I was easily able to follow your instructions and I was really pleased with the results. I am very new to card making so I am delighted. Thank you so much!
Thank you so much for teaching us how to make this card. It is Beautiful and I learned a lot along the way. I made mine with the word LOVE for my husband's birthday.
Ooh love this. My hairdresser had a baby recently. I wish I had come across this video before so that I could have made a card with her son's name on it for her.
Got a ScanNCut for Christmas and made this card for my grandson's birthday! Thank you so much! You have really help me feel comfortable working with the machine.
I have made eight of these so far - every one that receives one, simply loves it. What makes it so much fun is that each name/card is totally different and made according to the individual. Thank you!
I’m so grateful to have found your channel! I’ve been watching for about a year. This was the first time I ventured out and made the project. I made a card with Merry to make a Christmas card - I’ll probably make more! It took me only 2 tries and about 4 hours! I work for an adoption attorney and make cards for newly adopted babies. It’ll be fun making cards with the babies’ names! Thank for for all you do to teach us! I have an SNCDX125 and the newest software which was surprisingly easy. I don’t understand why some of the steps were taken but I’m looking forward to learning.
I saw this tutorial a while ago and have finally made a card with my daughter in laws name on for her birthday, delighted and so grateful for your tutorials which I watch a couple of times before i make something. Big thank you
Hi. Thank you for this video, I've been afraid of canvas ever since I bought the ScanNcut machine and although I've not tried using canvas yet, I'm finding your videos very very helpful. You explain everything really clearly and I understand everything you're saying. When I finally do start using canvas I will use your step by step videos. Thank you once again for taking the time to post them, I for one truly appreciate them. Tina x
Thank you, you are welcome don't be afraid you cannot do anything wrong, just hit the undo button if something doesn't do what you expect it to. have fun
I’m new to the Scan n Cut and found your tutorial very informative and easy to follow. Took me a while to get it right but finally I managed a birthday name card for my granddaughter, Millie. I’ll now look out for your other tutorials. Thank you!
Hi, great glad you were able to follow along. Ive got lots of videos on my RUclips channel, they are all in playlist depending on what you want to know about. thank you
I have had a go at this but i don't have a "Scan & Cut" but Silhouette Cameo so some bits were different but i have got my notes and going to try & do one for a friend's birthday - thank you
Thank you so much for this tutorial - only had my scan n cut a week and was completely overwhelmed-I followed your tutorial and made my first letter card for my sons birthday 🥰
Thank you very much for this project, I have come back to it today and successfully completed 3 more cards, ironed out the problems that occurred with Canvas while producing the cards, feeling happy.
I followed you all the way with two different names AMY and LIAM , saved & sent the Scan n Cut , about to make . Thank you so much x I really enjoy your projects, I've just made the Butterfly Off the Edge card .
I have to make 16 birthday cards for the months of August and September. I think I'll use your video and try this for a few of them. All of the repetition might help me learn it better. Wonderful video! Cheers!
So glad I found your channel. Your tutorials are clear, concise and very helpful. You make using the Scan N Cut so much fun and give me inspiration to have a go.
A beautiful card, thanks for video. I’m having a problem with getting the holes to cut out after subtracting letters such as A. It seems a bit hit and miss for me.
I love your videos I've learnt so much I just wish I could afford to sign up but us poor ppl need to budget 🤣🤣 I'm just grateful I was bought my scanncut for Xmas can't stop watching your videos
Have finally got to the end, mission accomplished, changed my browser, one or two tweaks to get there, look forward to trying some more of your tutorials.
Canvas does appear to be funny about what browser you use with it. I use safari and its always been fine, until recently when Brother did an update and now mine is buggy, the ironic thing is i think they update they did was supposed to help with browser issue all they have done is made mine worse!
I was originally on Microsoft Edge, then tried Google Chrome, now on Firefox, but think there may be an issue with my mouse, won't always work on right clicking, may have to change it .
Brilliant! Thanks so much. I never intended to make cards when I bought the SNC650, but your vids are inspiring me to try. Need to purchase card stock and don’t know what kind but I’ll experiment. Fun... U hope!
Hi AL53, Just doing a bit of catching up. Very nice design and a beautiful card to welcome a new baby. I will be giving this a go to see how I can do it and maybe use it in the future. Great video as always. Fawna
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I know, it's only begin august but I've changed this card into a new years card. They are very special and beautiful. Thank you for this idea. The tutorial is easy to follow and thats why big thumbs up.

