I have been in the ministry of 'Making Disciples' for 5 decades and learned a few things. When we look at failures we mention 'The Fruit of the Spirit' which are rarely taught in a practical application in most churches. As a Therapist I learned how to interact clients with the behaviors that causes them to think deeply and develop new behaviors that move us toward doing what Jesus did. I learned how to be a peaceful presence speaking the truth in love and unleashing the power of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit offers us truth, fruit, gifts, and power. So far The Holy Spirit is largely left out of this discussion. These three remail; Faith, Hope, and Love. Discipleship is not hard it is missed. Our leaders are Overeducated and Underprepared. Most churches are not structured for equipping and serving.
Thank you for a real conversation! I would love to hear why you, Carey, left a denomination.
