I'm a Pride of Oklahoma alum. As someone who played in one of the best bands in the country, I gotta say the MRDs are also one of the best in the country! I enjoyed seeing them live in Fort Worth at the Bowl game, and I've been watching all the videos since! You guys absolutely rock!
Thank you so much for posting this! My daughter is first year at JMU and was playing clarinet. I couldn’t make her out very well in the video, but I did see myself, wife, and son (the back of our heads at least) a couple times in the stands, and me on the field near the end. What a wonderful fun night that was! The Dukes dominated 38 to 3! I almost felt bad for the Bisons! And so very proud of my daughter and all the other band members!
lol yeah that 4th quarter was brutal. Welcome to the club. My daughter is a sophomore trumpet. Yeah, it's difficult to pick them out in a sea of purple. But I try to record as much as I can so she can look back on it in 30 years (something I wish I could do from my band days).
Cool! The trumpets are awesome! I felt so bad for the trumpet soloist. My daughter said that was the first time she messed up. She nailed it perfect every practice, then messed up for the show. Obviously she’s really good to have gotten the solo, but I guess the nerves got to her.@@higginsdphotography5338
Game days are definitely intense for the MRD's. It's an all day thing. Practice in the morning, sectionals on the quad, Wilson Hall, Pregame, Halftime, playing in the stands, then post game. By 9:30 at night they've got to be worn out.
As an MRD Tuba, I approve of this video!

The opener has been stuck in my head all day. Can’t wait to see the band in person again some day. Keep it up! -MRD clarinet alumn, Gerrit 😊
