On the one hand it makes sense to have Van Damme be a Johnny Cage skin given that Van Damme was the inspiration for the character of Johnny Cage. On the other hand I really wish that they had just included Van Damme in the game as his own fully-realized persona & character using his own actual Martial Arts moves and given his very own special attacks, fatalities & intro dialogue lines just as they did for both Sly & Arnold in MK11.
I mean to be fair, most of his movie personas are kinda copy paste and none of them have anything that would really stand out in the MK roster. Sly had Rambo who set the bar for the 80’s action hero stereotype and Arnold had Terminator which has become a cultural icon.
He does have a few unique lines of dialogue. Also, since his most famous moves are split kicks and the nut punch, he would basically be Johnny 2.0. @dickcheese5467 Yeah that's always been the one negative against Van Damme's career is that unlike both Sly with both Rambo & Rocky and Arnold with both Terminator & Conan, Van Damme never had his own big franchise character.
