BTW GM Financial is HQ'd in Fort Worth (Burnett Plaza), and its largest customer centers are in Arlington. Smaller centers for collections and customer service are in Chanlder AZ and even smaller center San Antonio . I've worked for them for 10 years here in the DFW.

San Antonio is not the smallest of the 4 Texas Metros. It’s actually slightly larger than Austin, although I don’t think that will be the case much longer

Man you captured all 4 cities to a tee. I live in Houston and have become less of a fan living here the older I’ve gotten compared to when I was younger. I think the city of Houston( inner loop) offers the best living experience for all demographics if your a single Millennial or Gen Z. Austin offers the best lifestyle if you’re more liberal, vegan, tech Bro, outdoorsy alternative lifestyle type of person. DFW as a metro though imo is the best bet if you’re career driven or family centered. That’s why as a Family man now I lean more towards DFW than Houston in this stage in my life.

Houston and Metroplex is wrong. Only Dallas does that with Fort worth. Austin and San Antonio aren't Metroplexes either because no other city in their space has come close to them in being so much their own and near their city level. Dallas ain't no capital of Texas: Only two cities have been the state capitol in Texas and that was first, Houston and later, Austin. But, I know what you mean, but it's wrong in that aspect, too. And for the most Texan of old, I don't give that to San Antonio. If any spot, I may give that to Dallas because of the Western and cowboy base more that they were(educated guess) and still carry swagger. Last, Houston is by far most individually rich of Texas cities with nearly 100k millionaires and more billionaires than Dallas. So, you do lean more into your bias.
Tornados are very rare and dont happen often but the do happen every now and then. Id say down south would be less tornados but then you have to deal with flooding in houston. San Antonio may be a good option for you
San Antonio if you want eventless weather with no natural disasters. Nowhere in the USA or Americas has the weather of San Antonio. It has the shortest 50-degree-weather season in the country (january to march) without being hurricane ridden Florida. Which is why the area is exploding in droves. Mainly into the hills and northeast direction. Biden’s infrastructure bill obviously is taking advantage of the unique, easy-to-build-on terrain. That isn’t 2 feet above sea level, at risk of earthquakes, or in an area bludgeoned by humid and deadly tornadoes. The dark truth about Houston and Dallas is that each have some WEATHER EVENT. Tornadoes, hurricanes, dry 107 degree heat, floods, bitterly dry and long lasting winters. One sits barely above sea level and another is in tornado alley. These are demoralizing realities that make driving unfeasible and wreck people’s plans. Then there’s the issue that their geography is flat, so hiking is a bore, and doesnt have the thrill of hills that you get in a north san antonio neighborhood. San Antonio doesnt have the wildfire-earthquake geo of california, nor the mountainous desert hills, nor the gloomy dry weather. The hills are just the right shaped and the city is misty except for Southwest which is the dry sunny part of town. I’ve always thought of it to be the hybrid of California and Florida. It also has different weather around the city like Los Angeles without being in a desert. (Avoid the taco-loving parts of town, like the inner city.) San Antonio has as many non-local license plates as California. Austin is okay too but it was built plain wrong. You need a car just as much as you do in San Antonio yet it’s tiny there. It’s also much hotter than San Antonio. Austin can be a bit like California where it’s either fun by yourself or with the right companion, but if things go south, you’d rather be in alpha cities LA or San Antonio; not dysfunctional college towns austin san diego or san francisco.

There's no city vs city competition. The only difference between Dallas and Houston is that Dallas has much of that Midwestern/Oklahoma influence while Houston has a more Southern but much of a Louisiana influence. Both cities distinguish themselves from one another based on their cultures their vibes and their regional cuisines.
Dallas has zero OKLA influence. Not at all. I used to go back and forth between OKC so I know this. Midwestern? Yes. Dallas could easily be a city in the Midwest.

I’m Mexican and visited Austin and it feels like such a welcoming city!, I’m sure that if you change your mentality and be positive and optimistic they will like you just as they like me. We Mexicans and blacks are targets of racism, but I think that if we keep optimistic and happy, we will transmit that to other people and they will like us more. Stay in Austin and invite me 👍🏽
