Thank you so much! We (and our dog) aren't traveling for 11 months, but we wanted to be well prepared ahead of time. We've purchased the crate and have it in the house now so she can get used to it. We plan to feed her in it and encourage her to take breaks in the crate. I'm so glad I came across your video, it's the best I've seen on how to prepare the actual crate. I'm looking forward to watching your video on preparing the dog itself for the flight. We want this flight to be as smooth and easy for our German Shepherd as possible! Edit: Well shoot. Your video on preparing the dog itself has been changed to private, no viewing allowed. :(
My partner is moving from florida to UK and we have to bring COCO the yorkie. We cant leave him so this is one flight we must make with him.😢
My beloved late dog Max flew cargo from UK (after a lot of self debate, questioning and concern etc) to Spain, he was a highly intelligent, trusting and self-confident dog. What needs to be changed is the overall time that the dog is away from its owner.
What needs to change is this highly expensive middleman cost that they call "specialised live animal freight agent companies, that you are forced to use by the airlines that prolong the time that your dog is (unnecessarily) away from its owner. Below is an example:
- Max collected from home by the agent at 5am on day of flight (although they wanted to collect him 24 hours earlier!?
- Flight departure was 1pm.
- Flight duration 3 hours.
- After landing I did not see my dog until approx 6pm, when I collected him from an adjacent courier warehouse at the airport!.
So a 3 hour journey actually took my dog 13 hours!. This is because the partnership between the "airlines recommended animal transport agents is disguised has an absolute necessity for flight!??.
When you consider that your dog has been certified fit to fly by a vet and this has been documented, and you have purchased the specially built wooden personalised flight crate from "the agent" (yes, the agent!), and then your dog has to be checked by their "recommended vet" and hang around at the airport (in thier crate) why does your dog have to be away from you for 13 hours - when a dog that is under 8kg and of a small size travells on the flight which takes 3 hours.
We need to cut out the middleman! After all the documentation has been supplied we all should be able to transport own dogs to the airport to minimise the time they are away from us and check them in onto the flight (although in cargo) like all the smaller dogs which are allowed in cabin.
Many crates have a rigid grate at the bottom that is above the absorbent pads to .....
Cloud you please Shake the size of the crate selected for the dog on the video?
Hi, thanks so much for this very helpful video. We are moving from Beijing to NY on a 15h flight. How big do you recommend the water bottle on the outside to be? Our dog is a mixed breed and weighs around 15kg. Of course you also don't want to have too much water for him so he has to relieve himself a lot. Thanks so much for your advice and all the best.
Thank you!! I love your lovely boy and your soothing voice! We are flying soon this is very helpful!
thank you
Some changes .... I just flew with our dogs yesterday. Unless they're traveling a very, very long way; food is not needed on the top of the crate, nor is the food bucket inside the crate, of course. They did NOT want the leash and collar on the crate; pulled my taped zip lock off and told me to keep it with me.
Thanks for all the info🙏
is it necessary to keep the original documents on the crate, or I can just keep the copies on the crate while I keep the originals with me.
Hi, I know this is a year after but I also have this question. When you travelled, did you put the original copies or photocopies??
I'll appreciate a response please. Thank you. 😊
We are traveling with our beagle from India to Kuala Lumpur Malaysia. My dog is extremely anxious in general so we are praying for a smooth transition for him. My concern is the leash - he is a runner and im worried that once airport personnel open his crate he will for sure try to escape. Without his harness i doubt how they will control him. He is food motivated though so hope that will help. What do you suggest?
Really well done. Very useful. Thank you!!!
Thank you for this helpful video!! Although I have a question: Where did you get the forms to get into the State of Washington in the US?
Thank you! Best contact the State of Washington for details as it might depend on where you are traveling from.
Where do I get the water bowl for my large male golden retriever? Notice she has a larger Bowl can you please send me a link.❤
Hi there! This is a really great informative video. Could you tell me what crate this is please? It looks perfect.
Thank you 😊 I believe it was a “sky kenny”
How tall is your dog im this video? Thank you. This was very help video to watch.
I want to move from Arizona to Thailand and I really don't know what service to use to ensure the safety of my dog. Can you please recommend any companies?
