I got one of these like new but used on Reverb and it is the same body type, seven string and only the humbucker. Mine has the inlaid Purple Heart pickguard. I play clean country music in addition to metal. Perhaps the best guitar I own and I own a lot.
What’s up kaleb! Came here from a buster video funny enough! Love your content and you just got yourself a new subscriber! Love hapas guitars. I don’t have one but I’d love to probably get one eventually.
Fuck, this one hit me hard man. You don’t know how much I appreciate that. I’m just trying my best to make cool stuff and hope people enjoy it. I appreciate you ❤
Cheapest you can find on Reverb is around $2,400 which is not bad considering you don’t have to wait almost 2 years for the custom build. If you can get one under $3k you’re doing pretty good but expect to find mostly $3k+
They're passive so thats a big difference from the pickups you mentioned. I don't have the most experience with EMG or Fishman but I can say that I think the guitar gives me exactly what I want for high gain and clean tones. Tight chugs, clarity on big chords, crystal clean cleans. I can't say with 100% certainty that its just because of the pickups, but I feel like the guitar is super "tight" in that theres the right amount of low end cut out of the signal and the mids just sounds awesome. In this video the guitar sounds way more grindy than what it does now (in a good way) after a few adjustments I've done like raising the string height a little. I'd happily try throwing Hapas pickups in any guitar I wanted to do a swap with.
@@borhksalduero9259 a year later and it’s still so fun to play. The brass nut has been great with no issues so far 👌🏻 in another video the guys at Hapas talked about how the thinner body helps get rid of a lot of the low end that you don’t really need and I think they’re right. Ive compared the EQ curve to some other guitars of mine and this one for sure has the tightest low end. I really love how it sounds on low gain tones too. I feel like most people don’t get these guitars for that style but its really inspiring 👌🏻
@@KalebBirdsong thanks mate!! I have pulled the trigger on a hapas ashen 628 with brass nut and next month is coming, I am pretty sure I will get the most of this beast as you do. Thanks for the feedback!! 🤘
Hello sir! Nice video and good review :). I’m always a bit afraid to buy guitars on internet without trying it first because I like to feel the neck shape and see if it fits me but I’m pretty sure Hapas does the job, normally I enjoy jacksons/solar kind of neck, do you have anything you can say about this Hapas neck shape? I would love to try one of those and also some mayones regius which I’m also into it, hopefully the next guitar event I’ll try them 🙌 Thanks
Thanks for the kind words! :) I totally understand wanting to put your hands on them first before buying. This is definitely a risk when buying a custom build or other guitar online but in this case it was worth the reward imo Like I said in the video, these guys are just metal to the core and aligned with a lot of the values that I care about. From what I could see in pictures, videos, and music made with their instruments, it all made sense to me. I don’t play Jackson or Solar too often but I have an Ibanez with a Wizard II neck that I’ve played over 10 years. I assume these are reasonably thin necks and the neck on my Hapas is even thinner (in a good way I think) I’d love to see them at an event and get to play a bunch of them in person like you said 👌🏻 thanks again and let me know if you have any other questions
Ya man that’s nasty! I want a sludge 727 SO bad!! I saw the one the built for munky and man! That guitar is just the tits man! One day I’d love to own one for sure
Pickups are relatively easy to swap so it wasn’t a huge deal for me. Also they’ve designed their pickups specifically for their guitars and in my opinion they knocked it out of the park. I would definitely consider buying theirs to put in other guitars in the future 👌🏻
@@stanp5246 They’re the Behemoth in the bridge and Zæz in the neck. If you haven’t seen it already, go check out Kristian Kohle’s Hapas shop tour video and the guys give a pretty good breakdown of their pickups. Best of luck! 🤘🏻
@@KalebBirdsong thanks! Also, do you ever have tuning issues with the brass nut causing the string to bind to the string slot? Like after a big bend/vibrato on the thickest strings?
@@stanp5246 nope! No tuning issues really. The locking tuners do a great job and I don’t notice the strings catching in the brass nut or other weird things at all 👌🏻 I’m sure graphite or other lubricant couldn’t hurt but in my experience it’s been all good so far.
I didn’t tell them I had a preference on the action and I didn’t request any specific strings. I don’t think it would be unreasonable to have asked for a certain gauge of string but I figured they had good judgment based on what tuning I asked them to set it up for. The strings they picked out were perfectly fine and a couple twists of an allen key was all it took to get the action where I personally like it. Nothing too major in my opinion.

Haven’t seen many people playing country with these guitars. That’s awesome, man 🙌🏻 the recessed pick guards they do are sweet!

What hype? This isn’t a popular brand lol
$2-$3k guitars that sell out in hours when they have stock on their site and 2 year wait list for custom builds. No hype at all 😂
Sure and they probably stock like 5 of them
They’re not hyped bro. The only notable artist to use them is Buster Odeholm
