  • In this part 1 testing and review video, I discuss this new and exciting 5.8ghz video transmitter that pretty much ticks all of the boxes in terms of performance, features, size and price. I discuss this VTX's physical and technical specifications, how to set up it's smart audio feature inside of Betaflight, and I test it's temperature output on it's 4 different power settings.
    Here is a link to more information on this product, along with where to purchase it from one of the best companies in this industry:

    You've become one of my fav reviewers. Clear, concise and to the point. Keep up the great work. Cant wait for the RF meter tests. I bought the matek vtx just before this came out and would love to see how they stack up against each other.👀👍

      Splinter Fpv - I appreciate the kind words and support buddy, I'm hoping to have that vtx shootout video available by next week sometime, but this new Mach 2 VTX does have the Matek beat in features, as it has pitmode, a microphone and can transmit at 800mw for the same price.

      SteelRainFPV when the mach 2 came out i was bummed. I had literally got the matek in the mail from RDQ and the next day i saw the email anouncing the mach 2 release. Doh....

      Splinter Fpv - Yeah it always happens like that in this hobby, but I think that you're safe with your purchase since AKK, the company that manufacturers this vtx for RaceDayQuads, has implemented the smart audio function improperly on this and the AKK branded variant, so as of now smart audio will not work correctly with the new and unreleased Betaflight 3.3 firmware. This is all relatively new news and the Betaflight firmware isn't due for release at the soonest January 2018, but AKK and RaceDayQuads are working on a solution as we speak.

      SteelRainFPV I heard that about the 3.3 issues. Well that bites for mach 2 users. Im sure they will handle it....I have learned, usually after i make a purchase something better always comes along.... I try not to buy till v2 lol. Sometimes you just cant resist. This is definately a very fast evolving hobby. Cant wait to see where we end up.

    Gr8 review! I'm not sure if you have heard but the smart audio function is limited time only for this vtx!! Supposedly RDQ reverse engineered the smart audio! As of now betaflight has a bug and when they fix the bug, smart audio for this vtx won't work anymore!!

      J.FINESSE FLIGHTS - I'm not too worried about it at this point since the newest Betaflight firmware is pretty far off from release, and the fact that Tyler Brennan from RaceDayQuads and AKK representatives has verified that there's a fix in the works, or the vtx's will be replaced for working versions, which has been verified by Joshua Bardwell personally.

    I have the Mach 2 and the Cl racing f4s also, Did you run everything through the board? Like so: vtx + & - connected to the vtx pads on the FC board, video from vtx to video FC pad and audio to tx4 FC pad, then connect the camera to the camera pads on the other side of the FC board. By the way is the out put voltage on the vtx pad on the FC 9volt filtered by default?

      ToddTube - Sorry I forgot to add the testing parameters to this video, but I always power and test these vtx's from the full charged power of the main battery voltage and power leads of a 4s lipo battery, with the camera's osd running through the board, and the fpv camera powered from the vtx.... The filtered output is indeed 9 volts, but I've found that I get much worse video interference when I power my vtx's and camera's from the flight control boards themselves.

      Ok, that's how I originally planned to wire it, vtx powered on battery leads, smart audio= tx4, vtx video=vtx video pad on FC. Camera power to vtx 5v and ground, cam video= cam pad on FC for OSD or I might just use the Runcam OSD and make it clean, It's a freestyle and I only need voltage anyway.

      ToddTube - Personally I'd power your fpv camera from the filtered vtx power option, since I've had video resolution problems in the past, but everything else looks good to go 👍

    Good video bud, but I am running one on the Matek F405 FC with the seperate PDB, I have it soldered to my TX4 uart and have selected SmartAudio but does not want to work. To be fair my Smart Port from my receiver is not working as well, any idea what might be happening?

    • @steelrainfpv3383
      @steelrainfpv3383  6 лет назад

      LOOPS - Thanks for the support. Without seeing your setup personally it's really hard to say, but maybe try to solder the smart audio wire to a different tx uart, or change the smart audio uart selection in Betaflight to another to see if it works. Please let me know if any of those suggestions work for your problem, if not I'll try to find an answer for you.

      SteelRainFPV I have the Mach 2 as well and have it soldered to the TX three pad on my Maytag F405 0SD board attempted to set it up in beta flight to UART three and it does not seem to operate through my beta flight OSD or my taranis qx7 Using Lua Scripts beta flight

      Patrick Hermey - Sorry I didn't get back to you in time but yes, any open tx uart should work with smart audio.