When animal in cargo who feeds animal just like flight attendant serves riders who gives food to animals if food tape to crate?
Best to check with the shipping company what their practices are
Awesome video I will be taking my 2 year old German Shepherd with me from the US to the UK! I loved everything about this video. Thankfully I will not be working with any middleman going to ensure I have all thre requried documents!
I forgot to ask what is the dimension of this crate? My 2 year old is about the same size
The dimensions are 106*70*76 cm.
I have got 48' IATA approved cage, but it's without wheels....how will I carry it on airport without wheels? I bought a branded crate but don't know why there is no wheels
At the airport, you can put it on a trolley. They have special ones for oversized luggage.
Hi! Do you recommend feeding the dogs 3-4 hours before the flight or before they get checked in? Our flight is about 14 hours long. Also, should I put the water bottle inside or outside the door?
Hi did you do your flight yet? If so was your dog ok? My dog is flying 12 hours soon and i'm very nervous thanks
@@chazza47 Hi! Not yet, our flight is at the end of March. I'll let you know how it goes.
@@zxjellydonutxz please let us know, I am in the same situation :(
@@flaviassimas Hi, I'll update you guys after my flight.
@@zxjellydonutxz hi there? Do you have an update? Would love to know how it went :)
I need a link for a crate…
Hi, please explain more about the water bottle. I am really worried about it since airline says they will not give water and food to my dog during stop over and I want to make sure that water bowl will not become empty when the plane takes off. I will appreciate it if you can help with this. Which type of water bowl should I look for to purchase?
You should get your dog used to drinking from a bottle (like those used for bunnies, just bigger). Start with something tasty inside, like chicken broth to teach your dog to drink from it.
Thanks a million.
I will start training her.
Great video! I'm moving and I am going to take my 2 year old Yorkshire terrier with me. She is small enough that she could fit in the cabin, I am flying KLM, do you know what I should do in order to make legible to go with me in the cabin? Another question, do you recommend sedating her?
I have the same question. I'm moving to Amsterdam next year and I'm taking my beagle with me. He'll be traveling in cargo and I'm very worried.
Thank you! KLM is a great pet friendly airline. Best contact KLM about their current pet policies on your planned route directly. I would recommend training your Yorki to be comfortable and well behaved in her carrier rather than using tranquilizers.
What size crate should I buy for my 1 year old Golden Retriever ???
The dimensions are 106*70*76 cm.
thanks for video!!!
what is the model of the crate?(name or length)
The dimensions are 106*70*76 cm.
Hi what size crate is for your golden retriever?
The dimensions are 106*70*76 cm.
Hi! In your intro, I saw that you have a Belgian Malinois. What's your recommended crate size (LxWxH) for your Mal? Thank you!
The dimensions are 106*70*76 cm.
Loved it!!
Which brand of dog crate did you purchase? I am looking to purchase one for my Labrador.
hi where did you buy the dog crate and water bottle?
online
What was your purpose of taping the bag of food to the top? Will the airline staff fill the food bowl during the trip, or is it so you can easily fill it up yourself when you arrive at the airport?
Toffee had a long stop over on her flight and the airline did feed her during this time. Some airlines offer this service, others don't 😑
In the event of unexpected delay or misrouting, your dog will have easily accessible food
So if it is a long flight you recommend one with no stops?
That depends on the dog. The loading and handling is usually the most stressful part. If you want to avoid that look for a direct flight.
Safe travels!
I follow your channel for a while. (Love your Boston Terrier!) I really like this video content. I hope you will do more. Btw, how do you prepare the short muzzle dog like Boston Terrier for a long flight and is it possible at all? Thanks.
Techat Pooshutvanitshakul Thank you 🙏 Great to hear that you like our videos!
Traveling with a snub nose is more difficult as many airlines will not accept them, there are some, but maybe not the most direct connection.
Their crate should be a bit larger, and I would try to pick times for the flight when it’s cooler, eg at night.
I am very lucky with Shauna as she is only 5kg and was able to travel with me in cabin ✈️
Do the crates not go stacked on top of each other during the flight? If so, wouldnt the food and leash be in the way? Ive never heard of such a requirement
no they dont stack animal crates thats super unsafe thats why space is always so limited
@@michelemarmelo3699 ive seen some photos where they were stacked actually but now I'm starting to have doubts. Maybe those are only cargo flights.
