I asked the comptroller and the proper tax exemption is off the assessment, not the property tax itself. This only saves you pennies on the dollars. They need to change the rule and have it against the property tax itself, not the assessment. It could be prorated so that if you are 10% rated, you get 10% off the property tax, not the assessment.

I didn't move to Texas, because I can't afford their property tax, since I basically survive on Social Security. Illinois is worse, due to a pile of other taxes as well as on property.

Texas is a shit hole. Lived in east Texas my whole life. Hot, buggy, dirty water, trash everywhere, over populated, rivers are nasty, roads are awefull, bad weather and natural disasters are unrivaled,drugs everywhere, the state is over flowing with cheaper labor from third world country illegals who work for less so wages stay low, wake up sweating, and the cowboy persona is fake as hell. Sure there a few way out in west Texas but Texas is just not really a cowboy state just a bunch of braggers who live in tight built subdivisions who think they’re cowboys because they wash their truck in a bathing suit and cowboy on a city street. I told my wife these people are like a virus they only interested in sucking the life out of everything and then moving on to the next host. I remember when most of Collin and Rockwell countries where very safe, you could leave your windows down money on the front seat go into the mall for hours in Frisco and come out and everything still in place. Now we have a lot of low quality people in the DFW who reguse to take accountability and to adopt to the Texas life style. I never thought I would see row homes and homes eith no yards until these people started moving here around 2006.

While yes it's a pretty home but there are some definite misses in my book. 1) "J" swing driveway. I hated this on my former house in Texas. Reason being, if you drive a pickup truck like my family does (and there are a ton of people that do in Texas), then making that swing is quite challenging. 2) Staying with the garage, if I could afford the price point for this home, then the garage door mechanisms need to be the higher end wall mounted kind with the door locking mechanisms, and not the standard variety found on lower end homes that I could get at any home improvement store. 3) Bathroom door to external patio had full glass? Nah, that doesn't work for me at all. 4) No privacy fence. Too many nosy busy body HOA people with time on their hands to not make it clear that I'd demand privacy in my backyard. 4) For me, too many windows in the office area. I have two dogs and it would be nose prints galore on them. Also don't like that many windows facing the street in my office. 5) All of that shower grout to keep clean..ugh. Now granted, if you could afford this house, you probably have a whole cooking cleaning staff that would make this whole thing worthwhile, but for the normal homeowner, this one looks to be a lot of work just to maintain.

when I retired from military me and my wife decided to stay here it's about same distance from my family in California and hers in ohio but we love it yes summer is brutal but still better than California or Ohio

Obesity wasn’t a problem when I was a kid 50 years ago. I’m not sure if this is true but I had a friends dad tell us when we was kids with all these people moving in from up north we are going to start seeing more and more bigger people! I honestly downtown remember have a fat kid in school with us! But we only had about 1000 kids total in rolled in all 12 grades….. fyi very good honest video…. We do have rolling hills with Beautiful Pine trees and large lakes, but it’s 2 hours plus to the city’s and our internet and TV service sucks for the most part lol my wife tried working from home but it didn’t last long.
