  • Trip to NYC with Ela on Monday, July 22nd 2024.
Ela came to bh @ 9 am, she drove her car to the parking @ the Hamilton train station.
After an hour ride on an express train from Hamilton to NYC -as we exited PENN STATION (8th Ave & 33rd St - my favorite corner) - the terrible noise of ambulances and police cars hit us mercilessly.
Only within 4 blocks of us walking north on 8th Avenue - there were 3 dead bodies of some drugged person, some run over biker, and some homeless man lying motionless on the sidewalk and bleeding...
Smell of marijuana dominated the morning air of Central Manhattan. - Do you want to come back? - I asked Ela.
We continued walking to the TIMES SQUARE - which at this hour was almost empty, the red stairs were closed as they were cleaning them, action figures were only getting ready for another day of posing with crazy tourists and charging them $5, $10, or even more...for stupid pictures.
We needed to kill time as we arrived about 30 minutes earlier than expected (by me while planning this trip), so I recorded 5 minutes (timed by Ela) of HIGH NOON TIMELAPSE @ TIMES SQUARE.
Then we walked to the SUMMIT ENTRANCE of the ONE VANDERBILT on 42nd Street & Madison Ave (between 4th and 5th Ave) and we took an elevator to the 91st floor.
The combination of the mirrored floor and the ceiling with the magnificent view of Manhattan towards all directions was amazing.
We could see the endless reflections of people in the floor and ceiling going through 2 glass floors. We played with the reflective silver balls levitating all around and flying around pushed by blowing air.
Chrysler building to the east, Edge NYC to the West, thin skyscrapers at the edge of Central Park - to the north, ESB, Freedom Tower @ WTC and Lower Manhattan, even Verrazano Bridge in the distant south...
From this place we could see our biking marathon road - Lower Manhattan - Central Manhattan - Central Park -Bronx - Queens via Koch Bridge - Brooklyn - down to Verrazano - and Staten Island - it is unbelievable we did it a year ago!

Then - still on the top on ONE V - we stood in the glass cage outside the building, suspended 91 floors over Manhattan!!!!!!! Until the last moment - as we stood in line - I thought I would chicken, but we did it! Thanx to Ela...

    Text from Internet:
One Vanderbilt in New York City has 93 floors, including 73 floors of office space and three levels of observation decks and bars on the top. The observation decks are numbered 91-93 and are located 1,100 feet above Madison Avenue. The building's roof is 1,301 feet high, and with its spire, it's 1,401 feet tall, making it the fourth tallest building in New York City.
    Acknowledgement on the very beginning:
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT This film has been recorded with INSTA360 X4 camera. It is an EXPERIMENT as this camera introduces the extreme wide angles thus creating serious distortions in the proportions and perspective.
We are not that thin, not that fat, I don't really have such a big head and short legs.
This is allowed to make the viewing experience more enjoyable by getting away from the norm. Please be understanding.
At any moment of this visit to the SUMMIT ONE VANDERBILT, any actor was in real danger of falling off the building...
    ERRORS:
    t=16:21 - should be: "INSTA360 X4 - there is no substitute"
and not "INSTA360 X4 - there in substitute"...
