Been researching action cams for months. Very curious of your opinion on something Im going to be travelling around South America and want an action cam that i can use to do a couple things 1 - POV hiking videos in nature 2 - POV walking through a town 3 - *maybe* some vlogging style videos I need a camera that can be recording hands-free. I would like it to be discrete so i can wear it and record around town and not be a big target for thieves/pickpockets, etc. So i dont really want something that draws attention or stands out. Do you think that there is a better solution than the Go 3s? Curious what you wohld recommend for my use case
Honestly I do think the Go 3s is the best one for that very specific video. There are going to be some downsides. Battery life of the camera out of the pod. Not knowing if the camera is filming unless you have the led or beep turned on, but it is the most discreet and hands free. Especially with Your other concerns.
I want to be clear and say I have already returned my Go 3s. I have a new video dropping today with my final tests and am filming my final thoughts video shortly. I still think it’s the right pick for you for hands free discretion. However, the DJI mic 2 with the action 4 and all the other benefits of the Action 4, made it unnecessary to keep the Go 3s at this point. I’m hoping the 4 next summer will be a smash :)
If this is a dad cam for people who want the convenience of just enjoying their kids or holiday without the faf of ugly straps or intentionally filming then the competition for the go 3s would be Meta glasses, action 2, insta360 x4.
There are better options at this price point. Especially if you aren’t reframing in post. For $299 you can get the action 4 bundle, for 399 you can get 2 extra batteries.
just ordered a Go 3S. Honestly I've been a bi iffy on it, but I appreciate your honest reviews. In the end, I think I'll be happy with the 3S, but only time will tell. I feel like its a very niche camera for a very niche utility, so if you aren't planning on doing the very specific things the 3S excels in, there are better options

Anyway i love the comparison. would have been a bit smoother if you labelled each comparison on the screen but i guess you have given us the videos to download. Again Thank you bro
I say the name of each camera and filming settings as it comes up, plus the angles are fairly different. I certainly could have gone through and labeled each section. I’ve done it before. Just didn’t think of it this time.
Honestly, the other platform is absolutely destroying my other digital revenue streams from product reviews. I just wanted to spend enough time on the platform to better understand it before I recommended it as "The Better Option" but my results speak for themselves at this point. So I'm excited to share it with other people that it can also help.

Thinking of picking up the X4. Like the idea of not having to frame during filming. Dont do a extreme sports at all. Would be getting it for filming family videos and trips. Do you think it would be good use case for it? Or should i look at a different camera?
I would caution that decision. I have actually been using the X4 for family memories recently and it is a double edged sword. You can't watch any of the videos until you reframe them. Honestly, I have transitioned to using the X4 for specific moments. I filmed 2 whole "Family Vlogs" on the X4 and the post processing just takes too much extra time. I use the Pocket 3 and the Action 4 for most of the footage and then sprinkle in the X4 for fun shots and obviously the ability to reframe.
Another comparision video idea!: You brought up an amazing point about getting similar shots to the Go3 with the X4, but that it was just a bulkier camera to fit in certain scenarios. Would you ever consider making a video that takes the X4 and crops it to the same shots as the Go3, in medium to low light scenarios? I would think comparing the sharpness between the X4 when cropped to the Go3's wide and non-wide shots would be the real deciding factor.
Sporting a Super Clean hat, I see! Hey, the freeFrame video is available at 4k30 with a significant crop. You mentioned 2.7k for FreeForm, but I am not sure if you were thinking of the frame rates above 30fps, but it will do 4k30 if you really want 4k.
@@thebetterbuy the 3S makes the native 4K filming more usable with features like the tilt fix (for mild tilt) and its a good thing because freeform is ruined... YES, it does stay 4K, even in freeform, but with a MASSIVE crop that the 3 didn't do at all (but at 1440p). to me the crop of the freeform mode makes it pretty useless and all my shooting with the 3S will just be straight 4K native where I have to pick the orientation in advance.
Good video, I have all 3 you just tested less the iphone lol. X4 suffers greatly in low light but is the leader in a 360 camera and the ability to frame post is awesome. The DJI A4 in good lighting it top notch and weird that the GO 3s is marginally better in low light with a much smaller sensor then the DJI A4. I think DJI is not using the full potential of that larger sensor tbh. I love all three of them and they have their strengths over one another. All three build the perfect gear bag.

Of course there is a bit of improvement to the X4 over the X3, but while looking at the palms in the background of your pool (I'm so jealous 😂😂) it seems the difference isn't that great and not worth the extra money. Tell me if I'm wrong, but the footage looks guite grainy, maybe due to the fact you were filming during sunset time. I don't think I'm gonna buy the X4.

Download my x4 footage and play around with processing it yourself. It will give you an idea of what to expect.

It’s a good idea, but not with the time for me. I don’t thing the camera’s are similar enough to merit the comparison. I’d pick the x4 any day.

5.7k 60 in normal sunlight is amazing to me. I’m putting up a video soon filmed in that scenario.
