***** I also like your pigtails they make me think that you are Anna from frozen with a positive kind but you are more likely to be Elsa because the voice suits you! ah well You could be both in the musical
As an American, I kind of wanted to burst into tears watching this. I mean, I know it's just one particularly cool place in London, and it's not quite that awesome everywhere else, but just being able to easily find a place to walk in for free and get all your testing done at once without any hassle or worry about random, unexpected fees... that's so cool.
You can get free testing at most (if not all) planned parenthoods here in America too! I'm not sure what city you're in or if there's one nearby you, but it's definitely something to look into! (and they're really kind and supportive and nonjudgemental and also will give you free condoms and other handy sex-safety related things)
I don't know where you are in the US but everywhere I've lived has had a free/reduced cost clinic where you can get tested. Sometimes there is a certain day of the month when you can go for free STD testing. Try googling your city with "free clinic", or you can also try calling/going to your local health department I'm sure they can help!
violetpolkadots Thank you. I don't personally need to be tested, but the state of our healthcare is disappointing. And yes, some Planned Parenthood centers are great, if you can get to one. They don't all offer free services- cheaper than elsewhere, yes, but not always free. The United States is a big place, though. If you are in/around certain cities, you might be able to make your way to one, but look up "planned parenthood" on Google Maps, and you will see huge gaps where there's just no way to get to one. Even in the places where there are clusters of Planned Parenthoods, if you zoom in, you'll realize that many people would have to go pretty far out of their way just to get to one, even if it is "nearby." And lots of people- especially young people- aren't going to be able to do that. In contrast, affordable or free healthcare is always somewhere nearby for most people in most countries in Europe- maybe not as awesome as the place Carrie was talking about, but still available.
insomanycolors I wasn't talking about Planned Parenthood in particular, because they are few and far between and I've only lived in one place that had one. Free or income-based clinics are often supported by city/state taxes or volunteer doctors. They offer a range of services, mostly prescribing medications or providing preventative care, and STD testing is usually one of them. They even sometimes have basic dental care (usually cleanings and extractions). They aren't open very often and the wait times are always long, but they are really a great thing and most cities/counties have at least one. The US has issues, certainly, but there are resources out there.
violetpolkadots Yes, there are resources available for some people in certain places. We're certainly better off than Africa. But for a "developed" country, our resources are pretty pathetic. Free is very, very difficult to find, unless you're in a major U.S. city, and even then... Income-based resources are problematic, especially for people who have no income (and no, income-based clinics don't calculate zero income to mean zero cost- I know this first-hand), or no disposable income. The resources you mention are a case of "better than nothing." Which, in and of itself, is great because there are places that have literally no resources available. But again, especially for young people with limited income and limited mobility (and, in some cases, limited ability to communicate sexual-based needs, especially when they're still living with their parents), these programs still fail to meet people's needs. I commend your optimism, and knowing about, and advocating for, the resources we do have available is important, but so is acknowledging how often those resources are failing millions of people in our country needlessly. I assume we are both advocating elsewhere for better, more affordable, more widely available healthcare, both with our voices and our votes. In the meantime, I reserve the right to find our deliberately stunted healthcare system deplorable and disappointing.
I am just so utterly butterly happy you've made this video Carrie! :) I spent a year in China working as an English teacher but while I was there I found out that they actually weren't taught ANY sex education, so for a couple of weeks I gave some classes and I opened up to them so that they didn't see me as intimidating and I told them that if they had any questions that they could talk to me. I think seeing as though my students were 15-18 and I was 18 at the time, they saw me as a friend they could confide in as opposed to the strict 40 year old Chinese teachers. It is just such an important subject though!
PrettyNiceStuff I was thinking of teaching English abroad too, do you recommend it? That's a great thing you did, thank you for being such a good human :)
Rhea L Well I found it useful as I actually discovered while I was away that teaching is not for me! ahaha but I definitely recommend it if you're interested. I found the best bit was really getting to know a completely different culture and it got me interested in learning Mandarin which is what I'm studying now :) so if you want to be a teacher then that's great, but I found that it opened lots of doors for me too!
