PHILIPPINE CURRENCY MADE SIMPLE

  • We all do it...don't we? Well, I do, anyway! Arrive in a new country and get confused about the local currency and what each note is worth.
    In this brief vlog I explain what the Philippine Peso notes are worth in UK pound and USD conversions. It's not meant to sound patronizing, coz I would have wanted to see a video like this before I arrived in Manila and it never does any harm to familiarize with the local currency before you start spending.
    Hope this is useful and, if you're planning a trip to the Philippines, please refer back to this video to quickly remind you of the currency and what it's worth.

      Hi, Jimmy. May seem like a curious video, but you'd be amazed how many questions I get asked regarding currency in these countries.

    I find it easier to think of it in USD (Even though I'm a Brit). $1 = roughly php 50. So php500 = roughly $10.

    Once you remember not to confuse the peso with the Thai baht, everything falls into place and you will notice how cheap it can be compared to Thailand.

    Useful if you've actually got Philippine Pesos. On route to Manilla I tried and failed miserably to obtain the Peso in Saigon. Doh! Cheers 🍺🍺🍺🍺🍺

    In any of your travels, would you ever recommend using a credit card?

    • @STEADY599
      @STEADY599  5 лет назад

      Hi, David. I would only use a credit card for hotels, personally. Never for bars, restaurants or small transactions, though others would disagree.

    Unfortunately currency conversion has gotten way more complicated over the last 10 years or so for us Brits, when pesos used to equal pennies. Great days back then.

    the 50 and 20 notes look familiar to me, so maybe they were around in the eighties, not sure though! on the 500 note, the photo shows the Aquino couple, i reckon. thumb up #128

      @STEADY599  5 лет назад

      Hi, Pique. This thing you have to be concerned with is the similarity between the 100 and the 1000. Easy mistake to make.
