Glackin is a treasure but this is unbelievably great accompanament as well
Very high art of irish music, highest respect from Brittany!!
This is gorgeous. Possibly the two most understated gentlemen in the field. Paddy is understated and underated and few can compare to the late Michael...reminds me of the McCann/Brady album. What a blinking good combo! Loved Glackin, but Glackin + O' Domhnaill....that Bothy seed...marvellous!!!
Go raibh maith agat! Thank you for your comment!
Home.
Good playing. The little finger is busy with the ornamentation.
one of the better synched up audios and videos.
As good a player as you will find anywhere. Great tone and timing.
I like the part when he plays that fiddle like it wasn't big deal at all.
I thought the same. Sign of a great musician.
Slaying the feckin' dragon.
2nd tune is Humours of Castlefin
Go raibh maith agat as ucht sin !
Can there be any BETTER backing than that? 🤔
Ní ceapaim go bhfuil.
For me purely backing speaking he was the Ard Rí na hÉireann ar an Giotár! ❤️
I only know and met 1 student of him, the Breton Mestr Gitar Saoig Siberil.
How many students did he have?
Did he do workshops alright?
I think he did some in Wilwalkee around Chicago, Michigan but I am not sure.
I would love to have conversations with them and see how they play...
Does anyone know any other mac léin of his?
Go raibh maith agaibh!
Tomás
@Trad TG4
@Trad TG4 Dia dhaoibh!
An bhfuil fiseán éigin leo ag seinnt Loing Ag Seoladh (The Ships Are Sailing) abhaibh?
Lovely! From Catalunya
guitarists..can anyone tell me what tuning Micheal is using here ?
Mícheál Ó Domhnaill was one of the pioneers of DADGAD tuning in Irish traditional music accompaniment, I believe that's the tuning he's using in this performance.
DADGAD surely. Sounds like it.
One of his apprentices, the renowns Breton guitar player Saoig Siberil only told me of DADGAD concerning Micheál, but I don’t know if he used other tunings.