Wait you taught English at a school in China when you were 18 ?! And you just took it upon yourself to educate your students on sex ? So impressive... What am I doing with my life ?
I had to get a complete round of tests a few days after my 16th birthday and I was TERRIFIED. All was clear and I've made sure to get tested regularly since, it's still terrifying, but thankfully nothing has ever shown up.
Getting tested is really important. And some advice for anyone who gets tested and who does need to talk to someone, that person is a professional. They honestly don't care about your personal life, just about what they need to know so you are healthy.
That clinic sounds particularly good at being discrete! In my experience, every doctor's office or clinic that offers sti screening, the morning after pill and other such sensitive topics have a card at the desk where you can just point to what you're there for, so you don't have to say it out loud to a waiting room full of people.
This is so important and we are learning about this in school and it's extremely uncomfortable but you honestly should be played in every public school because what you have to say is absolutely relevant and educated. This is wonderful.
This is why you're one of my favourite RUclipsrs. You make actual, important videos that give people good advice and you're so honest about it. So glad I found your channel a few years ago :)
Getting tested regularly is SUPER important especially when you're sexually active. You should also (if you have a vagina) get yearly pap tests if you're over 18. Don't be embarrassed, which is easier to say than do. But the people checking you out really don't care, they've seen everything, or close too. Also, I really recommend a book written by a gynecologist that I got my friend for Christmas two years back called, "What's Up Down There". And Carrie, I'm super impressed that you made this video. Especially with your younger audience that may not be getting decent Sex Education. Sex isn't something to fear or be ashamed of, be safe, be informed, and make sure it's consensual. Have it on your terms when you feel ready
Oh Carrie, you wonderful human being! And I also think that they should talk about things like this in schools, what with everything youngsters are up to, especially with the leaving age going up and that. I remember that they talked about stuff like this, but not what it was like to get tested or anything you just talked about. That was really eye opening so thank you :)
Agreed! I did the same thing a few months ago - also not due to any symptoms, but purely for my own peace of mind. I was also terrified, but it's so much easier than you think! Although my local doctors doesn't sound quite as magical as your place, I can assure anyone not from London that the process holds the same, calm and non-judgemental environment wherever you choose to get tested. And hey, the relief of finding that you're clear is well worth it. Thanks for making a video like this, Carrie :). xxx
woman: what are you going to do with the rest of your day? you: star in a west end show. woman: oh right. you: erm... woman: this will only hurt for a second. you: gahahahahahaahahaaaaagaaaa!
I did not expect a video like this from you, Carrie, but this was awesome! I'm so glad you brought this up. No one should be embarrassed to go to a doctor to make sure they're healthy! Well done.
Thank goodness! The clinic I currently go to for contraception is in a really inconvenient place for me and now that I work near Dean Street, I'm really glad you flagged this up! It sounds perfect and sooo much better comfort-wise than my current clinic. Thank you, Carrie!
Oh I am so glad you made this video! We have a leadership program in our school called Peer AIDS that I am a part of and we basically just give presentations of sexual health. I think it's so important that people talk about this, so thank you :)
Carrie, I thought your hair looks beautiful and this was an amazing video. I am just an average girl, living an average life, waiting to die her inevitable average death, and I mean nothing to you, or to anyone. I've never felt like I truly belonged somewhere until I found your RUclips channel, your videos give me life. You probably won't see this comment, but if you do, all I want to say, is thank you.
I love this thanks Carrie. Resident 'old person' here (30 shock horror!) but I've written research on HIV/AIDS and the history of that and I also work in Student Services looking after students in their first year of University. Both of these things have led me to want to shout from the rooftops how important sexual health is, and how everyone involved just wants to look after you!! So thanks Carrie for being open and honest, the more people who talk about it, the healthier and happier people will be!!
This is the reason why I f*cking ADORE you. You're awesome and I think that more "important" people need to start talking about this out loud. I love you, Carrie! And keep up with the great work!
