I just want to hug Neil Gaiman for writing the story behind the film. This movie definitely helped me through small but impactful waves of melancholy when I was a child learning to accept my deafness. Yes, I am deaf, no I do not want your sympathies or pities, nor am I dumb. Coraline helped me believe that it is okay to be different, regardless of what society thinks of you. I’m just so grateful and I wish this film held so much more notability and recognition rather than it being viewed as a disturbing film.
This was a genius idea👍 I love listening to them talk about the voice acting and what it was like behind the scenes and where Neil got his inspiration from, I can't believe it's been over 11 years since the best movie ever was released!
The book did hint that the Other Mother wasn't the only one of her kind. There are similar beings who have doors in other houses. So I'm guessing the closest thing we'll get to a sequel will be a book about another kid dealing with a different "Other Mother Being". And I have an idea for Neil to consider for that. Coraline was being drawn into the trap with what were basically some shiny new toys. But what if the bait wasn't superficial? What if it was something more serious than boredom luring the kid in? Let's say an Other Mother Being finds a boy who recently became an orphan. In the Other World, he gets to see his parents again, albeit in a slightly creepy button-eye form. Think about it. After getting over the initial shock, he might actually be tempted to get buttons sewn into his eyes.
In my opinion the book and the movie are very different, but each of them are the same in ways that makes them both completely different and wonderful experiences of the same work. Thank you Laika for bringing us this amazing film and thank you Neil for your amazing book that inspired it!

Still, that's something i would try doing more so to widen the coraline world to the viewers.
I'm really anticipating the sequel to this mesmerizing story and will wait as long as it needs to be waited to get another master piece full of wonder!
Coraline is my favorite movie!!😍😢💞
Coralline 2 NEEDS TO HAPPEN!
What could it be? the alias beldam. Probably another mother died since in the end she was like "I'll die without you!" But if it happened, it would probably be Coraline telling Wybe's grandmother the whole story, but that would be boring 😐
@@RUclipsrDreamyLuna Nah, it was mid development then cancelled it would had been a crossover movie event between Coraline and ParaNorman
@@dragonjgaming3035 y’know maybe it could be when coraline grows up and then she has a daughter who goes in the little door
@@RUclipsrDreamyLuna i was actually gonna write a sequel script at one point and send it to Gaiman to see what he thought lol
@@dragonjgaming3035 your friends with him?
I want a movie about the other mother and her origins! Also love the line in the book refering to how the passageway was ancient and somehow alive, much older than the other mother herself. I want to hear more about that 😭
My favorite of Teri's performance. Although I like her in Desperate housewives too :)
