Imagine being an elite knight of the underworld who can control lightning and you get your strikes parried by some dead-weight doing sick kick flips on a rocket-propelled prosthetic arm
I'm just going to come out and say it, this is my favourite breaker in the game. Sure it may not be as useful as something like gerbera or as powerful as something like tomboy; but it makes up for it in fun-factor a hundred times over. This shit is what I've dreamed of ever since that scene in DMC3 where Dante rode that missile, and I can't help but grin like an idiot whenever I use it
21:34 Man, just check that out. It's incredible the amount of care and effort put into this game, such a detailed animation for an extremely niche interaction 99.9% of players won't ever see. Amazing.
Actually, when they were working on the motion capture for Punch Line, Johnny Yong Bosch actually tripped and fell off. The devs loved how it looked and threw it in.
I love all the Devil Bringers, but if I have to choose one I would definitely choose the Punchline eventhough honestly I suck with it the most lol" (before this guide I can only do the charged punch for heavy damage on bosses) Thank you for making this vid! Gonna dive into it deeply to improve on my noobie skills xDD
31:20 Wait! We were supposed to use punchline?! That's why there are so many enemies at the beginning, for obtaining a SSS rank and being able to ride more?! It didn't even occur to me! I just used gerbera A LOT!
Punch-line's boost main advantage over real impact is the guaranteed stun and airbone version, much safer than a regular ground RI. More than makes up for that 400 damage imo
And here I was not using Riding when Nobodies started throwing eyes to not waste the arm by mistake, thanks for all the tutorials man, you are the best! Enjoy your break!
You’re the best man, your edits are top notch, please don’t be afraid to do more. I also believe that Punchline stuns the first tentacle Boss with each Boost Knuckle. Also I used to not use Punchline all that much because I didn’t think it was very versatile. Oh how wrong I was. Thanks for all the effort you put in your videos man, I’m glad you’re back.
This single video remains a masterpiece of implication. After all, if a single EXAMPLE of a single overall Mechanic could possibly house /this/ degree of polish, style, potential and depth, isn't it foolish to assume it isn't elsewhere the case? The game's been out 4 years, played by some of the hardest of the hard core when it comes to digging around, and yet I find myself wondering "DO we know it all? ARE there mechanics yet hidden we don't even suspect, still to this day?" I've seen it said elsewhere, so anonymous credit where it's due. Any single part of any character's entire kit in this game seems to have sufficient depth, explored yet or not, to have qualified as the /entire/ move set of a hack and slash from no later than a decade ago. I truly wish I could buy a Super Thanks. Your videos are somehow as informative as they are entertaining. You mentioned handling burnout. I don't want you to ever look at this game and not feel the same joy the rest of us do thanks to your work, and I feel some kind of monetary compensation might at least help in that regard. Increase the value of what you're doing above it's already stratospheric level. Consider it. There's a lot left that could use your fantastic depth of exploration and communicating, and I'd like to show my thanks for what you've shared already.
Please keep these for Nero Please Keep these for Nero Future Edit: These videos are incredible. Thank you. I'd never have known half of this. I mean, the damn rocket sled gives you a parry /stance/? This game has some of the oddest, hardest parry timings I've ever seen, and one Devil Breaker just gives you a PARRY.../STANCE/.
Oh wow, while I know how complicated punchline is I had no idea that it’s even more complicated than I thought lol. Still, much respect bro for still making the guide for us despite its complexity. You deserve after a break after this one.
This is the best in-depth punchline guide I ever saw. Thank you Alan, for the great content as always. One thing really important for no-damage run players, it can cancel Urizen's crystal repair. So if done correctly, you only need to break his crystal once. It does require precise HP control though, but once figured out, it is not hard to reproduce.
I knew when this one came it would just have oodles of tech. I was still impressed by what you found! I don't think I wanna spend the time to list all the things i didn't know about! Time to get more creative with my magazines i guess :D.
That was great :) Apparently the trip was actually a mistake in the motion capture room where the actor fell. Itsuno liked the footage so much they put it in the game.
hitting boost knuckleon vergil while he's using his dive attack will cause the game to have so much hitstop that the game is paused for 20 seconds unless you DT cancel. its great.
Questions for this guide: 1. For the “Pop Shove It” move (13:26), I didn’t get how to perform said attack. What button do you press to do it? 2. One of the problems I have when riding punch line is sometimes I tend to miss enemies when homing in on them especially when they’re not bunched up together. One example is the 2nd encounter on Mission 3, the one after the pyrobat introduction. When I use punchline on that encounter I tend to get mixed results. Sometimes if I get lucky and they’re all bunched up together and then I hit them with tricks while riding, my style meter shoots up and I get a high score at the end of the fight. However, if they’re too spread apart I find it harder for some reason to home in on them (I frequently miss them and I find it hard sometimes to steer into enemies). It probably also doesn’t help that there are those rectangle box thingies on the rooftops that makes it even harder. So what is your tips/advice to better be able to home in enemies especially if there more than one and they're not bunched up together?
1. Just tap the melee button 2. If you need more time to steer I suggest launching punchline and then doing an air taunt backwards before calling it for riding. That generally puts enough distance to give you ample time to aim yourself at them. Aside from that just drift somewhere near them and use the sideflip (press gun) without moving the stick which automatically tracks enemies to start your combos. Generally focus on one enemy at a time if they aren't grouped up together and jump off whenever things get too hairy so you can reposition yourself.
Something that happened to me once at BP, I was using Punch Line in it's skate mode (hoverboard? Idk) after riding it for a while, Nero suddenly fell from it and the thing exploded. Not only I lost an arm, the fall had a long ass recovery, but made me laugh idk why lol. PD: I'm in part disappointed that Capcom didn't let us have an infinite boost to the 2 seconds while riding it. It would had been fun to try to beat Goliath with only riding punch line lmao
Hey, do you think you could ever do a parry guide in the future? I always want to get good at parrying in games, and this one is no exception. I just want to know what to do, and when basically. Not to mention, all the enemies that CAN be parried, and those who CAN NOT.
Punchline coupd've benefitted from the inertia mechanic And now that I've thought about it, it'd be cool to have a separate mode JUST for riding Punchline