Carrie, I'm really proud of you for making this video. I was very impressed that you shared your personal experience, because it's one thing to say "it's important to get tested" and it's quite another to say "here's what my experience was like". Like you said, sometimes we're uncomfortable discussing these issues, but it showed your viewers that it's something that you take seriously and I think that's so important. Thank you, well done :)
The first time I watched this video when it was first posted, it was so irrelevant to my life. But now three years later, this video right here is honestly the most helpful video on youtube for me. It completely got rid of any anxiety and nervousness I had around getting tested and you even recommended a clinic that frankly sounds perfect for me. Thank you so much Carrie!
I'm really happy about youtubers and people with large audiences being comfortable and open about these topics. When people don't know things where else are they going to find out but the internet? I'm glad it's such a positive outlook on the topics at hand.
As a biomedical science student, I'm really glad you are talking about this and encouraging people to get tested! I know people follow your advice, so thank you for showing how important it is. Maybe one day this will be a simple thing that no one is too ashamed to do.
I was just learning this in PSHE! It is great of you to make a video on this, because people either forget, too shy/embarrassed or don't really think about doing it. Making this video is going to make people really confident and feel much better about it, or do it to be sure! Good for you :)
You are very honest about everything you do and I love that about you. Ive also been reading some of the comments and I think the way you handle yourself is admirable and alot of people should take a leaf out of your book. This subject is one that many people shy away from but there really is no need. The staff see people everyday for the same thing and they see it as normal (which it is) because sex is a completely normal thing. There is no shame in saying "I have sex but I want to make sure im safe and well" because that is being responsible, and you are being responsible by getting tested.
this is sooo important, specially when you may have younger audiences like carrie cause they need to know... they need to be informed, and they need to be safe so GOOD JOB CARRIE!!
you are really awesome for talking about this, i feel like you have an audience who might not get this at home or at school and you talked about this in a awesome and mature manner, you go girl!
I took your advice and went to the dean street express today, it was really good, they were so friendly and I didn't feel embarrassed, all my results are clear and its put my mind at rest, thankyouu! xxx
Just a lil PSA!!! STD= is a disease which means it’s incurable STI= is an infection which is curable and can be treated with stuff like antibiotics Also I LOVE that you made this video and you made it okay and GOOD to get checked especially when you think nothing is wrong!
Sorry to step in but that's not quite accurate! STD stands for 'Sexually Transmitted Disease' but diseases aren't always incurable! Take a look at this site for more info! beforeplay.org/the-difference-between-stds-and-stis/ Infections can turn into diseases if there aren't any symptoms for the infection or if it's not caught quickly but just because it develops into a disease, doesn't mean it's incurable! xxx
Thank you so much for making this video! xx Sexual health is something we should be able to talk openly about and not be embarrassed. It's such a great message to send to younger hopefuls (and everyone else)!
I was glad to see you posted a video directed at the topic of sexual health. It is the sort of thing that is often not spoken of and if it is it happens in hush tones and awkwardly. That clinic sounds amazing! It is the use of that kind of technology that needs to be used by other clinics around the world. Glad to see your results came back clear! Love watching your videos. Have an amazing day!
I didn't read the title properly and for the first few minutes of this video I thought this was a "Dear Tom/Gi". Hoooly moley, I thought that was hilarious. But now that I've switched on properly, what a great video. How important for the twenteen year old RUclipsrs to set a great, relatable example for the younger demographic. Be very proud of yourself, Carrie! X
Excellent video! One of the barriers to getting tested is not knowing what to expect! This video was very informative and positive and I'm very glad it exists!
Good on you Carrie for talking about a topic like this. Just opening up conversations will slowly remove taboos and make people more comfortable with getting tested :)
This is a fantastic video Carrie. I have worked with youth in the past and there are so many young people these days that ignore these problems because they are embarrassed or scared. It's such an easy thing to do and it's so important. By you doing this video I hope it gives people the courage to look into getting tested. :)
I'm very happy you made this! I'm still a young adult, but I was fortunate enough to find resources for education, including youtubers like Sex+ and Sexplanations, and I'm horrified by how little information we were given in school, and in life. Everyone should know the basics of sexual health, and not even just people who have sex, as people who don't need to look after their bodies too!
