English Barley Wine - David Heath recipe.brewfat...
Bradley I was wondering about that SS mill, I hope the new mill is better. you are right that crush looks a bit all over the place, i see flour and whole barley. I agree recirculate for an hour is overkill, i recirculate for about 35 to 40 minutes, I would probably only do it for 20 minutes but i also need to hold temp with the re-circulation. nice clean setup, Cheers Buddy!
I do too I've had it sitting in the box since Tuesday, I just haven't had the time to unpack it. I'll definitely make a video going over it for better or for worse 😂😂😂 Thank you very very much my friend !
That pint of Kolch at 12.25 looked superb, i'm not really a lager drinker [ales really] but i think i'll brew that bad boy soon...
Definitely worth it
Great video! I am brewing David’s barleywine this weekend.
Something tells me you won't be disappointed ! Let me know how it turns out?
Always good to see ya brewing!
Thank you it's always good to brew!
Loving these videos man, keep at it. Let us know when you get the new ss brewtech mill, I've been wanting to get a reliable mill but I haven't found a good one yet. Your results are slightly concerning for that product but hopefully the new mill resolves them.
Thank you I plan on it !
Hey Bradley, DH brewed it on a grainfather. Soon to be renamed the G30. The G70 has had significant changes made to the system as well as an upgrade to 70L (60L batch size).
That brand left a very bad taste in my mouth. Sometimes I have trouble keeping it under wraps, Sometimes I just have to think positive thoughts lol
Sorry for all of the questions this week.
Do you still use the second screen over the mash in the mash ton when using the sparge hat? Or is that only used when you use the tube/hose method.
Don't worry about the questions ! I actually switched to a recirculation manifold of only used it a couple times I'm pretty happy with the results.. the mesh that works just fine. You just don't want to run it to aggressively otherwise you're going to risk excessive aeration.
Love your videos, but why b80, b40 and b150 in title, kinda misleading
Thanks I don't mean to mislead anyone I just want to make sure everyone finds content if they're looking for it.
What is your water to grain ratio? By default, brewfathers telling me 1.821 for the b80.?
I’ve been using 1.4 currently qt lb
Bradley, Are you starting with tap water?
I typically use reverse osmosis. However for this particular style my tap water might actually work pretty well.
Iv looked at this recipe. It’s just the thought of storing it for a year before it’s drinkable. Will you throw in a glass demijohn or keg or just drink it sooner?
I used Kveik so hopefully it conditions a little bit quicker than a year. I plan on storing it in a keg for at least 6 months. if I need to go longer I absolutely will.
Portly Gentleman love the brew vids. Be great to see some tasting vids of the results, especially this one.
@@bigglesbrewery That might be possible, I'm not actually a qualified beer judge.. I know what I like and I know good from bad. So maybe
Portly Gentleman none of us are, well most of us aren’t. I’m def not. Just good to see. Anyways thanks for the content.
