I like these videos when you're in Japan and talking about Japanese bass fishing its really intriguing to me like how largemouth are invasive species at lake Biwa and just the whole culture is cool keep em coming man
Thanks for sharing this video Geoff. It’s super fascinating and I completely agree with you. It’s all about perspective. I cannot wait to visit Japan and that beautiful ancient lake.
Hello, I am Japanese. I am such a bass freak that I go to America every year. Lake Biwa is famous in USA, but I recommend Lake Ikehara. The record for lake is 17 pounds. My record is 7 pounds. Ikehara is an officially recognized big bass lake in Japan. Bass are a managed resource there. In 1984, Florida species were imported from Florida. Not illegally. There are great hot springs spa and accommodations in great mountains. siper countryside, peaceful, so great view. Above all, Village on lake is friendly to bass anglers. In my opinion, it is the best lake in Japan.
Great content, love that you bring us along to your Japan trips and journey to personal fishing fulfillment’s.. keep this up, this is honestly as close as I’m going to get to fish in Japan, through your experiences..
In Japan, if you want to bass fish, Biwa is the best place to be. If you live in the Nagasaki area, it totally sucks. In my area, their frequently draining the ponds and lakes for maintenance or farming. Bass boats are limited to 2 H.P or only electric at some places. Anything over 2 H.P and 11 feet and you need a boat license to operate it. I recently switched over to only ocean fishing. A lot less of a headache. :)

Been visiting lake lake Biwa 8 years with only Okappari style. This year I went 11 times and got 5 fish’s which over 50cm. All of it caught by ‘jig head swimming style using Depth death adder with 0.9 jig head that result indicate lake getting tight(I mean difficult) for angler. Thanks always share great video. Also please come to Biwa more🎉
First, this is an awesome video to educate us here in the United States, who do not really know anything about fishing largemouth bass in Japan. Another successful Lake Otay/Florida strain of bass that has thrived in an ideal environment, well away from its home waters. Second, in a lot of respects, it seems like the Japanese lakes you have fished are not 'spoiled' and 'pressured', for a number of reasons. Sure, anyone could go fish Biwa from the shore, and that angler could even catch a big bass, via American standards. And that is all well and good, for the rank and file fishermen and women. Yet, a lack of boat ownership (as well as fishing from them), remote access at some lakes, and the time and expense required of being committed to large catches, let alone the time it takes to gather practical bass fishing knowledge that will change from year to year, keeps the lakes less pressured, the bass fat with plentiful and unaltered forage, and the rewards of a catch greater, under the circumstances... In some ways, the bass are super spoiled within some of your catch descriptions, and I easily can see why they short strike their meals.: For another bait fish is just around the corner, if the bass lying in wait doesn't get a good grasp at their intended meal, with the first strike at their target. For the lake is so full of sizable forage, the bass will just wait for its next victim to swim into its ambush spot.
You’re right, tons of forage in the lake. I just think that the fish see so many lures and can be quite unsure on if it’s real or not so they eat it differently then how they would with a real prey item.
The way you describe remind me of a lake in North Cal. The bass on south side of the lake love to hit crankbait because of shad. Whereas the north side is full of rocks and they love eating jigs because of craws in the area.
Listening to you describe the difference in the bass from north side of the lake to the south sounds like the northern strain and southern strain separate
What was the moon phase during the good four bite day? How many rod/reel combos do you bring to Japan? How many baits? Are you rods multi piece or one piece? How much tackle you bring? Is it hard getting on public transit with your fishing gear?
Thanks for the video. After watching a lot of your content and a lot of the Japanese content and just basically trying to be a observer of lake I found out that presentations that are easy meals like your bull flats that when are doing the death spiral the dead walk. All of these presentations are so deadly because they come off as an easy meal as a dying bait, fish or dying panfish you know whatever. I have had a great time so far this fall and before fall started it. I was just having such good luck and still am having good luck with the depth bull flat 4.8. you know whenever you pull that baby up and let it spiral down that death roll has something about it that just computes to the fish. Hey, guess what? Easy meal, easy meal and they hesitate none whatsoever to eat it. I guess I could have just said that the bass fishing has been really good here in North Texas using ing. The bull flat 4.8 the or jackal Honey Nugget. All pretty much all the bluegill imitator baits and there's tons of them out there now. Should work great
Need a multi for that terrain - do not want to snap a5 00 dollar rod off on a tree branch!! - I see the rocks off the Island - try to throw a Sleeper or Beaver Magnum - matching color and size-
Good fishing in Japan has Alot of good fishery's but is most important is the unreal water systems that contain jade color water that I would have to imagine makes a next level angling experience, so enjoy the different body's of water out their in Japan and its good to see a brotha pioneering international expeditions from boast to boast.😅
I’ll be honest, I could someday see myself going to Japan to do some sightseeing, hitting up tackle shops, maybe a day or two fishing. But 8 days of getting skunked sounds awful 😂
Hey GEOFF, I have a question for you. I have an Expride over8 190XXH 9’ . I was wondering if I can throw both glides and the Huddleston’s on it? I’ve searched and searched and can’t find any info on it. Just don’t wanna break the tip off my rod can you help me?
If you want the true Okappari challenge, then you need to fight Yodo River here in Osaka. That’s a true shore fishing fight. I’d only disagree on Ikehara and Nana being the next most famous to Biwa but it doesn’t matter, stunning places to fish. I didn’t get to to do Ikehara this season but next year I’ll try and hit it a few times
Biwa is amazing but we definitely have much better fisheries here in the states, but i get it man theres something about catching Biwa bass i totally get it