Every sexual health clinic should be like this place! Only been checked once and it was one of the most traumatic experiences I've ever had, even though I was 99% sure I was all clear! Very very important to go though, regardless. Some STDs can leave you infertile, which can be pretty devastating if you're not keeping on top of it. Or worse, HIV/aids etc. GET CHECKED.
I think this is a really good message but it's also important to remember that not all clinics will be like the dean street one. I've always had the generic test where the doctor does everything and each time it's been completely fine and I've always been given the option of having a female doctor. Even if you are a bit worried and feel embarrassed just remember the doctor is there to help and will have seen hundreds of other people for sexual health check ups. Make sure you keep yourself healthy, you won't always know if there's something wrong xx
Okay, I'm only 14 so I don't exactly have to worry about this stuff yet, but honestly this is one of the best videos on RUclips. This is why you are my idol!! We've all been taught about these sort of things in science and PSHE at school, however it's always been made out as an uncomfortable subject and like you said a taboo. Especially when (even in year 9) the boys laugh every time someone says the word penis or vagina. So it's always been made to me as something I can't talk about and I have never wanted to ask questions for fear of being laughed at or whatever. The fact that you have made this video in confidence and reassured so many people, no matter what their age, is great. Because now I feel assured that I don't have to be embarrassed to ask questions. Also I know that I can feel confident in myself when I get to that age...thank you Carrie :) (Sorry that comment was quite long and waffley:/) -smellycatone x
Getting rid of the stigma is so important and it's important for everyone to understand that getting tested is not mistrusting someone or a reason to be mistrusted. Once you get tested you don't need to assume or guess other people's actions.
Your hair looked really cute in this video! I admire the way you are able to talk to us about almost anything. It makes me feel as if I'm a close friend of yours, even though we've only met through a screen!
THIS IS SO IMPORTANT. I am so glad you made this video. important to add, though: even if you've not had sex before, you and your sexual partner should BOTH get tested BEFORE having sex. you could have sti's from something else because sex isn't they only way they can get transferred (but like you're probably fine. don't panic. it's not common for these things to happen, but you can inherit some from your parents if they were infected and for some reason didn't notice or never told you about it)
Thank you sooo much for this video. I personally have no problem talking about sexual health, but so many people risk their own personal well-being because they've never been able to talk about sex and all that comes with it. So I want to thank you for talking about it, spreading awareness and hopefully ultimately help erasing the Tabu.
Thank you for posting this, Carrie, it's very informative and helpful. I myself am not sexually active but I know that sexual education in schools is usually crap. Especially with you having a younger audience, many of your viewers, sexually active or not, may not have gotten that much information about clinics from their school's health class. I appreciate you sharing this bit from your personal life to help out your hopefuls and make sure we're all healthy. I'm glad that you're in good health yourself :-)
Well done Carrie, as this is a "sensitive" subject to many people I think you did really well. I've been to my doctor and had a doctor conduct my STI check and its not nearly as scary as you think. The doctors have seen almost everything before and its just another day to them, your health is what is most important to both you and them. Smear tests are also extremely important for women whether they're sexually active or not, as cervical cancer can effect anyone! I hope to see more videos like this from you in the future, I know they can get a lot of negative attention as well as positive but remember that you'll always make a difference xxx
Hello Carrie.I loved your hair so much in this video you looked so grown up. That clinic that you went to sounds incredible. The people there must have been really helpful.
