Historically Basil's first son from his first wife did die tragically at a young age and preferred to have him be his heir regardless if Leo was purpleborn so him being overwhelmed by stress on getting the notif of his death was spot on lmao
Byzantine experience easily the best empire experience. You can consistently fight a 10 front war starting with the best holdings in the game and primo
Does anyone else enjoy just getting all the Byzantine Empire's de jure land and just being the most powerful and prestigious empire in Europe vs being the only one? Idk personally its just more fun playing as the 'Byzantine' Empire lately.
Personally, I enjoy starting as a vassal. I usually have no interest or intention becoming emperor, so I always roleplay as a loyal vassal intent on just seeing the glory of Rome restored. But unfortunately all of my runs so far have led to me (or my son) taking matters into their own hands and becoming emperor.
Hell yea. By the early 11th century, i have managed to almost completely restore Eastern Roman lands as it was during the time of Justinian and Belisarius. In my previous run i could even restore the Roman Empire as a hellenic.
Sometimes I could easily reunite all of Rome in about 7 years(only Aurelian could do it in 5) but I like to sometimes just get back to the og Eastern Roman borders and chill for a few decades like “yeah. This makes a girl happy, we’re Roman Greeks up in this Mediterranean 304”
Since oversimplified i just wanna build back Carthage… sorry Rome but Hannibal was just too impressive. He did it with a weaken nation that wasn’t build for war in the first place.
I love how the Developers never implemented a separate set of dialogue when you are a Christian Faith dismantling the Papacy, not even for Orthodox Christians. Behold this absolute horror as we…make you be on the same level as other Patriarchs in the Pentarchy, how savage.
I am so confused, every time I play ck3 the fucking empire has a different name. Byzantine, then Eastern Roman Empire and sometimes just straight up Roman Empire. What is It actually called in the base game 😅 I know the most popular / well received name is the Byzantine Empire IRL but idk
Well, the Roman empire as we all know it was split between the western and Eastern Roman empire (byzantine) The western part fell apart quickly while the eastern part adopted the Greek language and culture as their main but they were still the "Roman empire" just smaller, much later European historian called it Byzantium to differentiate it from the Roman empire and the holy Roman empire (a copycat Roman empire but they wanted to be the og so they call the eastern Roman empire Byzantium) I suppose that is a good explanation
@@ch.o0480 No, I think even people in the HRE called the Byzantines "Rhomania" while it was still around, just like everyone else. It wasn't until after they were gone that the title of "Byzantine Empire" appeared anywhere at all.
Playing as the byzantine empire you start off with a better economy than others but focus on building trade docks which are always next to the ocean like Constantinople or Sicily and others hill farms are always good and just regular farms or if you are either a Catholic or a Orthodox you can ask the head Faith for some gold like 1000 gold given to you

That plus conquering the Levant and Egypt and holding them for 100 years after which they de jure drift to the Byzantine Empire
I'm often forced to almost form the Roman Empire because I can't allow the Muslims to keep Hispania and North Africa.

Could a restore Rome with those borders, just saying...
I could have but I wanted to integrate more Empire titles before doing it 😉

I have a ck3 game where I had a custom character start off as a peasant revolt leader ruling a duchy, leading him to seize the Byzantine empire
I reformed the Roman Empire on a save a couple years back and just haven’t been able to since. Truly the Byzantine experience!
Byzantine Empire was the best empire during the Medieval Age
The Byzantines, the Mongols, the Mughals, Tawantinsuyu, and the Song Dynasty were the coolest imo
Mughals is admittedly pushing "medieval" a little bit (early 1500s) but I just think they're neat
Glorious
Most underrated channel.

The byzantine empire is the continuation of the roman empire but just as the east and true roman empire

Wait, why the Romans have primogeniture succession in CK3 and in CK2 is just elective imperial?
The government system is inherently flawed in CK3
