for helping planning a wedding! ❤ Love from the Netherlands!
We live and we learn. I say I’ve never been a mother before ( I have 4 children 23,21,19 &11) but now I’m a grandmother and I can give so much advice 😉😉😉🤣🤣🤣 xx
I am a photographer ( not exclusive to weddings, far from it really ) and I have just launched my business a few months ago and I can apply so much of this to myself. Thank you 🥰
My first ever job was working for a wedding & event planner - we did rentals for a lot including table clothes, chair covers, she did some florist work for it too. I loved it but it was a lot of work to set up and tear down, I can understand needing to learn to say no.
Just starting out as a wedding planner. Like I’m NEW NEW lol and your videos have been SO helpful! I literally just study by watching your videos 😂 Thank you girl! PS: I would love a video on marketing when you’re a new wedding planner/ how to do a styled photo shoots etc... ☺️ Also!!! How in the world do you control the candle wax?! What methods are there from keeping it off the table linens 😂🥴
Hi! Part time wedding planner and part time full service florist here! We put our candles in glass hurricanes, and if you want to reuse them, put sand in the bottom to prevent the candle from sticking. There’s also little cork dishes you can put them in but tbh most venues don’t allow open pillar candles anyway so hurricanes are the way to go
As for styled shoots, you just need to follow a bunch of other vendors on the gram and reach out, tell them you love their work, swipe up on their stories and just become buddies. Then when you meet a photographer, ask them if they’d be interested. Together you can both use your vendor buddies and if you need to put a little money towards rentals, that’s great too. Also there’s always so many ppl willing to model who aren’t models at all so ask around
@@777malmo yes! So like a candle chimney?! What do you do about wax getting on the actual candlestick holders? I can’t figure out a way around that one. lol
@@TheFuquaFamily for the florist I work for, we have a heat gun and then use a screwdriver or whatever's around to push off the wax as it warms. I also suggest buying a multi-wick candle from like walmart for $2-3 and holding the candlestick over it as it burns. The heat from that should do the trick without the hefty price tag of a heat gun!
Hi Jamie! Love your videos! Have you seen any weddings at small nice restaurants? I’m thinking of doing my reception in a tasting menu type of format at a nice but small restaurant, wonder if you have any tips :)
Love the info thank you for sharing! I know you just started, but can you do a video on how to buy/start a wedding venue? I am super interested in making my own venue but have no idea where to start!
Thank you for this! I'm nervous to start because at the moment I live in Minnesota, US, but after I get married I will be moving over to Sheffield, UK and nervous no one will book me based on the fact that I'm not from there!
I've been thinking about going into event planning- as I really enjoyed doing that at a previous job, but I've seen so many comments like "I worked 12hrs/day, 3 months straight, no days off- that's the industry, lump it or leave it." I'm single, I can't go into a new career and not make enough to live----is wedding planning the same deal? It's your life and you need multiple jobs/ a partner to lean on to make ends meet?
I’m adding that contact thing to my contract. I’m very lucky to have multiple mentors in this and an amazing planning community (Baltimore event industry is bomb) but I still add stuff to my contract allllll the time.
I’m planning my wedding but I was looking into hiring a travel agent. Can you make a video on this guide? Maybe like how to find the perfect travel agent? Or rate travel agent websites?
I just want to say thank so so so so so much!!! I have been watching your videos since day 1 because I needed to make sure that I was doing the right things, and every time you said something I completely agreed!! I really really want you to know that all the way here in Hawaii I really really want to start my own RUclips channel that extends your name but Hawaiian style and I have been trying and I have no idea how you do all of this!! Anyways just got into your mastermind class and cannot wait to get your help!! I really want to see my business excel. I did not take on anymore clients for 2021 because I did not know how to keep my calendar organized and now I have nothing in July and I am at a loss . I am so grateful for you Jamie!! Really have been watching your channel for 3 years and want to make one but Hawaiian style because we just have different cultures here and I am a White Hawaiian and really want to make my Hawaii Nei shine on RUclips for brides who want to come here and enjoy my home. I commented once when you were here for a Nutridge Wedding, but other than that I have not commented just watched ♥️♥️♥️thanks so much♥️♥️♥️
Jamie… I live in Switzerland. Do you think the course would still be worth it? I would like to take it but not sure how US specific it will be. I hope you see this💕💕
I love decor and crafting and DIY'ed my whole wedding. I would love to do that for others as a business. Would that be called an event designer? Or is that more on the decor rental side? I don't want to be a planner, but more on the decor planning side. I don't know hoe to title it.
Thank you for making this video!!! As a fellow planner I can relate to this so much! Since you only work 8 hours on wedding days, does that mean you're not there when the other vendors are delivering/setting their stuff up? Are brides ok with that? I keep ending up with brides who want me there earlier to make sure the other vendors know where to set stuff up and to make sure they're delivering everything they're supposed to which is annoying cause then it extends my day to 14+ hours!
That feeling when you're watching the video and the coordinator you just booked shows up in the testimonials!! ❤️

That's awesome how you shared at the end how much being a wedding planner has made you a better wife, mom and more. 👍
7:30 reaction video to wedding planning parts of the movie would be soo fun to watch!😍

Yes, would really love that, too!

The 7 minutes of advertising were a little much on a 20 minute video goddamn

Oh my gosh! Literally just had a wedding that I did EVERYTHING you say is wrong. The roles and responsibilities of a DOC is so important!
Can you do a video on wedding music? Like how long is a precessional song? When and where to play music? Instrumental vs lyrics
So glad I got to learn from you these last few months! ☺️❤️

Does Legally Set also work for the UK? I guess the laws might be different?
This is beautiful!

Is the mastermind available for people in Canada?

Whats your view on feeding your guests their choice of Ribeye Steaks, Crab Legs, Lamb, or Fish?
I like the viral video of the transparent bridesmaid letter. Thoughts?
Is it too much to join the masterclass and still try to plan my own Wedding??
Where can I find the podcast ? Anyone know the links ?

What is your podcast name?
I think it’s called the union podcast.

@@kayceegNichole click the link in her description. When you go to sign up, it says that. Then you would continue and put your info in.