Thanks Carrie for making this! It's a topic I've always felt pretty uncomfortable about, so it's really brave and lovely of you to reach out to people who might otherwise find it hard to discuss. :) x
Thank you SO much for making this. My whole life my family has been very open and healthy about sex ed. But I know many people aren't as fortunate. This is one of the most important video you ever made
*Dear Carrie*, I think it's great that you address these sort of matters, it's very important to keep these things as non-embarrassing as possible and something you can openly talk about. I feel like video's like this really help people out and maybe even save lives (not sure how drastic these infections or deceases can get) MoonMistress
Immeh Aleese I know I'm not Carrie, but I hope you see this message. I went through a few rough patches last year, and each and every one of those times I have tried to live by what Carrie has taught me: We are never alone, we are never strange or weird, and if we are it's because that is what makes us who we are and we should celebrate it! So please know, I know exactly how you feel, but we aren't average, we are who we are and that is amazing; we are all unique and brilliant in our own way. If you ever feel lost or alone know that there are people who may not know you, but they will and do care. To quote a favourite film of mine: 'Sometimes it is the people no-one imagines anything of, that do the things no-one can imagine.' This got a little deep, but if I read your situation and how you feel correctly then please take hope from this: people do notice you, and if you ever forget it, this is the biggest and best family to be part of that will help remind you. xxx
I have SO much respect for you Carrie, this message really is important but difficult to talk about. You deserve to be where you are. Thank you for doing what you do :)
Such a great informative video Carrie, you're so right that in the UK we tend to keep shtum about everything, but if we talked about it more, people would be more aware of everything and safer! Nurses always recommend that you get checked out whenever you go in for a any reason, which is great!! xx
I'm really glad you made this video, being a role model for so many young girls. I wish my experience was like that, my clinic made me get tested for everything. EVERYTHING. It was horrible, invasive, painful, I felt like I was being an inconvenience. I did have to answer those horribly embarrassing questions face to face and I never wanted to go back there ever again. And I haven't. Maybe if every place was as friendly I would go there more often. Luckily my college sexual health nurse was lovely and I loved going there, she fitted my implant and made all of my silly questions seem really important. I guess it's just where you go.
I'm basing my English course work on this topic and I'm so happy you made this, I needed someone to tell me the topic wasn't 'awkward' thank you, I love you!! Xx
That sounds like the coolest clinic, ever. Super well designed. I am glad that you are keeping healthy and super glad that you made this video. Thank you.
As someone who's Asexual and has never been sexually active (and probably never will be), this video would at first glance seem unimportant to me - but I do think it is, and I'll tell my friends about it. Side note - pneumatic tubes are awesome.
This is such a good video! Not even just with the content (which is great) but just the way you tell it as well is really good, some of it gave me a good giggle
great, great video! I love your enthusiasm and openness and I found myself being very happy about a review of the process by a person who is not a specialist in the field. I think it is very important for health educators to talk about this but then (in this field as in any other) things might sound simple and conforable to do and they are not for "beginners" and it is so good to listen to you as a person who experiended it for the first time - somehow it makes it much more approachable, less scary. so thank you
Carrie it would be lovely if you could read this!! I'm someone who has never really understood the phrase "role model" and what it entails. On paper it makes sense to me, but I am yet to come across someone who I truly and genuinely look up to admire. You are someone that is making me reconsider my previous stance of the validity and realisticness (let's pretend that's a word) of that term. Everything you say makes perfect sense, is well thought out, well researched and articulately delivered. You cut through the bullshit and how much you enjoy making these videos really shines though the final product. I don't watch everyone single one of your videos (most of them though haha) but I really enjoy hearing your perspective on the world and actually hope that I will be able to emulate your strong and empathetic character as I grow as a person. Not sure if this made any sense but I hope you get where I'm coming from. I wish I lived in London so I could see you perform as well your voice is amaazing!! Lots of love xxxx (Ps I'm an 18 year old girl from Australia)
Great video! Also, little known fact: it is believed that some STDs can be transmitted not only sexually, but by sharing bathroom, so it's even more important to get tested regularly if you live in places like college dorms or hostels where there's 1 bathroom for many tenants. There's nothing embarrassing about caring for you own health and wellbeing
what? that seems extremely unlikely unless they're actively rubbing the toilet-seat and you do that too. Why would you do that.. That seems like a ridiculous claim. Do you have any sources?