In case you missed the post, gonna take a small break after this. Gotta avoid the burn out.
Hey Alan! I'm going to buy devil may cry 5,so... these videos you're making will help me out in kicking demon ass
this is the coolest weapon since nevan in dmc3, holy research
If youre going to comeback with another guide, do Rawhide since its so simple
Are you gonna cover the dlc arms? (Pasta breaker, sweet surrender, ect.)
Thanks fir your videos

Ouch, my side...
Urizen: *Is this... my limit?*
In other words, a punk-ass amputee.

Kyrie: Nero!
Nico: I leaved you alone for two minutes! what the hell happened!?
Nero: I just wanted to be a pro skater!
Who knew that Devil May Cry 5 would be the best skateboarding game in the last 5 years or so.
never even realized Nero could fall miserably when riding lol
i wouldve never knew that jed gadget break could do more things without you alan
1:01 *Fury gets parried*
*Has a mental breakdown*
Underrated comment
parrying fury is not that hard. just need to set your internal clock to sync with his attack
@@lyraspasar649 I was just referring to Fury freaking tf out by Punchline 😂

Nero's Boost Knuckle and Dante's Real Impact.
Like teacher like student
I can never decide between Punchline and Overture for general use, both are amazing.
Great guide.
To quote The Road to El Dorado: "Both? Both is good."
19:50 not what I expected
dmc's fall damage
little trivia for you if you check the punchline model there is "no step" on it, that why maybe it is timed because we arent supposed to ride it
Very very interesting
devil breakers are destroyed if enemies step on them, most likely it's timed to not overload it, I mean, it moves slower when you're on it
The kickflip mechanics for the punchy rocket arm in this game are deeper than most other action games' combat systems.
6:52 have you ever wanted to punch someone, but they were WAY over there?
Nero Sparda's Pro Skater V
Dude watching your video is like going to lecture of my favorite professor.
This is some mindblowing i didn't know about.,we need tomboy video.

This in particular absolutely blew my mind!
Actually, when they were working on the motion capture for Punch Line, Johnny Yong Bosch actually tripped and fell off. The devs loved how it looked and threw it in.
Nero just wanted a skateboard and now he got his arm cut off because he wasn't wearing any safety gear

The depth of the mechanics of this game just keeps amazing me. Thankful to have your videos for study material.
these breaker guides give a glimpse to what combo video makers can still implement with nero outside of the usual tech. keep on doing sparda's work
no boost knuckle flying vergil parry, dead weight/10

Im excited for this ever since i heard you were working on this ive also been studying punchline and i cant wait to see what i missed.
Riding punchline count as landing, right? It reset all your air moves?
Yeah, forgot to put that in.
That ending lmfao. This video, really shows why you are the best at these guides. Enjoy your break!
