Would actually love a tool box breakdown and recommendations video , that would be sooo sick. Like a must have list and what and how the box is organised ect ect.
Yes!! Thanks for sharing this. +1 to the folks who'd love to see more of Barny's tip for perfect bike set up, tools, mechanics corner, etc. And Pivot should def release the Barney SetUp and charge $10k more per bike! Model variation could be called BS for short
Excellent build as a former navy f 18 and still mechanic a tech great tool control and only thing I still do is torque everything but I literally do everything else same
Pivot should sell a line of bikes that were built by Barney and charge $1000 more - which would go straight to Barney. Really appreciate how detail oriented and clean this work is!
Quite curious, my dad (who was a professionally trained bicycle mechanic in the 90's) has always taught me to oil my cables for my derailleur and dropper before putting them in the outer. Do you not do it out of it creating a mess/it's a hassle and it's easier for you to just change a cable, or do you have no personal perceived difference? Bike looks beautiful too.
I switched over on my Firebird, totally changed the whole bike. I am a light rider at 152lbs and the air shock was chattery and too much feedback. Swapped to the coil with 400# spring, less feedback, still plenty supportive, still pedals good, a bit less playful & poppy but much much more controlled. I’ve run the x2 on other bikes and liked it however the Firebird has a pretty firm rear end. I think a heavier rider may not have the problems I did. Side note, the Firebird is very sensitive to ride height/sag and if set up outside of spec it rides like dog shit. Good luck.
@@jeremylownes I weigh 145 lbs and also noticed that the rear end is a bit chattery considering it has 165m in travel. so your reply is super helpful. my next dilemma is to go with Fox Coil or something like EXT....what coil did you go with? Any suggestions for the fork adjustments at our weight?
@@jaybartlett2561 So I went with the fox factory coil, like I mentioned I am super pleased with it. I ran into a guy in Moab Ut riding a firebird with an EXT, I asked how it was, he said when it was working and not back with the manufacturer it was great. However he had some problems with his. I run my fork at 76-78 psi with the stock two volume spacers. High speed compression is open LSC is 3-5 click from open depending on the situation. High speed rebound is 3 in from open. LSR is 7 in from open. The fork will top out a bit boosting off jumps but feels pretty good on the ground. I run a maxxis 2.5 assy in the front 19psi exo+.2.4exo+ DhrII on the rear 24psi with a Cush core.
Hi Barnaby, can see that Conti tire is a Dh casing without inserts. What do you think about the enduro casing on them? Wanted to try conti but I run a Cushcore only rear. Was thinking about going to enduro casing. Currently running DD from maxis front and rear with cushcore only in the rear. Do you think enduro casing compares to DD from maxis?
Nice, been trying to get a job as a bike tech for years with no success, they all want paper work, instead of experience. Some of these builds on youtube are rough as lol (not yours).
Mate, that's exactly what I want to see more on youtube. Do more of these please
beautiful frame finish , really would love a firebird frame .
That is one dialed tool box!! Great video. Thanks for sharing. 🍻

Love watching you work on Bk’s channel, you dream build firebird on top of the mountain was spectacular.

Man, I've seen a lot of nice bicycle paint jobs. But this Pivot looks sick sick sick AF 👀
I think so too!
So awesome to watch

😂😂
About time Barney, should have done ages ago👍👍
Love the video, we need a break down video of your tool kit!
Noted!
Bumping this! Can the black tool box thang be bought somewhere @Bedw4rdss?
Great video and even better bike 😍
Beautiful workshop and thats my dream bike!
Super chilled video to watch....... there's a lot more swearing, dropped tools and skinned knuckles when I try and tinker with my bikes!!!
Beautiful machine 😍
sick more of this

Shimano outer cable comes pre-lubed, so not necessary for anything additional 👍
Well done
sick setup, I need the xtr stuff and i9 hubs !
dream bike
0:51 voll der Profi!!!! 🥴🤪🥴🤪🥴
Wipes filings off with cloth then uses same cloth on stanchions? 😅
Nice build! 👍
Loving the content! What are those scissor pliers at 7.18 for grabbing the outer need to get my hands on them!!
With the firebird frame having two cable ports why did you run two cables in one port?
That’s a pretty slick water bottle setup. You want to share what brand it is? Didn’t see it in the components breakdown.
Fidlock 🫡
Was the bottom bracket already pre installed?
Sick build man. I love my Firebird and have been thinking about going from the X2 air to a coil. How do you like the fox coil?
Me too

@@jeremylownes thank you!
What is the sizing for heat shrink tubing you put on the shifter and brake cables? Want to do the same for my rig. Sick build!!
12.7mm
what allen keys are those?
Sick build! Very inspiring, for the fork did you use the E-tuned 68HT or regular 58HT?
Mate what size is the tubbing you use to stop the cable rattle inside the frame

I think I could safely assemble a bike after watching this 🤔
Had a good teacher 😂
How much do you weigh? I don't what spring rate to run on my firebird.
65kg, and I run 450lbs coil
So this is what life is like at your height 😘
Your welcome for the insight 🤓
Where did you get the toolbox?
What hose cutter and press do you use?
Shimano TLBH62
It almost looks like you've done this before.