Rawr98 true story: someone I know started having symptoms in a period when she had no sexual activity, and when she went for a checkup she discovered she did get an STD. Now, before you say anything, it wasn't one of those that can not show symptoms and just hang out for a long time, but maybe in that case it did, it's hard to say. When she talked to the doctor and mentioned she was renting a place with several friends, the doctor told her it was possible that she got it via the bath/toilet. I don't have any solid scientific proof, that's why I said "it is believed", not "it's a known fact", but it was a doctor's opinion, so judge it for what it's worth. Having regular checkups is the way to go in any case.
Evil Sasha I definitely think your friend is the exception to the rule, if this is actually true. I agree, regular checkups are good, but people should not be afraid to use public toilets, and there's honestly no reason to get checked if you've never had sexual contact with anyone except a toilet haha.
Evil Sasha you can get a genital disease by using an unclean toilet/bath. It's not sexually transmitted diseases though. There's all sorts of things that can go wrong down there, not all of them happen because of sex.
Thanks for talking about this Carrie. So few people do, and maybe if more people were open about it like you it would be less terrifying or embarrassing to get checked out. This was a very cool thing to do :) xx
It's so great that you are talking about stuff like this Carrie! It shouldn't be taboo at all but it's sad that it still is in 2015.. (digging that Lavender Brown hair do as well).
Carrie, I found this video soooo helpful! Me and one of my friends had a whole discussion about this, and she very kindly pointed me in the direction of this video and I can honestly say it helped a lot, I just hope that they can open more clinics like the one you visited to encourage even more people to get tested! Xx
We had a personal development class on this subject, it was very shocking and I am definitely more aware of the dangers, it's important to talk about. Thank you for the video xxx
Why is everyone saying Carrie is misleading people by talking about the Dean Street Clinic? ALL clinics should be this friendly and this professional towards you. Now not all of them have the woosh thing to take your test away and sure some won't just be testing yourself, but the main thing is that her experience of not feeling judged or uncomfortable should be everyone's experience. If a person working there does make you feel like they are judging you or anything like that, you have the right to complain. Carrie has done yet another amazing job of reminding us its okay to talk about it and it's important to get checked out :-)
Good on you for speaking openly about this. We should all have the confidence to be safe and aware of our sexual health. It's pivotal as well that these kind of places are being developed which hugely reduce the stigma (whether perceived or real) of visiting. Be safe people!
This is such an important message to send to the younger viewers. Very happy to see you making a video like this. :) People should also get checked out right before becoming sexually active, as some STIs can be caught without any sexual contact, and you should know if you have any before being with someone else.
Carries the only youtuber ive seen that has spoken about stuff like this and thats why i love her. She uses her channel to help people even though i can tell it was an embarrasing subject to talk about. Fair play Carrie :) xxx
This is a valuable addition to the internet world and you have written and followed a clear format - there has been some squabbling in the comments but would like to encourage you that you have indeed shared a personal experience and raised the (much needed) profile of this 'stuff' in a positive, informative and watchable way. Well done old sport :)R
I went the Dean Street Express a few weeks ago just for peace of mind and it really was as lovely as Carrie said, I was in there for about half an hour max and then after I popped over to Queen's theatre and said hi to Carrie and thanked her for the recommendation, I will definitely be going there again if I need to :)
Carrie's role model status just keeps rising! It's great that she makes these kinds of videos, young people don't need a middle aged doctor to tell them what experiences like this are like, we need someone relatable and I'll be damned if that's not Carrie :3 x
thanks for this carrie :) i'm not in whatsoever way sexually active, as i'm 13, but these aren't addressed. glad to have you as my honorary big sister! xx jordyn
Glad you had such a great experience. I'm a sex educator and seeing videos like this do so much to reduce stigma about getting tested for STIs. Also that clinic sounds so cool!
This is what we need everywhere! I'm over in Ireland and there are NO sexual health clinics. At least, no free ones or none anywhere near me. When I was living in be gland briefly, I thought they were great. Got my pill there, got an std test done, everyone was super nice and not judgemental...but over here you have to go to your GP (which costs 50 euro for me just to see a doctor) which a lot of people (myself included) find intimidating. I mean, I've been going to see that man for coughs and colds since I was a child. Ireland needs to move on with the times and open some of these amazing clinics.
