I’m a musician at church and I withhold because I feel like I look ridiculous. I’m 6’2 and feel like I would look like donkey Kong but inside I’m yearning to praise god. It’s time to stop withholding. God deserves our praise even if we look ridiculous to others.

I think you should take your focus off of self and others and return it exclusively to Jesus because He EXCLUSIVELY died for you. I can’t think of a single time I went to church and looked at the worship leaders or musicians and thought, “Wow, that lanky guy sure looks like Donkey Kong!” I HAVE however, encountered God in powerful ways when we have corporately surrendered all and worshiped God in SPIRIT and TRUTH and were 100% authentic, whatever that looked like to each of us. People probably don’t even pay as much attention to you, let alone negative and maliciously. God Bless.
You may be that leader. There may be someone else there who feels the same way you do and watching you worship may encourage that person to worship too. I don't like getting to church late. I love singing and worshiping it gets me prepared to hear the word it fills my soul
The enemy wants us to hold back because when we worship in spirit and in truth the captives will be set free and receive deliverance. Praying God helps you to have freedom in worship.

Worship God because He is God... He is altogether WORTHY! Worship brings blessing indeed but that shouldn't be our motivation when we come to worship Him. Everything we have is from Him. It's just right to give all glory to our Holy God.
I worship Jesus because he died for me and not just because he died for me but he died instead of me he saved me hundreds of times and my family he's fed us and he's clothed us and put a roof over are head and no matter what I've done his love for me is never changed and it never will👑✝️❤️🐑
Worship always brings blessing...it occurs. It doesn't have to mean blessing-to-us, that's a narrow interpretation of what he's saying. Blessings to the Lord, blessings to those hearing it, blessings to the atmosphere, a fragrance affecting hearts who enter later, blessings to the teaching of the Word...
Just came across this video this morning. Oh how I needed this. I haven’t given God my all. I haven’t sacrificed and worshipped and obeyed 100%. Praise the Lord!🙌🏻
Excellent message. I remember when Josh Hamilton, on an "I Am Second" ad, said "Do with me what you want, but I surrender".... Sounded so powerful. ....not that he actually surrendered, (I think we know how that turned out 😬) But hey, It sounded good.

I love Brandon Lake and what he does for modern worship music and the Kingdom. But I have to disagree his point. “I worship because worship brings blessing” Expecting a blessing in return for your worship is not actually worship at all. It’s an attempted purchase where you hope God will come through on His end of the deal. I’ve lived in a transactional relationship with the Lord for a long time, and I’m finally learning that His blessing DO NOT come because of my efforts or even my sacrifice in worship. They come ONLY because God is good and gives good gifts to his children. Also, I worship God because he is worthy of my whole life even if I get nothing in return.
I disagree dear brother Daniel. Worship does bring blessing. The Lord inhabits the praises of His people. And when God shows up, He doesn’t show up for nothing. ‘Blessing’ does not have to be a carnal thing. You should be blessed every time you are in the Lord’s presence. And He knows how to bestow blessings on His children. Always be expectant in the Lord’s presence, to receive what He has for you.
@marie utsler Yes He is. He wants to bless every area of our lives, our spiritual growth, our physical being and existence. God is not limited, and neither is His presence in worship.

We live for the audience of one (Jesus) so even if many can see whatever you think you look like when worshiping all that matters is what Christ sees
