    Nice video. Would love to see an entire brew day complete with every turn of the valves. Currently selling my Sabco Brewmagic to get something a little smaller, potentially the Brewtools 40. Videos like your makes it much easier to understand the strengths and weaknesses of other systems. Cheers!

      Thank you so much for watching. Operation of the B40 should be very similar.

    Hey man, I just binge watched all your videos while at work Ha. Great stuff. Iv'e been wanting to upgrade from my three ter cooler/propane system to an electric system for a while and have been racking my brain for the last several months between the Robobrew and Grainfather. I was this close to pulling the trigger on the Grainfather then i came across your videos and I'm hooked. As you say there's not many videos on the Brewtool so thanks for what you've done and hope to see more.
    Cheers.
    P.S. congrats and enjoy the 2nd

    Enjoy the videos, Grainfather user at about 40-45 batches. I'm fully satisfied but love the footage of anything Brewtools! Cheers

    Hi Bradley, I'm a great fan of your videos, you do a very thorough and honest job. Quick question, i'm about to buy the B80 (when New Zealand catches up with the rest of the world) and just wondered does the 02 stone and associated pipework come with the brewery or is that yet another accessory. Keep up with the videos please, they are very helpful.

    • @PortlyGentleman
      @PortlyGentleman  3 года назад

      Sadly that is one of the numerous accessories, didn’t you guys just have an earthquake I hope everyone is all right?

    Agree with you about the Grainfather, a very good system but with some minor improvements and additions/upgrades that the GF community wanted/suggested/demanded, which imo have been ignored, the product overall could have been tremendous, i think for a relative AG newby like me its been invaluable to learn the AG ropes so to speak, but i can see a b40 as my future brewkit going forward...very good video btw...

    Sorry second question. How many liters per minute with the 02 stone and for how long.? Thank you

    Hi, I have also experienced problems with the water levels inside and outside the grain basket. I am running a B80 and I made a recipe of almost 17 kg grains (near the maximum capacity). Since I am a newbie I didn't really get the pro tip at 6:40. Another q: When you were mashing (let's say at 3:00 minute) you were also recirculating with the chiller? Thanks a lot !Awesome work!

    Just subscribed! The high-end fittings peaked my interest. I am piecing together an old keggle system with 1/2 inch fittings. Are your fittings 1/2 inch?

    Thanks for sharing your thoughts and tips on the brewtools. Been following your Insta as well. Until i get my own to see for myself, to manage the splashing while recirculating, reckon you could you use a length of silicon hose attached to where the mash hat sits, and run the hose so it sits above the grainbed, gently letting wort return flow just under the surface?

    • @PortlyGentleman
      @PortlyGentleman  5 лет назад

      Thank you very much!
      That's a good idea with the silicone tubing I've seen some people do it. I might give it a try myself. But truthfully the splashing is not bad at all it's super minimal.

    What size are the Tri-Clamp flanges and the actual clamp? Are they of any standard size so that you can order these from other vendors or are they custom built by Brewtools?
    I enjoyed your video and it got me very interested in upgrading from current GF 👍

      They are 34 mm it's somewhat proprietary. You can find them elsewhere if you look.

    Love your videos! Very informative. I have an off the wall question; What is the temp of the wort going into the fermenter (how effective is the counterflow chiller I guess is what I'm asking)?

    • @PortlyGentleman
      @PortlyGentleman  5 лет назад +1

      I think it works well , I'm in southern California and my ground water is still a little warm. So lowest I can achieve right now is about 67 degrees Fahrenheit.

    Hello Bradley,,, have you tried using the fine filter [ to possibly cut down on grain in the boil ] that BrewTools offer's ? Just received one from them and will use it on the next brew

      I have one however, I have not felt the need to use it.

    Unreal video. Just two questions, I take it you were oxygenating with an air pump, and what is your favourite method for unclogging the air stone after use? Cheers.

    • @PortlyGentleman
      @PortlyGentleman  5 лет назад +1

      Yes I was using an air pump, I have a regulator and bottle I used in the past but I couldn't get it to work.. honestly the air pump worked great minimal hassle. I've not messed with the oxygen stone for quite a while. In the past I've used bleach in water. I've also pushed hot costick through them.

      Portly Gentleman What air pump do you use? What pressure level? I am a bit afraid about pure oxygen, with grease/oil it can be dangerous.

    Hi Brad,
    Do you stir your grains at any point during the mash? I know I would be tempted when the water level rise up in the malt basket but I wonder if it would force grain out of the bottom filter...

    • @PortlyGentleman
      @PortlyGentleman  5 лет назад

      I've not had that happen .
      Thank for watching!

    • @PortlyGentleman
      @PortlyGentleman  5 лет назад

      Yes I do stir I just avoid the bottom screen whether or not this does any good I honestly couldn't tell you.. It's what I'm in the habit of doing It seems to work for me encourage you to try whatever you think is best.

    Hey Bradley,
    Deciding how I am going to move to my conical, when gravity is not my friend. (Conical on stand. Top is a few feet higher than B40 exit.) . Gotta use an exterior pump?

    • @PortlyGentleman
      @PortlyGentleman  4 года назад

      The system pump should be able to handle it I would think. I transfer using half inch silicone tubing, I haven't had any trouble yet.

    Want are your thoughts on the no sparge full volume brewing on the system?

    • @PortlyGentleman
      @PortlyGentleman  5 лет назад +1

      It's definitely doable you're going to sacrifice some efficiency of course. Personally I enjoy the sparging process, so I see myself doing that for the majority of my brews. Having said that I can definitely see myself doing it in the future again.

    • @PortlyGentleman
      @PortlyGentleman  5 лет назад +1

      There's also one other huge positive. For beginners it might actually be the best way to go about brewing the first couple of times. The increased water volumes definitely, make the b80 far more forgiving.
      In my opinion at least.

  • @smallbatchbrewingco5675

    What efficiencies are you getting please ?

  • @johnfreeborn979

    Also, how are you going with the Fermzilla, leaks or other problems and how the beer turns out.

    • @PortlyGentleman
      @PortlyGentleman  5 лет назад +1

      I really like i I think I'm going to have to get the bigger one once it's available! The beers are all turning out pretty good! I definitely like pressurized fermentation even if you just use a few PSI. I really want a stainless steel pressurized fermenter.