I'm not even socially active.
this is so accurate for me as well 😂
Same! Haha
But you are on the internet so you are exposed to computer viruses.
I'm not even active
My cat is my best friend :)
It's great to see you using your audience to spread awareness! 😊
You're going to make a great mother one day!
What a huge compliment. Thank you! :D xxx
***** I truly meant it - and thank you so much for replying, you've totally made my day! :D xo
***** I also like your pigtails they make me think that you are Anna from frozen with a positive kind but you are more likely to be Elsa because the voice suits you! ah well You could be both in the musical
definately! but if she *wants* to be a mum! :) x

Now that, to me, is the epitome of being a role model (and a good teacher, for that matter). I'm very impressed at the 18 year old you.
Anna Söyland Oh wow, well thank you very much!
Chloe Morley Nope all my tests were clear! :) xxx
I had to get a complete round of tests a few days after my 16th birthday and I was TERRIFIED. All was clear and I've made sure to get tested regularly since, it's still terrifying, but thankfully nothing has ever shown up.
Carrie you're so good. Look how many young ladies you're helping just with this one video! Round of applause girlie xx
Thats great!!!😍
Getting tested is really important. And some advice for anyone who gets tested and who does need to talk to someone, that person is a professional. They honestly don't care about your personal life, just about what they need to know so you are healthy.
Well said! xxx
That clinic sounds particularly good at being discrete! In my experience, every doctor's office or clinic that offers sti screening, the morning after pill and other such sensitive topics have a card at the desk where you can just point to what you're there for, so you don't have to say it out loud to a waiting room full of people.
That's a clever idea! :) xxx
It's great to see popular RUclipsrs spread awareness, good on you Carrie, you're a very beautiful and important person
This is so important and we are learning about this in school and it's extremely uncomfortable but you honestly should be played in every public school because what you have to say is absolutely relevant and educated. This is wonderful.
This is why I love Carrie because of how open she is and how great her life advice is
This is why you're one of my favourite RUclipsrs.
You speak the truth, Carrie! Love you so much. So glad you're discussing this. You are so wise :)
So proud you talked about this Carrie. It's so important that young people understand how easy it is to get checked, and to know that they're well :)
There are nearly not enough videos about this kind of topics on RUclips, well done Carrie! x
I love that you can tell people this knowing you won't be judged I love being a hopeful
I'm pretty sure this comment has already been lost into the internet, oh well, maybe one day I'll be noticed.
I love the fact that you take advantage of your influence to talk to us about stuff like this. THANK YOU.
PS. I'm loving your Lavender Brown hair :)
you are really awesome for talking about this, i feel like you have an audience who might not get this at home or at school and you talked about this in a awesome and mature manner, you go girl!
I took your advice and went to the dean street express today, it was really good, they were so friendly and I didn't feel embarrassed, all my results are clear and its put my mind at rest, thankyouu! xxx
Carrie, it's so great you are talking about this in a normal, conversational way. Cheers!
Just a lil PSA!!!
STD= is a disease which means it’s incurable
STI= is an infection which is curable and can be treated with stuff like antibiotics
Also I LOVE that you made this video and you made it okay and GOOD to get checked especially when you think nothing is wrong!
Sorry to step in but that's not quite accurate! STD stands for 'Sexually Transmitted Disease' but diseases aren't always incurable! Take a look at this site for more info! beforeplay.org/the-difference-between-stds-and-stis/
Infections can turn into diseases if there aren't any symptoms for the infection or if it's not caught quickly but just because it develops into a disease, doesn't mean it's incurable!
xxx
Thank you so much for making this video! xx
Sexual health is something we should be able to talk openly about and not be embarrassed. It's such a great message to send to younger hopefuls (and everyone else)!
