  • Understand the festival and how it works. Great festival however, you should be aware of some of the things that happen at the ABR. This year, 2024, it was better and larger than 2023. I suspect 2025 will be even bigger.

    Not sure where you eat on a day to day basis, but considering it's a festival I thought the food quality was pretty good. Pricing is typical of current events for the year so no real shock. I was very pleased with the varied variety of the food stalls. I arrived around 10.30am on the Friday and the slowest part of the check-in was me filling in the disclaimer....lol. I walked straight up to the check-in desk and was away in moments. Then rode to the camping area and pitched my tent with no issues. The manufacturers I booked with had no issues on the Saturday gaining internet access to check my driving record. I suppose it's just a case of arrival time and pitch selection on the day. Oh...this was my first experience of the event ....but will be returning..

    re the food again !
    I was there in 23 and the queues were ridiculous, however this year I didnt have to at all....
    leaving the festival at 12.00 on Sunday on a bike took me 45 mins !

    Good and balanced review of the event. I went along this year and I have already booked for next year so it’s a positive from me. I think the major manufacturers just want to capture your contact details for marketing purposes. I test rode a Harley and already had a follow up email on the Sunday on the way home.

    I'm going to a MAG rally and they have a better system(although not gone yet so might be different when i get there) , they have sent a secure wristband and all the paperwork in the post so all I have to do is show my wristband so they can scan it, surely someone as big as the ABR could do the same

    An honest fair take on the festival. Will bring walkie talkies next year, saw a few people walking round with them! Exiting on the last day saw some idiot security guard trying to ditect traffic, he had no clue the correct hand signals. Even waved some bikers directly into traffic! Anyway great video! 👍 Ride safe.

    I feel this is a very negative review at best, I was probably one of the fortunate few who had a great signal l, being on the 3 network, I had no issues whatsoever, prices were realistic for this type of event but most importantly, the bar prices were very good. It's an event in a field in the middle of nowhere, get over it and enjoy just being there. It's not all about internet connectivity, enjoy getting away from technology and meeting people with one common interest, that being motorcycles.
    As for the ground being hard and not being able to tap in your tent pegs, FFS, nuff said.

      Hi Gordon, looking at one of the other responses, if you are on 3, then maybe you will have a better time regard access to the internet. However, the group that I was with which covered numerous suppliers did not have great access. However, it is worth going to the event for sure 👍

      @@bankruptpensioner Hi BP, I Always thought the ABR festival was aimed at adventure bike riders and as i ride road machines ie: BSA Legacy Gold Star, Harley Davidson Night train and my Triumph Scrambler 400x it was not therefore for me. My smart phone is using Smarty which is EE. It does sound interesting though.

    Hi Richard, bumped into you Friday morning in the shop next to the AA repair tent, agree internet is dreadful my friend talked to Allan Davies the organizer and he stated he was quoted £250,000 for the weekend which is obscene ,simply un affordable.Fantastic weekend simply the best.Oh the long delay leaving Sunday apparently caused by all the vans were being checked as a Himalayan was stolen Saturday evening no idea if this is true

    • @bankruptpensioner
      @bankruptpensioner  Месяц назад +1

      Hi Mark, great to say hello in the shop. We should have spoken for longer. Ahh, this makes sense. They are looking for an RE. I wonder if it was found. Hope so. Yes, 250k is ridiculous. Fibre must be to Radley Hall. I would wire up and access point to the main grounds using long CAT6 cabling. That would suffice and cost far less than 250k. Leave the SSID open and anyone can join. Also, have dedicated access points for the manufacturers to have access on their systems etc. One person to support the network for the long weekend. Maybe I should do that for them next year 😆

    re food prices...Ithink it depends on where you live ,I thought they were fair but I live in the South East, beer was £5.50 a pint...£2.50 cheaper than here !!

      @@iangriffiths9930 that's really interesting Ian. After the first day, we gave up on the major manufacturers due to the queue lengths and issues with tech to book the riders on. Must be my bad luck I guess 😆

    Quite misleading as there is a huge amount of security, just none searching people randomly on the way in.
    I’d class that as a positive point myself as you also complain about the speed of checking in. Security checks would drastically increase check in times.

    • @bankruptpensioner
      @bankruptpensioner  Месяц назад

      Hi Craig, I observed the 'security' as more marshalling (which is good). And yes, you are right, the less security is a good thing however, I now understand that a RE Himalayan was stolen, hence the search of the van on exit. The guys were looking for something very specific, which, sounds reasonable 👍

    Some useful info, most RUclipsrs sing its praises like it's the best thing since sliced bread so a bit of a balanced view is good. Not one for me though it's far too expensive and I would rather spend the same or less on a weekend away.
