this is cute but examples and exhibitions like these are HIGHLY counterproductive, because they lull people into believing they are safe(-er) from haymakers when in fact, the problem with haymakers aren't avoiding, deflecting or blocking them once perceived thrown, but being able to react at all as they tend to come "from nowhere".
increasing your ability to execute any of these defenses are done before any punch is ever thrown. with any sign of aggression unless you, for whatever reason, can not walk away, keep your appropriate distance, raise your hands to your chest in a non provocative manner (place palm on chest, maybe scratch your ear or chin with the other one), place your lead foot slightly ahead of the other, slightly tuck chin. remember; don't escalate the situation, no closed fists or power-stances etc!
when thrown, depending on how fast you react, tuck chin! raise your arm to protect chin and face by closely hugging the side of your face (palm on head) this way your chin is behind your shoulder and most of your head is braced from dangerous impact. lean into punch and close distance to negate power and to possibly knock balance from the aggressor or even run your forehead into his face/nose! you will get bruised, but not knocked out! obviously, when you close distance, you can, if possible, run your free arm's elbow into aggressor's chin/collar-bone/chest. this hurts tremendously or even breaks whatever it impacts
from then on out another scenario emerges, but that's the topic of another video, I assume

WoW just found this channel, I like, and can see that these techniques would work in a real situation. Trouble is, how to choose which one to take on board (learning too many can cause confusion when under the adrenaline dump!) ?
Most street fighters only have ONE technique. For example, the late Bon Scott ex lead singer in ACDC was a street fighter and I heard years ago he had only ONE technique and he always prevailed in street fights.

Hi Nick. There are many ways to deal with a bad attack, but few ways to deal with a good offense. Philosophy of JKD students always prefer to practice in front of the little technique works better fighter than a lot of practice working in front of a bad fighter.
