I knew for awhile that Josh was good, and already being impressed with his playing on I'm With You, I'm blown away by how good he is live. The guy can fucking shred.
Anybody who is a real RHCP fan would appreciate what Josh brings to the table instead of rag him for "not being John." Newsflash: he isn't trying to be John. There are some similarities, but overall they're completely different guitarists. They each do things better than the other.

I agree with you that he's not Frusciante. There will never be another one that gives them that sound he had. But Klinghoffer is an fantastic multi-instrumentialist. Right now he is an unshaped diamond, because he's entered a band with more than 30 years of experience. Give him a year or two and he will be fantastic. I'd much rather see him grow into the band than Frusciante joining...again for the third time.

I believe Dave would bring something better than Josh to the band if he came back again... but hey, I'm still a fan...

josh's tone is weak and has way too much flange all the fucking time. go listen to any of frusciante's versions and you'll see how much more gusto there is in his tone and delivery

Josh is amazing as the new guitarist. Has his own style and doesn't imitate John, but there is a hint of it. He fits in well