I just love how supportive and open you are about a sensitive topic like this! I honestly do wish that you were my big sister :(
I was glad to see you posted a video directed at the topic of sexual health.
Can't believe it was nearly a year ago today I flew from Glasgow to London to see you in Les Mis :) forever and always my inspiration
Also I know that I can feel confident in myself when I get to that age...thank you Carrie :)
(Sorry that comment was quite long and waffley:/)
-smellycatone x
Im glad you made this video! It's important for people to be safe and get these things checked out without feeling embarassed :)
This is an example of taking advantage of your large fan base in the most perfect way. Keep being you!
This is one of the most important video you ever made
I honestly find this so nice x it's comforting to know that there are some British people that are willing to talk about these things 💖
*Dear Carrie*, I think it's great that you address these sort of matters, it's very important to keep these things as non-embarrassing as possible and something you can openly talk about. I feel like video's like this really help people out and maybe even save lives (not sure how drastic these infections or deceases can get)
MoonMistress
Carrie, you were already in my list of favorite people, but this earned you so many bonus points in my heart!
I'm basing my English course work on this topic and I'm so happy you made this, I needed someone to tell me the topic wasn't 'awkward' thank you, I love you!! Xx
So glad you bring up these topics, they will help so many people
That sounds like the coolest clinic, ever. Super well designed. I am glad that you are keeping healthy and super glad that you made this video. Thank you.
Thanks you Carrie for being so open and talking about a subject that's not talked about enough!
I think it is very important for health educators to talk about this but then (in this field as in any other) things might sound simple and conforable to do and they are not for "beginners" and it is so good to listen to you as a person who experiended it for the first time - somehow it makes it much more approachable, less scary. so thank you
i have been putting this off for weeks and this video could not have come at a better time for me! thank you so much!
Lots of love xxxx
(Ps I'm an 18 year old girl from Australia)
Great video! Also, little known fact: it is believed that some STDs can be transmitted not only sexually, but by sharing bathroom, so it's even more important to get tested regularly if you live in places like college dorms or hostels where there's 1 bathroom for many tenants. There's nothing embarrassing about caring for you own health and wellbeing
what? that seems extremely unlikely unless they're actively rubbing the toilet-seat and you do that too. Why would you do that.. That seems like a ridiculous claim. Do you have any sources?
Rawr98
true story: someone I know started having symptoms in a period when she had no sexual activity, and when she went for a checkup she discovered she did get an STD.
What? You completely change how I view public bathrooms, thx I quess
Carrie has done yet another amazing job of reminding us its okay to talk about it and it's important to get checked out :-)
Carrie this was a really important, brilliantly done video. You make an awesome big sister to so many xxx
i love how you talk about what needs to be heard even though it is embarrassing. also you look sooooo amazing and pretty as always. :)
People should also get checked out right before becoming sexually active, as some STIs can be caught without any sexual contact, and you should know if you have any before being with someone else.
Thank you so much for making this video! I agree with you wholeheartedly, it is so important to talk about sexual health and we don't do it enough.
your attitude to these sorts of things is so positive and refreshing.
keep it up carrie!
xx
I went the Dean Street Express a few weeks ago just for peace of mind and it really was as lovely as Carrie said, I was in there for about half an hour max and then after I popped over to Queen's theatre and said hi to Carrie and thanked her for the recommendation, I will definitely be going there again if I need to :)
Love your "British accent" in the first part :P
Thanks for sharing Carrie, I hope this will help many people!
Carrie's role model status just keeps rising! It's great that she makes these kinds of videos, young people don't need a middle aged doctor to tell them what experiences like this are like, we need someone relatable and I'll be damned if that's not Carrie :3 x
thanks for this carrie :) i'm not in whatsoever way sexually active, as i'm 13, but these aren't addressed. glad to have you as my honorary big sister! xx jordyn
You are a wonderful person Carrie. I want to be such an inspiring and smart person when I grow up.
Thank you making this video! You aren't too afraid or too embarrassed to tackle a uncomfortable subject head on.
Great video, Carrie! It's way past time we started taking this stuff seriously!
