Well Anna this may be a challenge for many of us. They were out of the kits but I ordered by their fabric listing. I did get the 5" charm pack as well. Your instructions are printed different than mine. I am finding it a little frustrating with not knowing which fabric goes where, but luckily the picture of the completed quilt shows up pretty well. I actually am glad it will be three weeks before you get back to this. Haha! Life is cutting into my sewing time. Have a wonderful trip. I just got back from Ohio (I live in Texas). Safe travels.
You have not lost your touch, lady. A beautiful pattern, but I have five quilts to layer, quilt and bind. I just had another great nephew so baby quilting I go. I just finished one hand piece and am prepping and drawing for the next one. I also have a spinal problem and may need a second round of neurosurgery since the one in 2004. That will slow me down significantly. I hope all goes well. Have a great time @ Woolstock, I am jealous.
I think eventually I will join you in this SAL. But for now our local quilt show happens at the end of October and you know how that is. lots of pressure for finishes. But it's all good. look what will get accomplished. Have fun with Stacey and the rest. Woolstock is on my bucketlist
LOL.....Edyta's quilts are a real challenge but I know you can do it and it will be beautiful. She said anyone can as long as they take it one step at a time. It's still a challenge however. I bought the Eldon pattern long long ago. Bought all the batik material. If you Google it find the article about the young man that inspired Edyta to create it because it's amazing. Love an inspirational back story. Practiced with some old, less desirable fabric over and over and over. Finally got one that was spot on. Made a little pincushion out of it. The component I practiced was mini log cabins because hey, log cabins are fairly easy but I've never made such small ones. When you get a gazillion little log cabins made (yes I'm exaggerating) you sew them together with a mini strip set cut into diamond shapes and it becomes a beautiful 8 pointed star. She does admit it two basic shapes but very intricate. I really have to get back to it one day since I have all the expensive batiks and you're putting me to shame. Still love the bird on a spool pincushion. I bought a kit from Just Another Button Co and made a fat red cardinal-so much fun and it turned out beautiful. The mountain is breathtakingly beautiful. Love the look of snow if it would just stay off the sidewalks, streets and driveways-wouldn't that be grand. Enjoy Woolstock!
I love it, i know how you feel when we get a row done. Makes us feel good ! I could watch you all day making and sewing things. You probably would say to me “girl its time for you go home now. 😆 Have a good week !
I haven't started and I am glad I watched you and watched your hints. I did not purchase the kit but I ordered the appropriate fabrics separately. Like you, I also ordered the applique kit because I want to try it. I usually hand applique and need to try a different method because arthritis is making hand work challenging. Good luck on your trip, I heard blizzards are in the Northwest right now into Montana. Thanks for the info, I love that you get so tickled and laugh about it all. There are really no rules in quilting, just that you enjoy doing it. You make it fun just watching your reactions to the intricate directions, etc. Travel safely.
Hi Anna, Deb Anderson and others. Yes I have purchased a plain for the background in a toffee/coffee colour very like the directional print colour. I intend to piece in the directional print in the quilt backing then it won't be wasted! Janet UK.
Hi Anna! I am planning to join you for the SAL, but I did not order the kit because I wasn't as crazy about the background fabric being "striped" or directional as you call it. I didn't like how the stripes don't line up in the photo, so I wanted to get a more subtle pattern or a floral. Anywho, the pattern I have calls for a charm pack of the red Braveheart fabric, not a layer cake, so they must have corrected it. Anyway, Congrats on block 1 !!!! It looks great and you are off and running! I'll get caught up when I decide on a background fabric..... maybe the "other background" fabric................
I also did not buy the kit for the very reason on the striped background. So I bought it all individually -- have not gotten the background yet. Not sure what I will use for the background. I have all the other pieces. Except Anna said that she had that read extra piece in the kit !! What ? that was not in the "fabric requirements". My fabrics should be here in a week. Did you start yours? Which background are you using? hmmmmm
@@debanderson1075 Hi Deb! No I don't have much yet, only the pattern and a layer cake of Braveheart -- it was on sale and I love the reds -- but I haven't gotten the fat eighths of Evergreen yet or both backgrounds. There is a "Block background" of 1/2 yard and the main background of 2-1/2 yds. Plus I need the Silhouettes applique pieces and the red binding and the backing. Oh my! I didn't really realize how much more I needed! :-O Let me know what you decide to go with, if you don't mind. Thanks!
@@suzieellis8372 I am excited to do this. I do not have the pattern -yet. It should be delivered any day now along with most of the other pieces. I did order a yard of the bubbles ... I love those bubbles for my extra background for the blocks. If I like it enough I "may" go with that for the background. Unless I think it is too light. Look in your layer cake at the light bubbles .... what do you think? Or I may go with something I already have in my stash. Is the background 2 yards or 2 1/2? I kind of want to decide on the background so that I can start my first block. That first block needs the main background . Psst I also purchased the Braveheart layer cake on sale ! when will this madness stop! LOL Absolutely we can do this together .... keep me posted on what you think for a background. @@debanderson1075 Hey Deb! Sorry it took me so long to answer -- I had to go back to work after a week and a half off for "staycation" -- and I wanted to do some more research (code for shopping)!! I will let you know how it looks with the rest when it comes in. I also thought a solid would be too boring and blah! Fingers are crossed! Getting excited now!! Thanks. I’m not doing that quilt but love your videos. I love the quilt and edyta She is amazing. Quilt Kit way over my price range. I know what you mean about piecing. I have been into the hand work with the embroidery and wool. I pieced 8 maple leaf blocks Sunday. Don’t know what is going to happen with them but sure was fun sitting at the machine. Trying to use up my fabric. Have a great trip and good weather. Thanks for the viewing of the mountain. Don’t see that in Florida. lol. But originally from New Hampshire. 🙋♀️
I think Edyta expects you to cut your geese to size after sewing them together. It looks a bit large but she has you cut larger than necessary so you can make it exactly right later...right before you sew the block together. I remember listening to her saying that in a previous tutorial
I am so happy you are doing this. I also received a charm pack (no layer cake) and also my fabric list in the instructions indicate that fat eighths are included. My challenge is selecting the right fabric as I do not see that she has specified which fabric to use other than the color. I did receive only one red fat eighths which is the same as your star. The charms are all in the red tones and the rest of the fat eighths in cream or green. Thanks and happy piecing!
I bought a kit and received a message from the shop that I bought it from indicating the instructions were printed wrong. The charm pack included in the kit is correct! Can’t wait to get started!
Have fun at Woolstock! You don’t want to know that Edyta is offering Tannenbaum as a precut laser cut kit now!!!!! Your mountains sure are pretty. I’m hoping for a nice long fall here in Pennsylvania before the flurries begin.

I just wanted to let you know I'm upset with you. Have you ever been up the mountain?
part way :)
I just wanted to let you know I'm upset with you. I've watched Quilt Roadies forever and when you started Stitch Roadies I subscribed and watched because I enjoy you not because I had an interest in cross stitch. I did some stitching back years ago when it was popular but I was over that. Now I've fallen down the rabbit hole with you and my wallet is screaming and it's all your fault. I have enough projects and now I'm adding more every day. lol Love you!
sorry....but misery loves company! LOL
Sorry this is Dottie Brown not Tom!!
You crack me up!,