Hi! Awsome video as usual. Thank you very much for sharing your knowledge of Scan n cut canvas. I will certainly give it a try for my best friend's birthday.
Most of my videos are about canvas which is now workspace and they are all in playlist to make them easier to find. if you mean the windows download able version, i haven't as i don't have windows I'm a mac user and theres no mac option yet. It is the same program just the editing icons are in different places and a different layout.
I can understand the process ...thank you !!! What confuses me, is how do you cut it once sent to machine? There are 3 pieces and only 2 fit on a mat.....must be simple, but my broken brain just can't figure it. Love your videos ...so clear and not rushed. I can also clearly see what you click on while you explain what you're doing.
Hi I've shown how to do this in previous video and live streams, but you bring the whole file onto the screen mat, select the parts you don't want to cut and hit the trash can, cut the part thats left behind, once cut you open the file again this time delete the part you have already cut and leave the parts you want to cut next and carry on until you have finished. if several parts will fit on one mat you can load the mat with different colours of card and position your parts onto the respective colour card and cut to save time, again ive show this in lots of videos and in recent live streams
Thank you :) I will be searching for those videos just to get it set in my head. Sorry ...brain damage makes things hard to picture in my brain. Appreciate your patience with me. I think I understand...but enjoy the videos as well.
Thanks for the tutorial, I somehow managed to only weld three letters together, the others were loose. Not sure where I went wrong. Will try again. Really chuffed that I got as far as I did.
Fabulous card, great tutorial, thank you. Would this be cut on 12x12 or A4? I know you could cut on either, .but my question is really asking if A4 would make too much of a small card? Thanks.
this video is several years old, but from memory i cut in from A4, well i usually do anyway. you can make it as big as you want and cut it from what ever size card works for you. thank you
Is there anyway you can perforated lines in the card so that it will fold over better? I have already made one and I don't know if I can add lines to the pattern. Thank you!
@@applelover53 I mean if you have already made the card can you go back and edit it with the dash lines in it so it can be folded? The card above "Vienna" doesn't have the dash lines in it, does it???? I followed your instructions for a name card and now I want to put the dash lines in it so it looks neater as you crease it to fold it. Thank you!
Hi ok yes just open up your design in Canvas workspace and add the dashed line in where you want it and resave it. or just put the original design on your machine mat screen and add in a dashed line from the border section, if you have one on your model machine
Yes use the path tool within canvas to draw out your line and then from the properties box make it a cut and dashed line from the drop down box. Ive shown how to do this in several other videos, have a look in the "Canvas" playlist you should find help there. thank you
I created an inward layer like I showed for the insert, and made my inward a dashed draw line. Search dashed draw line on my channel other videos should show up ive shown how to do it in several Canvas videos. Thanks
Thank you glad you liked it, i don't use an iPad for canvas so cannot help. try doing a google search it may be that on mobile the functions for canvas just work differently.
Great tutorial, I gave it a try and I am trying to download my project in canvas and I'm getting the error S02. My project is within the cutting lines so I can't figure out why it won't download. Thank you
If that message is something outside the lines, there will be something maybe a tiny spec you will have to zoom right in and move around the page and find it. Or try opening a new blank page and then from the my projects on the left select your card and re save it under another name and see if you can download it that way
Hi, Loving your videos. Im new to brother scan n cut. I made this card and came out really nice, I want to make it again with a different text. Can I just edit the text and how or do I have to do it all over again. Thank you
applelover53 oh ok. Thank you for your help. So if I want to change the name I follow the video again. No easy way of only changing name from a previous done project.
This may be a really stupid question but I'm new to all of this and don't want to waste paper :) Do I save each layer as a different name or are you able to select which part you'll be cutting from one file?
Yes once you bring the design onto your scanncut machine, you can select the part you dont want to cut and delete it. Then cut what you want. then hit the home button on your machine bring up the file again and delete the part you just cut and cut the next part. hope that makes sense. you are not deleting it for good only deleting it from that cutting session
I have covered how to do that in other videos, but as my channel is growing and im getting new subscribers all the time i will re visit some of the techniques. I will do another video showing how but it wont be on my channel for a few weeks. thank you
@@applelover53 I did do a couple cards successfully but could not figure out how to do it in one file so I would love to see this. I wound up saving each layer in separate files... maybe it's my machine (350).
