      Ayrton Bondzanga I think this was scripted. The new car is better in every single catagory except weight. It makes up for that in power and torque, which the original lacks.

      Every single category except weight... which is the most important category for cars in this performance tier. The lighter AE86 can keep its speed up in the corners better and is generally more nimble.
      Not to mention that you can buy a used USDM AE88 (basically an AE86 with some chassis tweaks) for around $10,000, which is about half the cost of the GT86. An authentic RHD JDM car will be a bit more expensive due to the "Takumi Tax". You could easily build an AE86 that can crush a GT86 for the same cost as the newer car.

    • @GlennnD
      @GlennnD 8 лет назад +69

      Not a big fan of NASCAR either but there is still a lot of skills involved. These cars have no Electronics aids or even no injection. So all the cars have the same shape with a carburettor V8 with 800hp. With those fast speeds you need to be tactic with slip stream etc. But anyway still boring yes :P

    • @kenkozawa9810
      @kenkozawa9810 8 лет назад +5

      since nascars are all rated the same it kills the purpose of the different brands involved and even the purpose of the teams in a way...they're just buying good drivers so whats the point in watching..has almost nothing to do with the cars themselves..sadly since there is a lot of money involved it takes away drivers who could probably be better track drivers

    • @SuperMechguy
      @SuperMechguy 8 лет назад +18

      RCPro Driver as much as I don't like NASCAR you need some skill because one little fuck up could end up killing and wiping out half the field of competitors. No fancy computers either to save your ass when you fuck up.

    • @SuperMechguy
      @SuperMechguy 8 лет назад +4

      Ken Kozawa I mean Mercedes has been dominant the last couple years in F1 because of their amazing silver arrows. I really didn't see the point in watching since Mercedes-Benz always won and had the best cars. While we had had other great drivers stuck with worse power units who could give Lewis a run for his money if they had a better car. It's sort of the same situation in F1, where's the point of the race aspect of one teams car is always going to perform drastically better than the others? Driving skill should take precedence not fancy computers.

  • @motorun6482
    @motorun6482 7 лет назад +20

    it's not about the car, it's about how you drive it

  • @999benhonda
    @999benhonda 8 лет назад +115

    would love to see the same race if the drift king were in a GT86. Reason being, the ae86's were clearly more of a handful to drive. Keep an eye on the steering wheel work between the 2 cars. The ae86's are more prone to oversteer and need more steering input, and so the drift king got past in part because the tires wore faster and the car becomes unsettled easier than the GT86. If he were in a GT86, I bet he would not get past.

    • @goracks69
      @goracks69 8 лет назад +10

      I agree completely. It doesnt help that Tsuchiya made 2 minor shifting errors after lap 2. Also, I think he was used to this track, whereas the other drivers weren't. But they were getting more used to it with each lap. All the other drivers best lap times came in much later laps than Tsuchiyas.

    • @impreza0109
      @impreza0109 8 лет назад +19

      Tsuchiya's 86 was tuned for the touge after all. Look at how oversteer-happy it was. If it was tuned for track correctly, say a bit stability and understeer, it could have preserved its tires longer and would have remained at least on the podium.

    • @SimanSlivar

      irs and dual wishbone suspension helps out allot.

    • @MrLolx2u
      @MrLolx2u 8 лет назад +7

      You have to remember too that Tsuchiya's AE86 was tuned and modded to be driven on a touge pass and not on the track which most of these GT86s were tuned to drive on track and on road.

    • @impreza0109
      @impreza0109 8 лет назад

      exactly. on all the previous runs his AE86 did they (DK and his AE86) were fantastic. I really reckon he should've tuned for a bit understeer/stability and he wouldn't be fighting for the car's traction.

    the ae86 still can hold a candle as a formidable opponent on a race track. The car is simply one variable in determining the outcome of a race.

    Why do I get the sneaking suspicion that the 4AGE engine used in these AE86s were rev limited to 8000 RPM to ensure the newer 86s don't get embarrassed by the higher revving older brother? To be fair, what is lacking in down force (GT Wing) and independent rear suspension in the older AE86 models, the race organizers should have granted concession to the AE86s by allowing for higher engine RPM to cover lost ground in the straighter sections on the race track. That would have truely lived up to the Initial D Anime series when Takumi raced cars with such modern day setups.

      LOL. To put it simple the 4AGE that revs at 10,000 rpm are rebuilt. These are the normal 4AGE from factory.

      the new 86s are heavier. the boxer from subaru needed a turbo or a charger to get more performance. the old 86s are at their limit already but since they have less aero and downforce with great drivers they became at par with the new ones.

    Looks like the drift king killed his tyers before the gt86 rasty. It's not the gt86 that beat him. It was his tyer strategy.
