I visited the United States from June 29 to July 13, 2023 on a J1 visa for 2 weeks, and I am subject to Section 212E (2 year home residency) What should I do? Please advise.
The two-year home residency requirement (or 212(e), as it is referenced in the immigration regulations) means that those who come the U.S. in J-1 status cannot become permanent residents in the U.S., change status in the U.S., or get work or family-based visa status such as H, L or K until they return to their country of last permanent residence for at least two years cumulatively.
I visited the United States from June 29 to July 13, 2023 on a J1 visa for 2 weeks, and I am subject to Section 212E (2 year home residency). Now I am selected for DV lottery 2025. What should I do? Please advise.
Based on the time you came to the United States, you will most likely be able to go through the process and become a permanent resident by the time the DV process is over and you are issued your visa. July 2025 of next year will be 2 years for you. So depending on your case number and US embassy performance in your home country, the process should take that long for everything to be completed. Go ahead with the process
@@Journey_WithTheYankyeras please sir when will they start interviews for DV lottery 2025? Is it as from August, that is 3 months after filling the DS 260 form?
will most likely start from October. All DV 2024 winners should have received their visas by end of September or it is considered null and void. Review the visa bulletin for August and September which still contains the cut-off for DV 2024 winners
