You can easily kill by crafting bunch of tooth trap. traps cant be destroyed by its quake, just let it follow you till all tooth traps are used. hit it a few then done. tooth traps are easy crafted so no need to struggle building a limited use bell and pan flute

For one when a boss like Deerclops comes you stay away from your base and two try lead him somewhere where he potentially can be killed like Beefalos, or a bunch of level 3(/spider queens) spider nests so he could destroy those nest give you some silk along with nest eggs (or if it's the queens their heads). Me I got a bunch of tall birds to kill him...
I love the reign of Giants DLC. It's just I never make it in time to encounter even the deerclops, I normally just die because of stupid spiders or if something went horribly wrong while scavenging for food

Together is just don't starve with multiplayer, and rog is don't starve with more content snd shipwreck is a whole different game where you are playing out in the ocean and stuff!

impiuks I don't know if I'd say he's the best, but I usually play as Wolfgang since the health and damage bonuses he gets are pretty helpful. I've been playing as Wigfrid recently and she's got some neat abilities as well, so I think she might be edging out Wolfgang as my new favorite.

I am saying this because I have a fully operational honey, wood, grass, and berry farm all enclosed in stone walls, with a narrow channel leading out and that channel is filled with tentacles due to On Tentacles! Being op :p and I have the inner section of the channel filled with tooth traps. Nothing has yet to get past the tentacles. I can live in my own little haven with no threat of much and I have a quick emergency escape route for naughty enemies like deerclops, I also made this by the pig king and therefore pigmen so when stuff gets heated I break one of the walls and get to the village, then can use The End is Nigh or some such nonsense to aid me. I also have bunches of flowers by the bees (And therefore butterflies, with nets to get them and plant them for new flowers, therefore easy sanity.) And I have green caps in my fridge. Lastly, there is a forest near me with 3 spider dens! I am working on moving them into my base (via spider eggs) and then being able to get more nets and more sanity etc. I might have to farm for more tentacle spots (I hope not... such a grind to get tentacle spots sometimes :P) and then create a channel leading to the spiders so that if they want my blood at night they get killed by tentacles, and then I can get the loot if I am careful. I might try to get a lureplant there? iunno... any tips for sectioning that area off? I don't want to grind for houndius shootius, or tentacles, bee mines are easy to get, and I can get enough tooth traps if they would be semi efficient, I may just put a chest with a bunch of walls by a section in the wall that I would break time after time and then completely section off that area, so that when I need to access it I can farm it, but that makes me a little bit less self dependant, which was the goal here (As I would have to get stone eventually, even if I never ended up having to leave the prospect of eventually having to leave if I lived on and on is not one I would like to bring to the grave with my character.)Can houndius shootius shoot over walls? I could get a channel with hay walls (Because these I can farm y'see!) and then put two second corridors beside it (So 3 different sectioned off corridors by it, they aren't open to eachother) with a houndius shootius in each and then when they come through they get killed (I can use bee mines to slow them down, I have a bunch of surplus bees and honey, so bee mines really aren't a problem.) And then if my bee mine production isn't fast enough I could section it off? (Oh, and I forgot to mention, all my walls are tier 2's). Lastly (Maybe, iunno at the time I am writing this section if something else will pop into my head.), should I befriend some pigman and bring them into a pen, then let them out when something gets rough? Just kinda have my main defense then have the emergency system where I open up the spider pen and the pig pen, while escaping through the walls and running to the pig village? That could be pretty epic! (Ya, I lied, that wasn't lastly :P) There is a sinkhole semi close by that I haven't explored (Ik, shame on me, but I explored two others and got sick of that.) Should I go down, and lead the rock crabs out and into a pen for yet another emergency measure? That would make me practically invincible, so I guess that is the end goal. Have me completely surrounded except by one entrance that is *heavily* guarded and funnels hounds into it, then have an interior where if a boss gets into it I could escape through an escape "hatch" and turn the inside into utter tormoil while running to get reinforcements, which I storm the hole I made to get out with after the boss has killed off my initial stalling method :D Also, just as a side note, I have stuff to keep cool during the summer and warm during the winter, but I felt I didn't need to elaborate on those as they are pretty obvious. (Endothermics and flingomatics etc.) Now I am finally done :p Say in the comments if you actually read the whole thing xD

In my game it took 2 Tree Guards and 2 Spider queens to kill him but in the end he died so win.
Or you can just run trough the forest until he pops up some treeguards: Easy wood collecting and some help for your battle