Do we want more videos describing your experiences in Japan? In a word, yes! Great video. Thank you.
You are unrealisticly persistent.
This video definetly taught me something more than just fishing tricks.
Thank you!
Keep it up, chase your dreams!

Love learning about Japanese bass fishing. I'd love to hear more. Differences in gear and approach. More about the fishing culture in Japan. Thanks.

Jeff, I’ve been watching your channel a lot lately. Genuinely curious if you have a day job or do you just do fishing content for a living?
I just do fishing content for a living actually, between this channel and The Hook Up channel!
He works at the hook up Tackle in Arizona also
I go to Lake Biwa from China every month, and I stick to it like you, hoping that the swim bait can catch big fish, come on!
Cool video! Would love to hear more about your Japanese bass fishing adventures. What was the bait you caught that very last fish on?
It’s called an Imakatsu Javallon 200!
The way you describe remind me of a lake in North Cal. The bass on south side of the lake love to hit crankbait because of shad. Whereas the north side is full of rocks and they love eating jigs because of craws in the area.

Just finished fishing a lake I've only fished once before didn't get anything first trip second only a dink but this video makes me feel better lol
I would be interested in a part 2

Hey Geoff is it true that they don’t catch and release in Japan I was wondering I heard this some time ago ?
If you want the true Okappari challenge, then you need to fight Yodo River here in Osaka. That’s a true shore fishing fight.

I do need to fish Yodogawa! Very famous body of water!
@@crazybassfisher I’ve lived here quite a while, next time you’re over we can hit it up ✌️
Biwa is amazing but we definitely have much better fisheries here in the states, but i get it man theres something about catching Biwa bass i totally get it
Had a question brotha which LDC rod is good for deps 250 or klash 9
I'd like to catch a huge bass in snowy conditions in Japan.
That’s my goal one day! That would be unreal!
Hat is dope is it Swim Baits All Day? Or just a drt hat?
It’s a DRT hat that says “All or nothing” on it!
YES!!
Question? Are you allowed to fish in a kayak there ? Or is it regulated like bass boats
Yes! Kayaks are allowed but aren’t really popular out there yet!
@crazybassfisher that's insane its a kayak fisherman paradise
Going on the buses and trains do you carry a one piece or multi piece rod?
It’s a rod that is ferruled at the grip, makes it a lot easier to move around with
You might be fishing the javelin too slow if the fish thinks it might lose out they tend to strike the head in my experience here in Japan.
Im glad someone gets it #okapari❤
Yo Geoff! I liked and watched the whole video. What’d I win???
Why doesn’t phoenix post videos anymore
I think he retired lowkey
I don't think I could fish for eight days for one fish and still like fishing.
Must be crazy rewarding when it comes together.
Fuck yea brother
