The Mercury flag is actually pretty good! The planet is tidally locked, which means there’s one side always facing the sun and one always facing away from it, so the flag having a darker side and a paler one makes sense 😃

The Canadian flag is actually base on the location of Canada, the red on each side represents the pacific and Atlantic oceans and the white and maple leaf represent the provinces and territories of Canada
Clearly the leaf is marijuana, otherwise it cannot be explained why they see the oceans as red.

Fun fact: a majority of those flags among regions in western Europe originally made an extensive use of Prussian blue pigment, first synthesized from iron-cyanide compounds, in Germany. Prussian blue came from an obsession to try to replicate the incredibly expensive blue pigment made from lapis lazuli, as well as the recipe for Egyptian blue (a pigment whose recipe was lost to time, until recently.)
Prussian blue became popular because it was relatively easy to make, and its fame spread across the globe from flags in western Europe, all the way to Japanese woodblock artwork (the famous Great Wave woodblock uses loads of Prussian blue.)
