It never ceases to amaze me how Eva could take any song and effortlessly make it her own. Such a tragic loss of life and talent. She changed the world for the better then left it far too soon. I can't help feeling a little twinge of sadness whenever I listen to her music. It's such a shame she never lived to enjoy the success and recognition her golden voice so deserved. There will never be another Eva Cassidy. She was truly unique.
She was discovered in London.Unfortunately she passed away stricken with melanoma(skin cancer). I was in North Dakota in 2001,a primary care physician alone so ebbed down when I heard her sing Fields of Gold.I searched for her story, accumulated all her cds I could get enough. Somehow Eva transcended everything .She makes every cells in my body jumped for joy and yet I feel like Eva is still with us. what a treasure to the world. Thanks Eva.
Her legacy will always be sewn into the Tapestry of my life. I am so grateful for the time she graced her sweet presence upon this earth. Rest Easy Darling One.

Some years ago I was attending an event that was just not going well. Taking a walk to get away for a bit...I heard this amazingly beautiful voice that stopped me and brought me in. It was Eva and I bought this very CD Album shown above and have LOVED it forever.

Paul G Eva takes it a step further. The way she interprets a song is on another creative level. She's able to maintain the essence of the song while totally making it her own. The decisions she makes in changing melody and timing are so tasteful and not over done. She was a very, very special talent.
Was a fan of Karen Carpenter but I felt there was a certain similarities in her songs .However Eva Cassidy had the ability to adapt her voice to particular songs .This is beautiful and she is the instrument. Karen Carpenter's version of "A Song For You" was a classic.

In both cases, as much as I respected and loved Adam and Usher, their efforts in these attempts didn't even come close to the originals, imo. I felt these were two perfect examples of two iconic songs that, regardless of the immense talent of the artists trying to cover them, simply could not be satisfactorily covered by ANYONE. They were songs that were utterly Prince and Marvin. Well said Kelhawk1, I'm not sure how I stumbled upon Eva but when I heard her voice it stopped me in my tracks! I let out a loud yelp and an expletive that I won't repeat here. Eva touches me so I find myself crying when I hear some of her music it's not the song but simply, it's just Eva.

Well said Kelhawk1, I'm not sure how I stumbled upon Eva but when I heard her voice it stopped me in my tracks! I let out a loud yelp and an expletive that I won't repeat here. Eva touches me so I find myself crying when I hear some of her music it's not the song but simply, it's just Eva.
