Welcome to the Jinjer Army! Definitely check out Perennial live at Wacken 2019 next. Also Teacher Teacher official music video and Judgement and Punishment One Take Vocal Performance
Yes, Ukraine, Donetsk in the eastern part. Part of the territory annexed by Russia in 2014. This is a redone version of an older song, done to showcase Vlad on drums, who had joined not long before this. He is classically trained on piano, self taught on drums. He , Roman (guitar) and Eugene (bass) are all outstanding musicians. According to their website, they were formed in 2009, but consider 2010 as the start (wiki says 2008/09)when Tatiana and Roman came in, Eugene joined a year after them. No original members remain. Used to be a 5 piece until 2015 when last original member , rhythm guitarist Dmitriy Oksen, left to pursue acting and wasn't replaced. Metalcore is only part of it, they are also prog, djent, groove metal , with switch ups to jazzy and sometimes Reggae. 4 albums and a few EP's. 2 songs from album #5 are out (Someone's Daughter and Rogue), record is supposed to be out early next year. The video went viral, obviously, because of Tataiana, she is mostly self taught. 2 of her biggest harsh vocal influences are Otep and Randy Blythe (Lamb of God), for cleans she is a big Gwen Stefani fan. Next step is usually to see them live, with either Perennial at Wacken 2019 or Pit of Consciousness live in Kiev. "Home Back", "Vortex" , "Teacher Teacher", "Judgement(And Punishment)" and the new songs are more to try.
Welcome to the Jinjer rabbit hole it's about as deep as The Warning's. She is about the best front person for a band that I've ever seen (she does have some stiff competition from Dani, but being free of the fixed mic gives her the edge slightly). For your next stop on your journey I would suggest Perennial live from Wacken 2019, where you will get to see what I mean about her stage presence. Ps: it's quiet refreshing to see someone reacting to Pisces without losing their shit as soon as the growl kicked in.
@Skywolf370 I will add Perreniel live to my list to do next for them! I do my best to try and be as natural as possible, I was shocked but I wanted to listen more than I wanted to "loose my shit" in that moment if that makes sense. Always appreciate you! 🤘🧸
Although it is always heartwarming to see someone try to nod in 7/4 time 😉 (Or 3/4 with an extra beat every other bar, depending upon which way you look at it...)
If I was stranded on an island and hand only a handful of songs to listen to for the rest of my life, one would be "Pit of Consciousness" live in Kiev. Amazing vocalist. I also love Cloud Factory, I Speak Astronomy, Vortex, Perrenial, so many more.
The reason I suggested Pisces is because it has such a dichotomy. The stark differences between the parts of the song, drive home the shock value of the introduction to Tatiana. Almost all of their songs have clean and harsh vocals, but this is easily the closest thing they have to a ballad. If you really want to see how good and eclectic they can be you should check out "Teacher Teacher" Official music video. They play incredibly complex time signatures, and a lot of syncopation, so it's difficult to even identify the count. And you can hear the range in Tati's delivery, as this has a little more of a rapping feel to it. IMO the gold standard of Jinjer songs.
@saltydroog854 you really do paint a amazing picture when it comes to this Band. Like a poet. Your comment entranced me a bit 🤣 🤣 always appreciate you! 🤘🧸
Tatiana's pretty damned amazing isn't she? Jinjer's full of stellar musicans, and has got some amazing work in their catalog; you're gonna have fun exploring this band, I think :)
I think some of my favorite comments have come from this video. Alot of people excited that I "didnt" go all crazy when she went to the harsh vocals. I was like this isn't my first rodeo 🤣🤘🧸
I hope this is just the beginning of getting to know the phenomenal group Jinjer, everyone starts with Fish, and then dives headlong into increasingly heavier melodies like "Outlander", "Teacher, Teacher", "Cloud Factory", "Pit of Consciousness", etc.
Aww....great reaction! Jinjer always gives me the feels; happiness, sadness, anger & energy... Tati's voice range is phenomenal! The whole band is full packed with talent. Hard to pick a favourite! But I say: Home back offical video, for sure. It's about war & conflict from the area of Ukraine they're from. But their catalogue is huge. Enjoy! Saludos 💚✌️
Everyone is saying that you need to go to their live performances to really understand them, but I think that as you are new to them I would recommend more of their videos first: I would recommend "I Speak Astronomy" (official video) and "Judgement and Punishment" (one-take vocal performance.)
@@JohnnyFoxtrotshow Well, yes, they're right -- but you have only seen one video, and one which is misleading because it is highly atypical. That's why I recommended the ones I did.
Their drummer Vlad has some really good drum playthroughs of their songs. One of the best is for their song Mediator. Perennial Live at Wacken Open Air is a good next one, Pit of Consciousness Live in Kyiv, Judgement and Punishment One Take Vocal, Sit Stay Roll Over Live in Melbourne are all good. You really can't go wrong with any of their official videos and even some unofficial ones. They have two recent new videos and a video they did with Audiotree called Jinjer from Nothing which is also a great watch. There are well over 30 videos from them on RUclips.
I feel like Tatiana's outfit is also a subtle ANH homage with the tall boots and black and white clothing. The folks who have done a lot of their videos frequently insert nods to scifi films. Perennial live at Wacken is a great followup. Though a double feature with the omv first is a great option too. Really can't go wrong though. They've also dropped the first to songs from the new album out early next year.
