    Refreshing to find another great channel for starter watch collections. Really good selection covered. Only thing I would say though is that prices should be based on RRP and not sale or second hand price otherwise it is inconsistent and opens you up to loads of watches.

      @@TopTierTicker when looking for a watch, I always try to find that watch that offers the best value for the money. And, if possible, always try to get higher tier quality. I find that around the 1.000 (EUR/USD/GBP) to be the sweet point. But then, when I see some more affordable options I always get the feeling those are the ones I should buy. A real dilema... 🤷🤔😅

    I don't have a large collection of watches (10-12 pieces), anyway they are not very expensive watches (Orient ray II, Casio Duro, Timex). I came across your videos recently, and slowly, slowly I started to unfollow the videos with expensive watches. I like the enthusiasm, the honesty with which you present even an ordinary Lorus watch (and I have one of this one). So as long as you don't change the style of your videos, you will always have at least one follower. Well done!

    • @TopTierTicker
      @TopTierTicker  Год назад +2

      Thank you Klaus. That's a lovely comment. I also have a similar size collection of mostly affordable watches. Same brands as you. I think there is so much value and fun to be had in the affordable watch market. My videos will be staying the same style for sure. However the editing will get better, better footage etc. So I'm happy to have you around.

      @@TopTierTicker I am a citizen of a country where the average salary is 6-700 dollars per month. I say this because at this level collecting luxury watches (such as Rolex, Tudor, Omega, Longines) is not an easy thing. That's why I somehow chose to follow your videos, whose watches are as accessible as possible. For example, I am looking to increase my collection with an Orient Bambino, I am looking for good offers. And this year I want to buy either a Tissot prx or an Atlantic Mariner. I watched the Tissot video, very nice! I'm a big fan of diver watches, but I'm also looking at an offer of field watches from Citizen. I greet you! Good luck !

      Well said. And in complete agreement. I advise my young friends on a variety of topics, including financial topics. Quality Style & Price. I can’t advise anyone to compromise on any of the three. This video is an excellent example of why we don’t have to. Whether it’s a young professional in a first job, an adventurous spirit or someone needing a little beauty in his or her world, multiple excellent options can be had under $150…often substantially less. While there’s a few $500-800 watches that catch my eye, I don’t think I have seen anything over a $1000 that can’t be matched by a reasonable budget option. I’m grateful for this channel for this very reason…

    Bought an Orient Ray II well over a year ago and the bezel was almost impossible to turn. Replaced the bezel and insert with a coin edge and twelve hour setup from Long Island Watch and it’s better, but still way to stiff. Also bought an Orient Kamasu that is far better than the, and I’d recommend that any day over the Ray.

    Seagull movements aren't dodgy. ( Do you mean in quality? ) They are a big improvement over lots of entry level Japanese movements and generally keep better time, even the cheap high-beat ones in my experience. I think the original copies they made of ETA movements etc have been tweaked over time. Parts are easily available too if you want them serviced. I'm not in a financial position to take the moral high ground and say they're just copies, I want a functional auto and they are certainly not dodgy but are affordable, reliable automatic movements.

    Very good review. I've tried quite a few of the watches featured. Mint pre-owned or discounted new. Maybe two you missed...the Accurist 7367 Chrono with the cushion Case & Timex Harbourside Coast Black Case + Black Dial with orange accents. I settled on two "beaters", the Classic Vostok you featured in both the Black & Silver Dial...both on Bracelets. Vostok & G-Shock have a lot of respect amongst enthusiasts as tool watches, no matter how heavy hitting their collection might be.

I gave most of them away to my Brothers because if you don't use them regularly they do break down. Now I do have a simple Fosill/Defender watch which basically runs like a citizen Eco-drive. It cost 180 dollars. The main reason for me one has to like the look of the watch. • @TopTierTicker
      @TopTierTicker  Год назад +1

      So it sounds like you have the G-Shock GAE-2100, which is a slightly different version to the one I'm showing here. Your watch does have an interchangeable case and strap but it doesn't have a lot of options for it.
      I don't think it's possible to buy a steel case for your version, as the module inside is slightly different.
      So if you wanted a steel case you'll either have to buy a GM2100, or buy a GA2100 and buy a mod kit off ali express!
      I'd recommend buying a cheap second hand Ga2100 on ebay, and buying a new GA2100 mod kit on Ali-Express, you effectively get a brand new metal casioak for less than £100.
      Hope this helps

      I own 2 Orient watches and I can say without question, they are top tier quality! Check out my review on the best affordable enthusiast dive watch, it's an Orient and it's so good!

    Would the Orient watches size down to a 6.5 inch wrist with the bracelet?

      Absolutely they will. I also have a 6.5inch wrist and all my recommendations will fit.

      @@TopTierTicker Thank you very much. You have a nice list of recommendations. I like the first Orient watch you recommended in your video for my wrist size.

      It was on Jomashop for $100 but they have sold out. I have just check ebay and you can still pick them up brand new for just over $100. 💵

    i own 5 of the watches featured ( they're not Rolex , so no flexing from me).
    I have the mako2 - the Ray but a different design. After getting the Citizen Promaster diver ( ISO cert. for a bit over of this budget and a brutalist design) now find it too big and heavy.
    The Vostock is just fun - overlooking the crown - but may be hard to get a Russian watch now ( and the question of getting one)?
    The Lorus has lume that embarrasses other more expensive timepieces.
    That and the GA2100 will be candidates to take on my next holiday, along with my 37mmm Casio Edifice gen.1 ( seek it out) and Oceanus ..( not a Casio fan boy at all). Cheers.

      Thats my daily beater. I can tell you first hand mine has spent a significant amount of time in rivers, pools, and the gulf of mexico. Not a drop of moisture made it through.

    I own efb, really nice watch. but you reviewed 2 different watches: the one with the screws is efr.

      Indeed. I wanted to highlight both models, both great options. Very similar in aesthetics but same in materials and functionality. Great choice with the EFB by the way. 🙌