Do we put the harness in with the leash?
Not while your dog is in the crate. Put it in a zip-log bag and tape it on the crate.
How did the dog do?
Very well! Thanks 🙏
How do they feed your dog?
It depends how long the flight is and if there is a stop over. For details best contact your airline
Hi! I’m flying by emirates soon. My GSD has separation anxiety, I’m not sure how he will do during the flight ( it’s 2/3hours)
Also we are moving back to UAE and don’t know how to adjust him to the new environment.
Do you have any tips? Thanks!
The peds should be under the blanket or above?
And also from here I can buy this hanging bowls and water?
Under, at the very bottom so that your dog cannot bite it. Did you check your local Amazon for the bottles?
Thank you
What is the Size of this Crate?
Extra Large
Will my pup be traveling with me in the same plane. Or other plane.
Depends on what you book. If you can book as “excess luggage” it will be on the same plane.
How do I choose the correct size crate? Thank you.
Have your dog standing in a natural position and measure her total height, from the top of her head (or tip if the ears) to the toes.
Your crate should be slightly higher than what you have measured, so that your dog can stand in a natural position without touching the top.
I have an EU petpassport do I still need a health certificate?
Depends on your airline and destination
@@KaniKraze I’m using KLM from helsinki to Netherlands and then final destination in atlanta, USA.
Where do you buy the crate in Thailand? Any shop recommend? I’m looking for the big crate. I want to take a golden retriever as well. Your size is 40” or 48” ? 🙏🏻
This agency is very helpful.

Hi! How long was this flight? Hope the pup did well. I’m planning to adopt a dog. Will eventually have to move to India from Seattle. I’m so worried about transporting my dog in such a long haul flight. Will there be puppy comfort breaks? Will they get potty breaks and food water in such long journeys, thank you 🙏🏽
This particular flight was 27h without a break out of the cage, she did it without an accident!
If the dog gets a break depends a lot on the airline and how long the stop over is.
Several European airlines have fantastic stop over facilities for dogs, where they get walked and fed.
what do you mean no accident? I hope she peed during that 27 hours??! Maybe she peed and it was dry by the time she was picked up? It would be so unhealthy to go 27 hours without peeeing at all wtf
Hi there! I might be moving to Spain from the US for work in the next few months. I have an almost 5 year old husky who would be going with me. I am looking into IATA crates to purchase so i can start to get him comfortable just in case. What crate would you recommend? He is not as anxious as he was when he was younger, but he has never flown before so i am not sure how he would react. Anyhow, it looks like you have a sky kennel or vari kennel in this video. Just curious if that is what you are using? I have seen a bunch of mixed reviews on those 2. Some are very good reviews and some are very bad reviews. Any advice would be appreciated. I definitely want to purchase something in the next week or 2 so i can begin the training. Thank you-
Matt
Hi Matthew! Great that you are preparing your dog for the big move.
I do not have any preferred brand, either one of those that you mentioned are good quality.
Have a safe flight ✈️
hi Matthew, how did it go? I`ve to move from ireland o usa with a big dog and am pretty nervous...
I have been trying carte training from last 2 months. Not successful. My dog has lot of anxiety.
Use a blanket that they have slept in, sometimes that works. Then use treats to get to the cage but don’t close the door, they can come out whenever or sleep there. Also when you feed to dog, you can feed them in the crate. That’s a good way to start. Then when they’re sleeping around the apartment search airplane sounds on RUclips and play it. After some time when they’re in the crate play the airplane sounds.
Can the create be too big?
Yes. Airlines do have maximum dimensions that they will accept. Also, you don’t want your dog to move around in the cage.
which type of plane do you recommend ? which international airlines are the best?
This totally depends on your route. If at all possible I would choose a nonstop flight. Check with the available airlines about their pet policies
why is all these vids talk as if they are teaching a 2nd grade class room.....
What brand is this crate? Do you think a lab would fit in an XL?
Hi! Did it fit into XL?
Hi! Did he fit in the xl crate? I have a lab too and Im not sure if I have to buy an xl or an xxl
