- Sonicake had sent this over to explore the Sonicake Matribox, a budget-friendly multi-effects unit for metal guitarists. I'll show you how to create a preset of rhythm tones and lead sounds using its wide range of amp models and effects.
Plus, I'll reveal a neat trick for seamlessly switching between your rhythm and lead presets during performances.

Great sound and great playing, im a drummer but i will get this for Christmas...
great video and great piece of kit well done bro
Could you kindly let us know the signal chain you used for this test? Just bought the unit one week ago :) great video!
Hey man I didn't move any of the effects around in the unit. Its basically the guitar to the Sonicake Matribox and going straight into a Focusrite Solo interface. This would also work if i was playing straight to the PA.
I just got this unit and I can't replicate the sound using this setup. Anything else in the chain? I'm just listening monitored through OBS right now, but your sound is deeper and heavier. I have a Les Paul Epiphone stock guitar if that helps.
Can you describe the tone you are getting? I have the unit plugged straight into a Focusrite interface with no external IR's.
The notes sound similar but it’s not deep heavy. Using the same settings. Maybe it’s my guitar. Using a Les Paul epiphone. I’m kind of new so I’m just playing around with different music but I love rock and metal. The guitar sounds amazing on clean tone and some other presets but I want the chug deeper for like pantera, Metallica, etc.
@@sirdeadknight ah ok it could maybe be the pickups in your guitar. All types affect the tone because of different varients. Some pickups can be bright and some others dark. If you want the sound to be more bottom end, consider adding more bass in the eq to your preferred taste.
@@DerrylVi thank you. Will try and tweak more but it could be pick ups. Any recommendation’s?
@@ashphotography Adjust the sound to match your pickups and save the preset. For higher-output pickups, tweak the gain to your preference using the preset you created and then save it under a different name like the guitar you're using for example. This the what I like about multi-effect units cause you can save what you made, whereas as an amp, you'd need to adjust the settings every time for a different guitar. I hope this helps you in some way. Good luck!
