The cemetery was breathtaking. I could walk that peaceful road along the little creek , shaded by those gorgeous trees. What a tranquil time for contemplation. The water flowing over the rocks, the bridge ... perfection.
It truly is like a Park. There's also Rockefeller State Park close by , just under 1800 acres. I never made it there but I Daughter said it's beautiful.
Thank you for the tour Carla. My husband and I have been there several times (it is only about an hour and half from our home here in Pennsylvania), and it makes for a lovely long weekend getaway. It is so busy in the fall around Halloween but so beautiful with the fall foliage. Congratulations on the graduation of your daughter and I hope you had a lovely Mothers Day.....
Thank you so much for this video, I love all the history behind Sleepy Hollow and will have to come visit myself oneday. You are one of my favourites on youtube and always look forward to your videos, thanks again, Sheila
Beautiful! Here in Richmond Virginia we have Hollywood Cemetery. It looks a good bit like the Sleepy Hollow one. Ours is filled with beautiful plantings and trees. Very park like too. We have several Presidents buried here too. Interesting architecture with the mausoleums.
Congratulations Carla and to your daughter on her graduation, well done. Happy Mothers day 🌷🌷🌻🌹🌹and thank you for sharing this enjoyable video, just beautiful. The orange infused gin 🥂 looked very inviting, cheers 🥂🌹☮
Congratulations on your daughter's graduation, proud mama moments for sure! My son graduated 2yrs ago, I still can't believe it! now my daughter is graduating high school this week. But that's what it's all about watching them grow and learning to let go. I told my youngest daughter she's not allowed to grow up cuz she's my baby girl. Lol. The orange infused gin looks so good. I will have to try it this way. When my husband and I go out for date night we always order a gin and tonic unless I'm in wine mode. I'm rambling. Hope you had a Lovely Mother's Day!
Thank you Doris. I couldn't agree with you more about how HARD it is in letting go. This is my Baby graduating....I can't believe it. I was the Mom that always cried the first day of School.... Each Year! lol. Congratulations to you too on your Daughter graduating, these past few years have been tough on kids. Have a beautiful week Doris.
Oh Carla! What a great way to end the day to see this awesome video! I was born and raised in the Hudson Valley about 60 miles north of NYC on the West Bank of the Hudson!! I love the beauty of the area, but I’m partial of course! I kind of cringed when you walked into the Hudson because back in the day when I was in my teens, the Hudson was a bit dirty! That’s changed I’m sure! Lol A big congratulations to your daughter on her graduation! I know you must be proud!! Thank you for sharing!! Love the history and beauty of my home state….just not the cost of living!! Lol
Yes Jean, I agree, there were people swimming in the area I was, but I just walked in just above my ankles.....not sure I would swim there. Such a pretty area, I never would have guessed. We definitely had a little bit of a sticker shock when looking for a place for our Daughter to live. lol. She made it and is on her way home, ready to start her Career (has already acceptance a job offer) in Speech Pathology. Have a beautiful week Jean!
As always, I appreciate your beautiful videos of town in the northeast. I have traveled above Boston and so enjoy the towns and areas near where you live. Have you given a town of your town? Thank you for sharing.
What a beautiful area! I never realized it was so close to NYC! The cemetery is amazing! You might like knowing there is a RUclips channel of a young 30 something couple that live right next to a cemetery in Sleepy Hollow. I believe they are in the other cemetery there in that town; anyhow name is It's a Charming Life.
Lovely tour of Sleepy Hollow! My wife and I will be visiting there in a couple of weeks for the first time. We're excited to to explore the town and see some historic sites. Can you tell me the name of the beach where you walked into the Hudson River? Also, any nice places to eat in Sleepy Hollow? Thanks!
The Park/Beach was a Private Beach our friend took us to and I don’t recall the name. We really didn’t go out to eat other than Coffee Shops because our Daughter was just going to College in that area. We did enjoy Tarrytown and Irvington. There were what looked to be like nice Restaurants down by the river in Irvington. I have also heard that Rockefeller State Park is beautiful too. Enjoy! 😊
When I lived there, the only beach I know of for swimming is Kingsland Point Park. Not too far from the Old Dutch Church and Philipsburg Manor. The site in the video looks like it could be Kingsland Point or very close to it.
@blackhills84 there's a Greek restaurant right on Broadway in Tarrytown, Lefteris Gyro, on the corner of Main Street. Yes that's the same Broadway that runs through Manhattan.
Just caught up with your video Carla, what a lovely place Sleepy Hollow is, do you know why it’s called by that name?… The gin cocktail recipe looks good, I’m going to try it, hope I can wait the six week gap! Best wishes, & thank you for taking us on another great journey.😊
Per my research, In 1655 a Dutch colonist first published a work which referred to the Pocantico River as" Slapershaven" or literally "Sleepers Haven". Sleepy Hollow appears to be a later, Anglicized version of this name. Thanks for watching Jean!
The village was called North Tarrytown up until recently, because it was north of Tarrytown. My understanding of the renaming was because of the cemetery, the Old Dutch Church, and the famous story.
Great video! However, us locals still call it the Tappan Zee Bridge. It doesn't matter your politics. The whole Hudson Valley is very beautiful, from the city on up!
My brother has an old house in Sleepy Hollow and the real estate taxes are very expensive he pays around $20,000 a year. President Clinton and Hillary clinton live there and the Rockefeller estate.
The Clintons live in Chappaqua, not Sleepy Hollow. By the way, the very impressive Rockefeller estate is called Kykuit. I worked there in the summers during my college years. It was a good job for a local boy to have.

I just love old cemetaries. They are so peaceful and serene. Thanks for sharing. I'LL bet this one has many tales to tell! Beautiful homes as well.
Yes, this one us like a Park. 😊
Carla, it was such a beautiful trip thru sleepy hollow cemetery . Your site is delightful! Thank you
How fun & enjoyable! Thank you for a lovely tour.
Happy Mother’s Day Carla, thank you for taking us along

Thank you for your videos. I really enjoy them
Thanks so much for taking the time to film this! This really helps me familiarize myself with the town before I come visit.
You are very welcome! 😊

Such a beautiful place to visit.
Thank you for sharing your beautiful trip and your gin recipe!
Lovely video. The cemetery reminds me of Hollywood Cemetery here in Va.

Yes, I just discovered them recently. You would never know they are in Tarrytown/Sleepy Hollow....I thought Europe. lol. Fun channel
Thank you

You may have confused it with Massachusetts because we have a cemetery in Concord, MA called Sleepy Hollow.
Great video! However, us locals still call it the Tappan Zee Bridge. It doesn't matter your politics. The whole Hudson Valley is very beautiful, from the city on up!
Head it’s nice their

Oh my! I believe it, especially being so close to NYC. I didn’t know the Clintons have a house there.
My mom used to always say property taxes were very high and that was back in the 70’s and 80’s. I’m sure the Clintons can afford it!😆
@@jeanzaebst8605 LOL....true!

@remaguire It is in that area of Westchester NY
Sleep Hollow sucks. its totally ghetto and not the charming historic village i was hoping to experience .
I was expecting it to be different too; however, I really enjoyed seeing the cemetery.
