    Great video as always Brian. I realised today that I had only half watched this , so I rewatched the whole thing in full flow. I think it is fair to say that at first this system feels more complex than a normal homebrew system. I think it is key to give new users the advice of doing a trial run with just water. The pipework configurations and operation of this system is more akin to a smaller commercial set up. This is fantastic once you figure it all out but like you rightly point out there is a learning curve. My brews after this learning curve were sheer poetry in motion as the rest of the user base has found.

    Awesome video as always, may I have a recommendation for a future video. I have been a fan for years, and have watched the majority of your videos transitioning from your 3 vessel custom electric brewery to all of these modern homebrewing systems. I have a propane 3 vessel system and have taken a step back to single vessel biab indoors now for ease of cleaning and more accurate control, trying to emulate a bigger batch brewery looks neat but I realize comes with many headaches and labor for such a small batch volume return. With that, could you do a video on your experience between all of the different approaches and where you see the best experience and results presently. Cheers

      I'm replacing my Braumeister 20L with one. It turns up tomorrow. I expect it will take a while to get used to, the Braumeister is pretty much automatic to the point of being too easy if you want to feel like you're the one who made the beer. It also means things like hopstands are a little harder to do. There's not really any ability for that in the recipe programmer.
      My main motivations for replacing it is to do bigger batches, brew faster (faster heat up) and to get a counterflow chiller as I hate all the water wasted with the immersion chiller. Hoping this cools a little faster.

    Those "exciting" brew days sre a challenge but rewarding when you still get good beer. Ive always disliked the single vessel systems with the display/user interface attached to the body due to moisture etc and a touchscreen in a damp enviroment is a bad idea. A remote mount option for the control would make sense so you could hang it on the wall etc.

    • @ShortCircuitedBrewers

  • @matthewhornbaker7145

    For the price, is this equipment worth the buy? I first learned about this kettle when watching David Heath and got excited until I saw the price. However, I watched Larry from Beer-N-BBQ, and other brewers, review the grainfather and figured it would be the cheaper way to go for an all-in-one system considering they all enjoyed using the unit. However, after doing some of my own research I have found mixed reviews for the grainfather with David Heath even saying that the new generation is not of the same caliber as when it was first introduced. He even went on to say that the connect controller has cord melting issues here in the US. Nevertheless, I want a system that will allow me to mash, sparge and drain without having to use a 3-tier system or 2 or more pumps. Like most, I simply don't have the room. What are your thoughts? I am sure you have used or witnessed several of the products that offer what B40 or B80 Pro can do. Cheers!

    • @ShortCircuitedBrewers
      @ShortCircuitedBrewers  4 года назад

      Matthew Hornbaker the quality is on par with the price. As the saying goes you get what you pay for. From a connectivity and control standpoint you won’t find a more sophisticated brewing system than the brew tools system. That said there is a steep learning curve with it in my experience. It might take 2,3 even 4 batches to get dialed in. If you don’t care about touch screen controls and programmable controllers the Anvil system in a 5 gallon batch size is not a bad system
      Neither is the brewzilla in either the 5 or 10 gallon batch system sizes. The accuracy on the brewzilla systems is jot as accurate as the brewtools or the anvil but there are accurate enough to make good wort.
