Very, very nice. In fact you've inspired me to purchase a used Magicstomp on Ebay for $90USD for my Carvin HH2 and 5 string fretless. One catch, it has a defective foot switch but otherwise everything else works fine. Thanks for your inspiration
Superb sound - just what I was looking for! And the Vader is just I will be ordering one day too! The pedal was advised to me to get AHs non attack sustain sound! Thanks a lot!
@@xroxx1 well those are Holdsworth pickups in the Vader so that probably helps 😁 I learnt loads of Holdsworth very early on so I obviously absorbed some of his harmonic language into my own. I'm also massively influenced by many of the same classical composers as he was.
Graham, beautiful composition to go with the other-worldly sound of Allan! Does this pedal deliver Allan's lead tone as well, or would the UD be required for that?
Hi, I'm still exploring the MS as it's found it's way onto my second pedalboard. Originally just so I could use this sound and the AH chorus sound but it occurred to me I could have it do so much more. As I understand it it have the DG stomp sounds which were the basis of Allan's lead sound until the end. I think the MS provided his lead sound which fed to whatever head he was using via the effects loop return. Hence him using 6 of them live. Some for lead, some for modulation etc.
Hey great tone m@n !! Is your Kiesel (Vader i guess) a kind of multiscale ? im looking 4 a 7 strings with a Trem (N probably multiscale) N with some passive PUs (not these active Fluence found on most multiscales which sound cold IMO) N with a nice wood flavor on the top such as yours ...Kielsel was of course on my list (they have amazing QPR) with Stranberg but they dont' have a lot of options when it comes to a custom setup o_O
Hi, it's not a multiscale. It's a koa body with a maple and purpleheart neck and a buckeye burl top. I tried a bunch of strandbergs and the build quality is not on a par with Kiesel. Although the hardware is good the standard of finishing was nowhere near the Kiesel. The Kiesel trem is a joy to use.
@@GrahamYoung oK great infos many thanks :) im planning to get one of those headless 7 strings this year so its good to have some feedback about Stranberg guitars ...the wood that you've mentioned R trully splendid ^^ what about the PUs ? I guess the FB is ebony
Great sound Graham, very Holdsy indeed. How did you get Allan's sound patches into the (User section) presets of the Magic stomp? Just all manually or from a digital source? Thanks a lot!
Thanks Rudy, I loaded them in using the editor software and sys ex banks found on the Facebook group page. I really don't have the time to program all those delay settings in manually! 🤣
Thanks! Yes, just the single MS into the computer in stereo. For chapter and verse on the MS and DGs check out John Vullo's comprehensive video ruclips.net/video/7RLQlLyWe4w/видео.html
@@GrahamYoung Much appreciated for your reply Graham. It truly sounds wonderful :) I definitely have to get one of this after finding your video! But I'm still confused with the different versions of the pedal (Acoustic, Bass, and Guitar). Do you know if the different models can host the same algos by loading the same firmware version on to them? or are they completely different pedals altogether? Cheers!
@@pangea2003 There's basically two versions. One without the headphone out and one without. Other than that they are same internally. It'll be pot luck as to what will be loaded on it when you get it but the facebook page has all the patches. There's the editor software there too. It's the Holdsworth patch unedited as shown at the beginning. I'm using an Ernie Ball volume pedal for the swells. The exact signal is described in one of the other comments here.
I just bought a magicstomp and downloaded the holdsworth patches, but the swells don’t sound like yours do, there’s a delay on them that messes with the swell. Any tips on how to make it sound like you did?

Great sound and playing!
Cheers Pedro!
Great playing great effects.
That was beautiful, thanks!
Lovely playing!
Besides great tone and playing, that is the most gorgeous Vader I've seen. And I have one.
Thanks on both fronts. I'm obviously biased but I still think it's one of the best looking Vaders I've seen. I love it.
Pads from a guitar! Incredible!
I can't take the credit, Allan Holdsworth came up with it.
Fantastic
Greeting from Brazil!!!! Come one day!!!
Unbelievable. Nothing comes close for this sound. Even that it's about 15 years old.
Great video!
Hi, very good work, one question , how are the guitar tunning? Thanks for remenber us the sound of Allan.

Wow I have a magi stomp. Need to find this patch. Exactly like the iou sound. Lovely chords. Is this swell sound a preset?
If you read through the comments here you'll find everything you need to know 👍
Very nice sound(and harmony), what are the rest of your settings ? (Treble, mids, bass on the amp)?
Nice old magic stomp
Very beautiful, sir! What all are you playing thru, if you don’t mind me asking?
Thanks Lawrence.
It was guitar>Ernie Ball Volume pedal>MagicStomp>audio interface in stereo to Cubase. That simple.

Do you use a volume pedal in this or is this pure the magic stomp
Yes, an EB volume pedal if I recall correctly.