I have made the name card but when I get to the last bit where you make insert I keep getting errs06 can you help, have looked up in brother but didn’t understand what to do, can you help please
Its probably something to do with either the font or how you have welded your letters originally, sometimes things like this happen and you just have to start again.
On my scanncut I have the words like daughter and so on but I don't have the ABC CAN you tell me why love the card I have been trying to make one but can't use the letters
I made this card in SNC canvas online but as far as i am aware all machines have text built into them if you wanted to recreate this card directly on the machine.
I said in the video what font I used, if the letters disappear it’s because you have to have the inner sections on top of the main letter. I’ve showed how to do this in several videos on my channel, have a look in the fonts playlist you should find help thank you
I'm having trouble with the subtract. The centers of my "A", "P" and "M" did not work. It looks okay, but cannot figure out what I did wrong? When I ungroup, divide, hold shift & select each letter. The I selected the rectangle and placed under name to overlap. Finally, I ungroup, edit, subtract only the letters that need the centers cut out. I group name and rectangle and weld. Not working.
When you make the offset in Canvas are you making sure the box that says use only the outline is unticked, like i show in the video if not you will only get an outline of the outer shape and you will loose the definition of the letters. You have to follow the tutorial exactly as i show, it does work.
Yes, outline is unticked. When I ungroup, divide and hold shift key down when selecting letters. Should I then subtract letters that need the centers out? Originally, I grabbed the rectangle to place under the name then I did the ungroup, edit, subtract. Maybe, that makes a difference? I tried doing the card twice and it didn't work for me. The centers did not punch out. I noticed on Facebook, another member had the same issue. Not sure what video she watched. Anyway, she manually cut out the centers. I like my card. It looks okay without the centers removed. Just wondering what I'm doing wrong. Thanks for responding.
I am following your instructions, I have got to typing the name, used the same name, so I could see where I was going wrong, have got to the banding box, and reduced it, but I do not have a dotted line between each letter, only the banding box round the whole name, can you help me, thus when I get to the part where you blacked in the letters, I have some of them joined together, and when I go to separate, to put spaces back, I just loose letters completely, I also cannot right-click and divide or group, I have to go to the box at the top of the page, I was able to duplicate, using the right-click, but the middle instructions would not work, thank you.
Hi you don’t have to use the right click, you can just use the edit icon. It sounds like it could be a browser problem you have. Try another browser. If you have a word with one bounding box around it and want to be able to select each letter individually you need to select the word and choose divide.
Me again, once again got to duplicating the name and rectangle, when I try to edit and flip, the flip box is greyed out, no wonder I gave up on working in Canvas before.
The letters have to be overlapped to weld I’ve got lots of videos on my RUclips channel showing how to do this I think I even have a playlist called shaped cards which again will show you how to weld
This is one of my most favorite card, thank you for teaching me, all of us how to create the beautiful card.

What font are you using???When I select subtract the letter disappears??? Can you help me??? I can only download CanvasWorkspace
What font are you using, is it one of the fonts in Canvas
When you make the offset in Canvas are you making sure the box that says use only the outline is unticked, like i show in the video if not you will only get an outline of the outer shape and you will loose the definition of the letters. You have to follow the tutorial exactly as i show, it does work.
Using bold font from Canvas
Yes you have to follow the tutorial in the order I do it for it to work
I am following your instructions, I have got to typing the name, used the same name, so I could see where I was going wrong, have got to the banding box, and reduced it, but I do not have a dotted line between each letter, only the banding box round the whole name, can you help me, thus when I get to the part where you blacked in the letters, I have some of them joined together, and when I go to separate, to put spaces back, I just loose letters completely, I also cannot right-click and divide or group, I have to go to the box at the top of the page, I was able to duplicate, using the right-click, but the middle instructions would not work, thank you.
I think Canvas has some glitch problems. I hope they get fixed soon if that is the case. So frustrating!!!!
For the life of me I can not get the letters to weld together. They stay as individual letters. What am I doing wrong????
The letters have to be overlapped to weld I’ve got lots of videos on my RUclips channel showing how to do this I think I even have a playlist called shaped cards which again will show you how to weld
Bonjour
