Refreshing to find another great channel for starter watch collections. Really good selection covered. Only thing I would say though is that prices should be based on RRP and not sale or second hand price otherwise it is inconsistent and opens you up to loads of watches.
I bought my first watch the Orient Ray II in blue colour about a month ago. Happy to see this watch on the top of your list. I decided to buy another watches too later. Perfect piece to start a collection.
Thank you Paulo! I tried to include some watches that were a little more under the radar for the hardcore watch enthusiasts and some common ones for the newbies! That Casio is an unreal pick by the way. Definitely check it out
@@TopTierTicker when looking for a watch, I always try to find that watch that offers the best value for the money. And, if possible, always try to get higher tier quality. I find that around the 1.000 (EUR/USD/GBP) to be the sweet point. But then, when I see some more affordable options I always get the feeling those are the ones I should buy. A real dilema... 🤷🤔😅
I don't have a large collection of watches (10-12 pieces), anyway they are not very expensive watches (Orient ray II, Casio Duro, Timex). I came across your videos recently, and slowly, slowly I started to unfollow the videos with expensive watches. I like the enthusiasm, the honesty with which you present even an ordinary Lorus watch (and I have one of this one). So as long as you don't change the style of your videos, you will always have at least one follower. Well done!
Thank you Klaus. That's a lovely comment. I also have a similar size collection of mostly affordable watches. Same brands as you. I think there is so much value and fun to be had in the affordable watch market. My videos will be staying the same style for sure. However the editing will get better, better footage etc. So I'm happy to have you around.
@@TopTierTicker I am a citizen of a country where the average salary is 6-700 dollars per month. I say this because at this level collecting luxury watches (such as Rolex, Tudor, Omega, Longines) is not an easy thing. That's why I somehow chose to follow your videos, whose watches are as accessible as possible. For example, I am looking to increase my collection with an Orient Bambino, I am looking for good offers. And this year I want to buy either a Tissot prx or an Atlantic Mariner. I watched the Tissot video, very nice! I'm a big fan of diver watches, but I'm also looking at an offer of field watches from Citizen. I greet you! Good luck !
Well said. And in complete agreement. I advise my young friends on a variety of topics, including financial topics. Quality Style & Price. I can’t advise anyone to compromise on any of the three. This video is an excellent example of why we don’t have to. Whether it’s a young professional in a first job, an adventurous spirit or someone needing a little beauty in his or her world, multiple excellent options can be had under $150…often substantially less. While there’s a few $500-800 watches that catch my eye, I don’t think I have seen anything over a $1000 that can’t be matched by a reasonable budget option. I’m grateful for this channel for this very reason…
A great list and, of course, I love that the Duro made the list. I’d have been shocked if it hadn’t, let’s be honest. I’ve never owned an Edifice but really like the EFB. Also, as a Citizen fan also, I need to check out that chrono.
Bought an Orient Ray II well over a year ago and the bezel was almost impossible to turn. Replaced the bezel and insert with a coin edge and twelve hour setup from Long Island Watch and it’s better, but still way to stiff. Also bought an Orient Kamasu that is far better than the, and I’d recommend that any day over the Ray.
Seagull movements aren't dodgy. ( Do you mean in quality? ) They are a big improvement over lots of entry level Japanese movements and generally keep better time, even the cheap high-beat ones in my experience. I think the original copies they made of ETA movements etc have been tweaked over time. Parts are easily available too if you want them serviced. I'm not in a financial position to take the moral high ground and say they're just copies, I want a functional auto and they are certainly not dodgy but are affordable, reliable automatic movements.
Too bad you didn't show the best part of the Seiko 5 SNKE61, the fantastic lume! I've owned one for about 3 years and it was a daily for about a year of that, fantastic little watch and a great Explorer alternative. Great video!
Very good review. I've tried quite a few of the watches featured. Mint pre-owned or discounted new. Maybe two you missed...the Accurist 7367 Chrono with the cushion Case & Timex Harbourside Coast Black Case + Black Dial with orange accents. I settled on two "beaters", the Classic Vostok you featured in both the Black & Silver Dial...both on Bracelets. Vostok & G-Shock have a lot of respect amongst enthusiasts as tool watches, no matter how heavy hitting their collection might be.
In your video the vanilla color orient defender as a light blue loom is that normal or did you have something that was light blue reflecting off the watch???? Thanks Joel
Being in the market for a daily beater, I've stumbled across your video. Needless to say that I ordered the Orient Defender 2. Thank you for the recommendation!
Great collection. I so appreciate your emphasis on quality, attractive watches for reasonable cost.
