Absolutely this is for sellers. I resell DVDs. I am keeping a large collection of scratched disks so I can offset the price straight away, when I finally buy it.
Some old games can get expensive, like 40-90$ for an og xbox game, this is nice to have because I’ve gotten so much games off ebay that come in scratched and wont work properly while claiming good condition
@@redfairmont I am currently repairing one of these for a library and they said, that it was quite useful. They also explained to me how it worked. Apparently the machine does not actually grind down the CD so there are no more scratches, instead it removes the little bit of material, that bulges up, when the CD is scratched. CD players always read a little ahead of what they are actually playing to remove errors (I assume through software) so the actual scratch is not the problem, but what is a problem is that little bulge of material that apparently lets the player not read the CD properly. But these clog up easily, so if you don`t plan on using it regularly that might be an issue.
I agree. That blows my mind. Why would anyone want to rent cleaning solution? It's like buying a printer and having to have a key in order for it to print with the official ink.
It costs .055 cents to refurb a disc. It’s definitely worth it if you’re running a high volume business. If you’re a hobby reseller then this is a stupid purchase
I have had the JFJ Easy Pro for about 4-5 years. It works great for CDs and DVDs. But it physically ruined the first and only Blu Ray I put in it. It burned through the thinner layers on the Blu Ray, making the disc un repairable. So this looks nice for Blu Rays. But I can not stomach the time cards. I refuse to work with companies who basically lock their products like that. Jon Deer got sued and just lost their case against farmers for locking them into only using JD parts and repair shops. They now have to allow repair at independent shops. Apple also lost their suit. And have to allow repair to their products. This company is basically running a monopoly on these disc repair machines. If I had the extra money, I would sue them to force them to remove the keys, just to open it up to free market. Because these proprietary keys are total and utter bullshit….
Excellent machine from a brilliant Japanese company. I went from JFJ to these and now I have three of them. The hinges go after a while but that's a cheap easy fix. I bought a stack of extra pads and I put them in my washing machine and then let them air dry. If you deal in a lot of CDs or DVDs I would urge you to invest in one of these!
I use the washing machine too... saves a lot of time especially when i am putting between 100-200 in at a time. I have several aswell. Great machine. I recognise your name... You a aussie seller bro?
I am currently trying to repair one of these for a library and although they are really useful, they clog up very easily. The particular machine I am working on had not been used for a little and not been properly "shut down" (e.g. closing the nozzles etc.) which led to a clog in the lid. Admittedly the machine is easy to take apart, but it was still a rather annoying process to get to the hoses. However that led to another problem. The machine kept pumping the solution which then ended up inside the machine, which led to the rubber wheel of the solution pump slipping which in turn led to the machine not pumping any solution.
Great video. Thank you. I guess I'm just confused about why someone would pay so much money to only clean 400 discs, in your cost estimation. I mean I'm buying it to resell CDs and DVDs for the foreseeable future as a business so a bit confused about that. I sourced 100 DVDs just today so i would imagine i could potentially use this minimum 500-700 times per week. So I guess in my case its worth it.
I've put several hundred discs through a JFJ Easy Pro ($200 machine, $15 pads, $15 liquid polish), what I notice immediately is THIS machine is nearly silent. The JFJ also thermal throttles after a dozen discs or so and you have to wait for it to cool down.
It’s worth every fucking penny if you do a lot of discs! Have an eco pro 2 and two autosmarts bought all refurbished and have done probably at least 1000+ discs between all 3. I’ve gone thru 3 keycards on the eco pro. Lol Otherwise if you do less than like 50 discs a month, maybe a pay per disc at a store would be better.
This is why Blu Ray discs are so nice they don’t scratch I’ve had many Blu Ray disc years later still look great but some my DVDs and CDs all developed scratches somehow and I handle everything with care but still happens

Also after the initial cost of the machine and if you just buy the solution at 800 minutes and use it at 2 minutes means you can do 400 discs for $98.95 which means it should be .24 cents from the initial cost.
yes, all numbers include the initial cost of the machine. I agree, if you negate the initial cost of the machine, then obviously the math looks much prettier. But where are you getting the free machine from?
JFJ easy pro, honestly it comes with a pad you put sandpaper on(buffing black pad) use it without the sandpaper 10/20 sec option and there is not swirls or left over ring scratches and makes it look brand new. Little secret I learned myself.
Yes, the scratches return, because that's how scratches get onto discs, they grow on the disc over time naturally. It's a myth that scratches occur due to poor handling, they are naturally occuring dendritic growths that are inevitable, and unstoppable.

He is talking about cost of ownership. He is factoring in ALL cost of equipment plus 2minutes usage per disc at a rate of 800 minutes per $100.
